RimWorld Together server administration is assigned from the live server console. Have the player join once, run deeplist to identify them, then run op with the correct identifier. To revoke access later, use deop with that same identifier.
On RimWorld Together version 25.12.13.1 and newer, use the username the player created when joining. On older or uncertain versions, the UID shown by deeplist may be required. The console and exact panel layout differ by hosting provider, but the command sequence is the same.

- Access to the server’s web-based console or equivalent live console.
- The player must have connected to the server at least once so RimWorld Together has a known account name or UID. Several server guides also require the player to be online when the command is run, so keep them connected while granting access.
- The server version, especially whether it is 25.12.13.1 or newer. The identifier format changed, and using the wrong format is the most common reason an otherwise correct command fails.
- A spelling-accurate copy of the player’s in-game name, or the UID returned by
deeplist.
Administrative status is assigned through the running server. The available evidence does not establish a separate administrator-list configuration file, so do not create or edit a JSON file for this task. File editing is a different operation and can introduce avoidable downtime or overwrite unrelated settings.

Step 1: Check the server version and have the player join
Check the version first
Look for the RimWorld Together or server build number in your hosting panel, startup log, or server information screen. If it reports version 25.12.13.1 or newer, start by using the player’s username. If the version is older, not displayed, or the username command is rejected, use the UID from deeplist.
Version labels can be shown in different places by different hosts. If you cannot find one, record the exact error returned by the console and test the two identifier formats only after confirming the player has joined.
Make the player known to the server
Ask the intended administrator to connect normally and remain in the game. The server needs to see the account before it can resolve a name or identifier. Running op for a person who has never joined commonly produces no useful match because there is no known player record to target.
Step 2: Open the live server console
Open your game-hosting control panel and select the RimWorld Together server. Choose its console, terminal, or live command interface. The label and navigation path vary by host, so use the panel’s server-management area rather than RimWorld’s in-game chat or developer console.

Keep the console open while the player is connected. Commands are entered one at a time and submitted with the panel’s send or enter control. If the panel displays timestamps, save the lines containing deeplist and op; they are useful when diagnosing a failed grant.
Step 3: Run deeplist and read the result
Enter:
deeplistThe command lists connected players and provides the identifiers the server can use. Depending on the server version and console presentation, the output may include a username, a UID, or both. Copy the value exactly, including capitalization and punctuation.

Username or UID?
This is the important version distinction:
- Version 25.12.13.1 and newer: the RimWorld Together wiki says to use the username the player created when joining rather than the UID.
- Older versions or an unknown version: guides commonly instruct administrators to copy the player’s ID from
deeplistand pass that value toop. - If the first attempt fails: confirm the version, then try the other value from the same
deeplistoutput. Do not guess an identifier or use a display name that does not exactly match the server’s record.
Step 4: Grant administrator status with op
With the player still connected, enter the appropriate command:
op PlayerNameFor a server that expects a UID, enter:
op PlayerIDReplace PlayerName or PlayerID with the exact value from the server. Names are case-sensitive. If the player joined as MiraColony, op miracolony may not target the same account.

What success looks like
A successful command normally produces a confirmation in the console or causes the account to be recognized as an operator. The exact wording is host- and version-dependent, so the absence of an identical message is not by itself proof of failure. Have the player leave and rejoin if the new permission does not appear immediately, then check the admin controls described below.

Step 5: Have the new admin open the admin controls
Admin status and the in-game admin interface are related but separate steps. The newly promoted player should:
- Join the server with the account that was promoted.
- Press Esc and open Options.
- Enable Development Mode.
- Return to the Esc menu and look for the Admin menu. Depending on the RimWorld Together version, an admin control may also appear at the top-right of the game screen after login.
The admin panel can expose controls for settings such as the mod list and difficulty. It can also allow an administrator to bypass mod-list restrictions. Only grant this role to people who should be able to change those shared-server settings.
Step 6: Remove access with deop
To revoke administrator privileges, use the same identifier format and value:
deop PlayerNameOn a server that uses UIDs, run:
deop PlayerIDUsing a different spelling, a new display name, or the wrong identifier format can leave the original account promoted. Run deeplist again if you are unsure which value was used. Have the player reconnect and verify that the Admin menu and related controls are no longer available.

Troubleshooting failed promotions
The console says the player cannot be found
- Confirm the person has joined the server at least once.
- Run
deeplistwhile they are online. - Copy the username or UID directly from that output instead of retyping it.
- Check capitalization, spaces, underscores, and other characters.
- Confirm whether the server is 25.12.13.1 or newer. Use the username on that version; try the UID on an older or uncertain build.
op PlayerName is rejected on a newer server
First verify that the name is the account name created when the player joined, not a nickname shown elsewhere. If it is exact and still fails, run deeplist and inspect whether the server reports a UID. Some installations may lag behind the version behavior described by the wiki; in that case, the UID is the practical fallback. Record the server version and console response before asking the host for version-specific syntax.
The command appears to work, but no Admin menu appears
- Ask the player to disconnect and reconnect with the same account that was promoted.
- Have them open Esc → Options and enable Development Mode.
- Check both the Esc menu and the top-right area of the game screen for the admin control; the location differs by version.
- Run
deeplistand repeat the promotion using the exact identifier if the controls remain absent.
The wrong person received access
Immediately run deop for the identifier that was targeted. Then run deeplist and verify the intended account before issuing op again. This is why copying the value from the console is safer than relying on memory or a similarly named player.
The console interface has no obvious command box
Hosting panels use different names for their live interfaces. Look for a tab labeled Console, Terminal, or Live Console within the specific server instance. Do not enter these commands in the game’s regular chat unless your host explicitly documents chat-to-console forwarding. If the panel offers only a log viewer, it may not have command input enabled; contact the host for the correct console access method.
The server is offline
The documented procedure operates against the running server and requires the target player to be known to it. Start the server, wait until it accepts connections, have the player join, and then run deeplist followed by op. Stopping the server is relevant to some configuration-file edits, but it is not a prerequisite established for the op/deop commands.
Operational and security practices
Grant the smallest necessary access
An admin can reach controls that affect the mod list and difficulty and may bypass mod-list restrictions. Promote only trusted collaborators, and remove access with deop when a player no longer needs it.
Keep an audit trail
Write down the date, account name, identifier format, and command used. If a permission change is disputed, the console log and your notes show which account was targeted. Do not publish UIDs in public chat, screenshots, or support posts.
Use exact account names
Commands are case-sensitive. A visually similar name can point to a different account or fail silently. Copying from deeplist avoids typographical errors and makes later deop operations reversible.
Do not assume first-join behavior
Some hosting instructions claim that the first player to join is automatically an admin during setup, but that behavior is not consistently established. Treat a player as an administrator only after an explicit, successful op command and a verified admin interface.

RimWorld Together server commands are presented through the hosting environment, so menu labels, confirmation text, and the shape of deeplist output can vary. The central workflow remains:
- Identify the installed server version.
- Connect the intended player once and keep them online.
- Open the provider’s live console.
- Run
deeplist. - Use the username on version 25.12.13.1 or newer, or the required UID on older or uncertain versions.
- Run
op, then verify the player’s admin controls.
If that sequence does not work, preserve the exact console output and server version. Those details distinguish an identifier mismatch from a host panel that is not sending commands to the correct server instance.
