What you need to access Miami Zero
Miami Zero launched on October 15, 2026 as free downloadable content for Quarantine Zone: The Last Check. Brigada Games described it as a free update for all owners of the original game, not a separate paid product. The Xbox announcement lists Xbox Series X|S and PC availability, including Xbox and PC Game Pass. The Steam announcement likewise says owners should update the base game to the latest version to access the content.

- A supported platform: Steam on PC, Xbox Series X|S, or the Xbox app on PC.
- A valid entitlement: ownership of Quarantine Zone: The Last Check, or an active Xbox/PC Game Pass entitlement where the game is included.
- The current build: Miami Zero was released in the October 15 update, and Patch #1 followed on October 16.
- Enough installation time: the expansion is delivered through the game update, so the campaign may not appear until the download and installation finish.
You do not need to buy a separate Miami Zero license when your account already owns the base game or has the applicable Game Pass access. If a subscription expires or the base-game entitlement belongs to another account, the campaign will not be available to that account.

How to open the Miami Zero campaign
Steam on PC
- Open Steam and sign in to the account that owns Quarantine Zone: The Last Check.
- Open Library, select the game, and allow Steam to begin any pending download.
- To check manually, open the game’s Properties, choose Updates, and confirm that Steam is allowed to keep the game updated. Start the download if Steam is waiting for approval or paused.
- Wait until the download and installation show as complete. Do not launch while Steam is still applying the update.
- Launch Quarantine Zone: The Last Check from the normal Steam game entry. Miami Zero is described as campaign content inside the base game, not a separate executable.
- From the game’s campaign or new-game screen, select the Miami Zero entry if it is shown. Keep your original campaign or Endless slot untouched while you verify that the new campaign starts correctly.
Brigada Games’ October 15 Steam announcement states that Miami Zero is available immediately as a free update and that updating to the latest version is the access requirement. The October 16 Steam patch addresses issues reported after launch, so letting Steam install the newest available build is preferable to stopping at the first October 15 download.

Xbox Series X|S
- Sign in to the Xbox profile that owns the base game or has the eligible Xbox Game Pass entitlement.
- Open My games & apps, locate Quarantine Zone: The Last Check, and check for an available update.
- Start the update and leave the console connected until installation is complete.
- Launch the regular game tile after the update finishes. Miami Zero should appear as a campaign option within the game rather than as a separate title.
- If the option is missing, quit the game completely from the Xbox guide, wait for the update queue to finish, and launch it again.
The Xbox Wire announcement from Game Director Egor Zaitsev says Miami Zero is available on Xbox Series X|S and is free to owners of the original game. It also identifies Xbox Game Pass as a supported access route.
Xbox app on PC and PC Game Pass
- Open the Xbox app for PC and sign in with the Microsoft account holding the game purchase or the active PC Game Pass entitlement.
- Open your installed games, select Quarantine Zone: The Last Check, and apply any pending update.
- Wait for the Xbox app to finish downloading and installing the update before starting the game.
- Launch through the Xbox app’s normal game entry and check the campaign selection screen for Miami Zero.
- If the campaign does not appear, close the game and the Xbox app, reopen the app, and check the game’s update status again.
Game Pass access depends on the account and subscription that currently carries the entitlement. A family member’s subscription, a different Microsoft account, or an expired plan may make the title appear unavailable even though another account in the household can launch it.
Do you have to buy Miami Zero separately?
No. The official Steam announcement calls Miami Zero a free update for all Quarantine Zone owners. The Xbox Wire announcement says it is free to owners of the original game and available through Xbox and PC Game Pass. That means the purchase you need is the base game entitlement, not a second Miami Zero transaction.

The announcements do not describe Miami Zero as a standalone purchase or separate launcher. If a store page offers an additional item, verify that it is not an unrelated bundle or add-on before paying; the developer’s stated access method is the free base-game update.

Can an existing campaign or Endless save continue in Miami Zero?
There is no official confirmation that it can. The October 15 launch announcements explain how to obtain Miami Zero and describe its new campaign, but they do not promise import of an existing base-game campaign or Endless save. They also do not document shared save slots, transfer of unlocks, or conversion of the old save format.
That omission does not prove that importing is impossible, and it does not mean the update will delete or corrupt your files. It means compatibility is undocumented. Treat Miami Zero as a separate campaign until Brigada Games publishes explicit migration instructions or a save-compatibility statement.
The October 16 Miami Zero Patch #1 announcement refers to players who had already started Miami Zero playthroughs and lists fixes for Miami-specific launch issues. It does not describe a process for converting an earlier campaign or Endless run into Miami Zero.
Safe procedure for returning players
Use this procedure before experimenting with the new campaign. It protects your existing progress without assuming anything about how the game stores saves.

- Finish or pause the current run. Exit through the game’s normal save-and-quit flow so the latest progress is written before the update is applied.
- Wait for synchronization. On Steam, allow Steam Cloud to finish syncing. On Xbox, leave the console online long enough for the profile and game data to synchronize.
- Make a separate backup where your platform permits it. Keep the backup outside the active save location and do not rename or edit the files unless the platform or developer specifically instructs you to.
- Install the Miami Zero update. Do not cancel the download midway or launch an incomplete installation.
- Keep the old slot intact. If the game offers a new campaign slot, use it. Do not overwrite the campaign or Endless slot you may want to revisit.
- Start Miami Zero from its own entry. If the menu presents a separate Miami Zero campaign, continue from that entry instead of loading the old run and assuming it has been converted.
- Test only after the old data is safe. If the new campaign launches, quit normally once and confirm that the original slot still appears before making further changes.
These are precautionary steps for an undocumented compatibility boundary. They are not evidence that the game damages saves during the update.
What Miami Zero adds
Miami Zero is a prequel campaign set in Miami at the origin of the outbreak. It changes the setting and adds systems beyond the original campaign.

The two official descriptions use slightly different wording for some features: Xbox Wire specifies more than 30 unique survivors and names the research centre, while the Steam announcement emphasizes dozens of campaign-exclusive survivors, medicine research and development, and ship repair. Both describe the same free Miami prequel update.
Why Miami Zero may not show after updating
The update is still downloading or applying
The most common explanation is an incomplete installation. Check the platform’s download queue and wait until the game update is fully installed. A game that has downloaded files but is still verifying or applying them may launch without exposing the new campaign.

The game was left suspended
Resume-and-relaunch behavior can leave an older game process running. Fully quit Quarantine Zone: The Last Check, then start it again after the update completes. On a console, use the system’s quit command rather than returning only to the home screen. On PC, close the game window and relaunch from Steam or the Xbox app.
You launched from the wrong account
Confirm that the signed-in Steam or Microsoft account is the one that owns the base game or carries the relevant Game Pass entitlement. The update itself does not grant access to an account that cannot launch the original game.
The installation is on an older build
Steam released Miami Zero on October 15, 2026 and Patch #1 on October 16. Check the platform’s update status rather than relying on the date the game was first installed. If the store reports an update, allow it to finish, then restart the game.

Miami Zero is campaign content inside the base game. Look in the game’s campaign or new-game selection rather than searching the operating system for a separate Miami Zero application. The official announcements do not identify a separate executable.

Cloud synchronization is delayed
Allow Steam Cloud or Xbox synchronization to complete before switching devices. If you start on another device too quickly, the platform may show an older local state. Do not overwrite the original save while trying to resolve a missing campaign.

- Do not assume that an old campaign automatically becomes a Miami Zero campaign.
- Do not assume that Endless unlocks, research, tools, currency, or other progression carries over; no official transfer list has been published.
- Do not assume that a missing Miami Zero menu means the old save is incompatible. First verify entitlement, update completion, and a full relaunch.
- Do not delete local or cloud saves as a first troubleshooting step.
- Do not overwrite a working slot merely to test whether Miami Zero can load it.
If Brigada Games later publishes migration instructions, follow those instructions for the specific platform and game version. Until then, the safest interpretation is that Miami Zero has its own campaign entry and that existing-save continuity remains unconfirmed.
