To activate a Fizz physical SIM, sign in to your Fizz account, start a mobile plan, enter the activation code printed on the SIM, and follow the prompts to choose a new number or transfer your existing one. For eSIM, select eSIM during plan setup and install it through Fizz’s account flow. If you’re transferring a number, keep your current plan and SIM or eSIM active until the transfer finishes, and approve the authorization text from your current provider.
Before you start a number transfer
Gather the details Fizz needs and keep your existing line working. Cancelling your old plan before the transfer completes can make the number unavailable to port. Fizz disconnects the old provider as part of a completed transfer. See Fizz’s number-transfer instructions.

- Keep the current mobile plan active and leave its SIM or eSIM available to receive text messages.
- Have your current provider account number ready, or the IMEI of the device currently using the number. Dial
*#06#to display the IMEI; if it is longer than 15 digits, Fizz says to use the first 15. - Save any voicemail messages you want to keep. Fizz says messages saved with the previous provider are lost after transferring the number.
Activate a physical Fizz SIM
- Sign in to your Fizz account and open Overview > Add a plan, or go to Fizz’s SIM activation page.
- Enter the activation code printed on the SIM, then follow the setup prompts to configure and confirm your plan.
- Choose a new phone number or select the option to transfer your current number. For a transfer, provide the requested account number or IMEI details.
- Insert the SIM into an unlocked, compatible phone. Fizz’s SIM can be detached to fit mini, micro, or nano SIM slots.
- If you chose a new number, Fizz says service is generally active within minutes. If you requested a transfer, follow the authorization steps below and allow up to two hours after plan activation for the transfer to complete.
Activate a Fizz eSIM
Choose eSIM during Fizz plan setup and follow the account flow to install it, using the QR-code or account-based instructions shown for your plan. You need an eSIM-compatible phone and internet access for installation. Fizz does not publish a complete supported-device list; its eSIM instructions suggest dialing *#06# and checking whether an EID appears as an indication of compatibility. Verify compatibility for your specific phone before starting.
If the eSIM appears installed but a number transfer has not started, open My plans > Manage my plan > Install my eSIM and start the transfer if the button is available. Keep the old provider’s SIM or eSIM active until you receive and approve its authorization text. Do not delete an active or pending Fizz eSIM. If you have deleted it, follow the recovery instructions in your Fizz account or contact Fizz chat; the steps depend on whether the transfer has started.

Approve the number transfer
- After you submit the transfer request, watch for an authorization SMS from your current provider. The message is sent to the number you are moving, so the old SIM or eSIM must still be able to receive it.
- Reply YES within the deadline stated in the text. Without approval, the transfer cannot complete and the request may be cancelled or held for action.
- Wait for Fizz’s account notification or email confirming progress or completion. Fizz says a transfer may take up to two hours after plan activation.
If the authorization message does not arrive, Fizz advises contacting your current provider. Do not cancel that provider’s plan while waiting or retrying.
When you can’t transfer the number
Fizz lists these restrictions in its transfer FAQ:
- The number must still be active with the current provider.
- Landline and VoIP numbers cannot be transferred.
- A number with an area code outside the Fizz subscription area cannot be transferred.
- A number already active on a Fizz plan cannot be moved onto that same active plan; a new Fizz plan is required for a port-in.
Troubleshoot a failed or stuck transfer
- No authorization SMS: Confirm the old SIM or eSIM is active and can receive messages at the number being transferred. If the text still does not arrive, contact the current provider.
- You missed the text or declined the request: Check Fizz’s notification or email for the next action. The request may have been cancelled or left waiting for action.
- The transfer failed: Check that the account details you supplied are current, then use the restart link in Fizz’s notification or email. Keep the old plan active while retrying. See Fizz’s transfer troubleshooting page.
- The eSIM was deleted: Don’t repeatedly order or delete eSIM profiles. Follow the recovery directions in your account or contact Fizz chat, since the recovery path depends on whether the transfer has begun.

Choose based on your phone’s compatibility, whether you can get online for eSIM installation, and whether you prefer a removable card or digital installation. The number-transfer approval step is the same either way.

Changing the number later
Fizz says a selected or transferred number must remain on the plan for at least 30 days before you can change it. See Fizz’s phone-number selection FAQ.
