Tata Elxsi’s three corporate actions affect different parts of your investment. A dividend pays cash without adding shares. A bonus issue credits additional shares without a subscription payment. A stock split changes the denomination of each share and increases the number of shares in the approved proportion. In both a bonus issue and a split, the quoted per-share price and other per-share measures are mechanically adjusted.

Your entitlement is determined by the company’s record date and the exchange’s ex-date and settlement process. After the action, check your demat quantity, face-value information, average-cost display and, for a dividend, the gross amount, any tax deduction shown by the broker or registrar, and the net bank credit.

At a glance: what changes in each action

Action What you receive or change Tata Elxsi date or amount established in official records Effect on per-share figures
Dividend Cash for each eligible share; no new shares FY2025-26 final dividend: Rs.35 per Rs.1 share, including a Rs.10 special one-time dividend; record date 12 August 2026 (National Stock Exchange of India notice, 2026) Market price can adjust down by approximately the dividend around the ex-dividend date, although trading conditions determine the actual move
Bonus issue Additional shares credited without a subscription payment NSE corporate-action history records a bonus-share allotment with a 2 November 2024 record date; the indexed table does not show the ratio More shares represent the same company equity, so price and measures such as EPS are mechanically rebased
Stock split Each existing share is divided into a specified number of shares with a lower face value NSE records a share-split record date of 13 December 2016; the indexed table does not show the split ratio Share quantity rises and the quoted price is mechanically reduced in proportion to the approved split

The dates in the table are record dates, not a promise that a transaction will appear in your account immediately. Broker processing, depository posting and statement cycles can create a short delay.

The latest Tata Elxsi dividend

The latest official FY2025-26 final dividend notice states “Rs. 35/- per equity share of the face value of Rs. 1/- each,” and says that Rs.10 of that amount is a special one-time dividend. The stated record date is 12 August 2026. This is a cash entitlement: multiply the number of eligible shares by Rs.35 to calculate the announced gross amount.

For example, an investor entitled on 100 shares would have a gross entitlement of Rs.3,500 before any deduction or account-level adjustment. The dividend does not turn those 100 shares into 135 shares, and it does not alter the number shown in the demat account merely because cash is paid.

The 2024 Tata Elxsi filing illustrates why the denomination must accompany every historical dividend figure. For FY2023-24, the board recommended a dividend of 700%, expressed as Rs.70 per equity share of Rs.10 each. “700%” is a percentage of face value, not a yield on the market price. Comparing that Rs.70 figure directly with the later Rs.35 figure would be misleading unless the face-value denomination and any intervening corporate action are first reconciled.

Dividend timing and price adjustment

Eligibility is date-driven. The record date identifies the shareholder position the company uses for the entitlement, while the ex-dividend date and exchange settlement rules determine when a buyer is no longer entitled. The exact ex-date for a particular notice should be taken from the relevant exchange or your broker’s corporate-action calendar; it is not supplied in the cited notice.

On or around the ex-dividend adjustment, the quoted share price may fall by approximately the declared dividend because the buyer no longer receives that cash. That is a mechanical reference point, not a guaranteed one-day movement. News, market-wide trading, liquidity and investor demand can produce a larger fall, a smaller fall or a rise.

How the 2024 bonus issue changes your holding

NSE’s official corporate-action history records “Allotment of Bonus Shares” for Tata Elxsi with a 2 November 2024 record date. A qualifying holder receives additional shares without paying a subscription price. The credit is an allocation of the company’s existing equity among a larger number of shares; it is not an instant creation of additional economic value.

The indexed NSE table available for this record does not display the bonus ratio. Do not infer a ratio from a changed quantity, a rounded price or a third-party summary. Verify the ratio in the original exchange attachment or Tata Elxsi notice before using it to calculate an entitlement.

What you should see after a bonus credit

  • The demat quantity should increase by the number of bonus shares calculated under the approved ratio.
  • The market price should be rebased mechanically because the same company value is represented by more shares. The actual traded price can then move for ordinary market reasons.
  • Per-share measures, including earnings per share, are restated or rebased to reflect the enlarged share count. A lower EPS after the credit does not by itself indicate weaker operating performance.
  • Your broker’s average-cost display may change or may take additional processing time. Keep the depository statement and the corporate-action advice as the authoritative record while the display updates.

A bonus credit is therefore different from a dividend: the immediate account change is in share quantity, not a cash deposit. If you sell before the applicable ex-date or fail the record-date eligibility test, the bonus may not be credited even if another investor receives it.

What the 2016 stock split means for historical Tata Elxsi data

NSE records “Record Date for Split of Shares” for Tata Elxsi with a 13 December 2016 record date. A split changes the face-value denomination and multiplies the number of shares according to an approved ratio. The market price is mechanically adjusted in the opposite direction so that the holding’s value is broadly unchanged at the instant of the conversion.

The available official records expose an important denomination change: Tata Elxsi’s April 2024 filing refers to Rs.10 equity shares, while the 2026 dividend notice refers to Rs.1 equity shares. Those two documents should not be compared as if their per-share amounts used the same unit. The indexed NSE action table does not show the 2016 split ratio, so the exact multiplication factor must be confirmed from the original attachment or company notice before converting old quantities or prices.

Why a split can make your statement look different

  • The number of shares rises in the approved proportion, while the face value per share falls in the same conversion.
  • A historical price chart may be adjusted by a data provider. Check whether the chart is split-adjusted before comparing a pre-2016 price with a current quote.
  • Per-share earnings, book value and dividend figures can be restated to maintain comparability. A per-share number without its face-value basis is incomplete.
  • The total market value of the holding is not created by the split itself. Subsequent market trading, dividends and business performance determine gains or losses.

Record date, ex-date and settlement: a practical eligibility check

Use the following sequence for any Tata Elxsi dividend, bonus or split notice. It separates the legal entitlement date from the time your broker finishes posting the event.

  1. Read the issuer and exchange notice. Confirm whether the action is a dividend, bonus allotment or split, whether shareholder approval is required, the face-value denomination and the stated record date.
  2. Find the ex-date and settlement treatment. Use the exchange notice or your broker’s corporate-action calendar. The record date alone does not tell you the last trading day on which a purchase will qualify.
  3. Match the position. Compare the quantity held around the relevant cutoff with the broker’s contract note and the depository or demat statement. Include shares held in more than one account if the registrar treats them separately.
  4. Wait for processing, then verify. For a bonus or split, check the revised quantity, face value and average-cost display. For a dividend, check the gross entitlement, any tax deduction shown, and the net bank credit.
  5. Retain the evidence. Save the exchange or company notice, the broker corporate-action advice, the demat statement and the bank or tax statement. These records resolve most quantity and cash discrepancies.

Why the price, quantity or average cost in your account changed

Quantity changed but no cash arrived

This pattern is consistent with a bonus issue or split, not a dividend. Confirm the action type in the notice, then check whether the new quantity reflects the approved ratio. A bonus adds shares while preserving the face-value denomination; a split changes the denomination as part of the conversion.

Cash arrived but the share count stayed the same

This is the normal dividend pattern. Reconcile the number of eligible shares with the announced per-share amount, then compare the gross figure with the bank credit and the separate tax or TDS entry. A cash dividend does not require the broker to add shares.

The quoted price dropped sharply

A dividend, bonus or split can produce a mechanical adjustment, but none guarantees a particular market move. Dividend ex-date adjustment is related to the cash amount; bonus and split adjustments reflect the larger share count or changed denomination. Market news and trading conditions can move the price beyond, below or against the mechanical direction.

The average cost looks wrong after a corporate action

Broker interfaces may update quantity and cost fields at different times. First compare the post-action demat quantity with the registrar or depository record. Then ask the broker how it allocates historical cost for the specific action. Do not use an unadjusted screen value to calculate a tax or performance result when the face value or share count has changed.

Dividend statements, TDS and records

For the FY2025-26 action, treat Rs.35 per eligible Rs.1 share as the announced gross amount. Your bank may show a net credit if a deduction is recorded, while the broker or registrar may show a separate tax or TDS line. The amount of any deduction depends on the applicable rules and your account documentation; no tax rate is established in the cited corporate-action records.

Keep the dividend advice with the relevant financial-year statement. If the gross calculation and the net credit differ, check whether the difference is identified as TDS or another account adjustment before contacting support. A missing bank credit is not evidence that the shares were ineligible until the record-date position and statement entries have been reconciled.

What to do if a bonus, split or dividend is missing

  1. Confirm that the event and record date belong to Tata Elxsi and to the correct security in your account.
  2. Check the broker’s corporate-action page and the demat statement for postings made after the record date.
  3. For a bonus or split, compare both quantity and face-value fields; a quantity-only check can miss a denomination update.
  4. For a dividend, calculate the expected gross amount from eligible shares and the announced per-share figure, then compare it with bank and TDS entries.
  5. If the records still disagree, contact Tata Elxsi investor relations or its registrar and transfer agent, MUFG Intime India, using the issuer’s investor page. Provide the folio or demat details, record date, broker statement and the relevant notice.

How to compare Tata Elxsi figures across years

Always write the face value next to a per-share amount. The 2024 filing’s Rs.70 recommendation was stated on Rs.10 shares, while the latest notice states Rs.35 on Rs.1 shares and includes a special one-time component. A percentage such as 700% describes the relationship to face value; it is not directly comparable with a rupee amount issued on a different denomination.

For a reliable historical comparison, record four fields together: the action type, the record date, the face value and the per-share amount or ratio. Then adjust the share count and per-share figures for any intervening split or bonus before comparing dividends, EPS, prices or portfolio returns. If the original ratio is unavailable, label the conversion as unresolved rather than inserting an estimate.

Key takeaways for shareholders

  • A dividend is cash income and leaves your share quantity unchanged.
  • A bonus issue increases share quantity without a subscription payment; the 2024 Tata Elxsi record date is established, but the ratio must be verified from the original notice.
  • A split changes denomination and share quantity; Tata Elxsi’s 2016 record date is established, but the ratio must also be verified before calculation.
  • Record date, ex-date and settlement determine eligibility; a broker posting delay does not necessarily mean an entitlement was lost.
  • Use face value when interpreting historical Tata Elxsi per-share numbers, and reconcile demat, broker, bank and tax statements after every action.
