Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsTo show Super Chat alerts over a YouTube looping stream, add a third-party alert overlay to the OBS scene as a Browser Source. First make sure YouTube allows Supers on your channel and stream; then configure an alert widget, place it above the looping video in OBS, and test the composition before going live. OBS does not provide the alerts itself.
Before you set up the alert
A Browser Source can display an alert overlay, but it cannot enable Super Chat on YouTube or bypass YouTube’s eligibility rules. Check the channel and the particular stream in YouTube Studio before configuring the widget.

- Confirm that Super Chat, part of YouTube Supers, is available and enabled for your channel. Availability depends on location and YouTube’s policies.
- Check the stream’s visibility and audience settings. YouTube excludes age-restricted, unlisted, and private videos, made-for-kids videos, and YouTube Giving fundraisers from Super Chat.
- Make sure live chat and comments are not turned off. Supers are unavailable when they are disabled.
These are YouTube-level restrictions. A correctly configured overlay cannot make an ineligible stream accept Super Chats.
Route 1: Add a provider’s alert overlay as an OBS Browser Source
This is the standard OBS approach: create an alert with a third-party service, then display its overlay URL in the scene that carries the looping video.

- 15 Customizable LCD Keys: instantly control your apps, tools and platforms.
- One-Touch Operation: trigger single or multiple actions, launch social posts, adjust audio, mute mic, turn on lights, and much more.
- Visual Feedback: know that your command has been executed.
- Powerful Plugins: Elgato 4KCU, OBS, Twitch, YouTube, Twitter, Discord, Spotify, Philips Hue, and many more.
- Hotkey Actions: streamline your film editing, music production, photography workflow, etc.
- Check the YouTube stream first. In YouTube Studio, confirm Super Chat eligibility, stream visibility, audience setting, and live-chat availability. Resolve any YouTube-side restriction before testing the overlay.
- Connect YouTube to StreamElements. In StreamElements, connect the relevant YouTube account and create or select a YouTube overlay or theme.
- Limit the AlertBox to Super Chat. Open the overlay’s AlertBox settings. Leave SuperChat enabled and turn off other event types if you want only Super Chat popups.
- Copy the overlay URL. Use the URL provided for that overlay; it is what OBS will render.
- Add it to the looping-stream scene. In OBS, select the scene used for the looping video and add a Browser Source. Paste the overlay URL into the source’s URL field and set its width and height to match your stream canvas. StreamElements’ example uses 1920×1080; use your actual canvas dimensions if they differ.
- Layer and position the source. Make the Browser Source visible and place it above the video source in the scene’s source stack. Resize or position it so the alert appears where you want without obscuring important parts of the picture.
- Test before going live. Confirm that the alert is enabled, the Browser Source is visible, its URL is correct, and its dimensions match the canvas. If an alert does not appear, check whether the provider has paused or muted alerts as well as checking the URL and source visibility.
Route 2: Use the StreamElements SE.Live add-on workflow
StreamElements also documents a YouTube AlertBox workflow through its SE.Live add-on. Its guide, dated May 8, 2025, specifies OBS v31.x or newer for that add-on workflow. That version requirement is not a general requirement for every third-party Browser Source alert in standard OBS.
- Use OBS v31.x or newer if you are following the cited SE.Live guide.
- Connect the YouTube account in StreamElements, then create or select a YouTube overlay.
- In AlertBox settings, leave SuperChat enabled and disable other event types if you want Super Chat alerts only.
- Copy the overlay URL and add it as a Browser Source to the OBS scene used by the looping video. Match the source dimensions to the stream canvas; 1920×1080 is the guide’s example, not a universal setting.
- Check visibility, layer order, URL, and alert pause or mute status, then test the composition before broadcasting.
Choose this route if you specifically want to follow StreamElements’ add-on guide. If you prefer to use standard OBS without that add-on workflow, use the Browser Source route above.

Keep the alert separate from YouTube’s break overlay
YouTube’s “Overlay for breaks” is a separate break-screen feature, not the way to create Super Chat notifications. For Super Chat popups in OBS, use an alert provider’s overlay as a Browser Source.
What to expect on a looping broadcast
Put the Browser Source in the same OBS scene as the looping video so the alert is part of that scene’s output. The setup guidance for alert overlays does not establish whether every repeating-video configuration changes alert delivery, so test the actual scene and broadcast arrangement you plan to use. This article covers adding the alert; it does not configure the video to repeat indefinitely.

Common problems and fixes
- No Super Chat option or no eligible event: Check YouTube’s Supers availability and the particular stream’s visibility, audience setting, age restriction, fundraiser status, live chat, and comments. The overlay cannot override YouTube restrictions.
- The alert widget shows nothing: Confirm SuperChat is enabled in AlertBox settings and that alerts are not paused or muted.
- The Browser Source is blank: Check that you copied the correct overlay URL and pasted it into the OBS Browser Source.
- The alert is hidden behind the video: Make the Browser Source visible and move it above the video source in the scene’s source stack.
- The alert is clipped or misplaced: Set Browser Source dimensions to match the stream canvas, then reposition or resize the source in the scene.
- You are following SE.Live instructions on an older OBS version: The StreamElements SE.Live guide specifies OBS v31.x or newer. That requirement applies to its add-on workflow, not to generic Browser Sources in OBS.
Or let it run in the cloud
If your main goal is keeping a YouTube loop live without leaving a computer running, StreamNeo runs uploaded videos from the cloud. Upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key, and go live. This is separate from the OBS alert setup: the OBS Browser Source described above is for an OBS scene, and no StreamNeo alert-overlay capability is established here.
- Nothing has to stay on at home; the stream continues from the cloud.
- Videos stream as uploaded at any quality up to 4K 60fps for one flat price per slot, with no re-encode or quality tiers.
- StreamNeo automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream.
- The first day is free with no card required.
Monthly: $9.99 per month. StreamNeo is for YouTube streams of uploaded videos, not camera broadcasts. Learn more at StreamNeo, or start the free first day.
