How Squad’s Logistics, Teamwork, and Ticket System Work for New Players

Squad is won by coordinated teams, not lone kills. Stay with your squad, communicate through the correct voice channel, move construction and ammunition supplies to forward operating bases (FOBs), and treat every spawn, radio and vehicle as a shared resource. The team that protects its infrastructure and spends fewer tickets usually outlasts the other side.

What Squad expects from a new player

The Squad Wiki describes Squad as “an online, team-based, military themed first-person-shooter created and developed by Offworld Industries. The game encourages high levels of teamwork and communication” (Squad Wiki, accessed 2026). That description is more than marketing: most of the systems that confuse beginners—spawn points, logistics, radios and tickets—are designed around coordinated decisions.

Your first objective is therefore not to find the most kills. Join a squad with a clear role, tell the squad leader that you are new, and follow the squad marker. A rifleman who stays near the group, reports contacts and supplies ammunition can contribute more than a player who repeatedly attacks alone.

Use the right voice channel

  • Squad voice: use it for information your squad needs, such as enemy locations, movement orders, vehicle requests or a downed teammate.
  • Local voice: use it for nearby players who may not be in your squad, especially when coordinating a breach, defense or vehicle movement.
  • Contact reports: keep reports short and specific. Give direction, approximate distance, landmark, enemy type and movement, for example, “Two infantry, east, 100 meters, behind the stone wall, moving north.”

Do not occupy a logistics truck, helicopter or high-value combat vehicle without asking. Those assets belong to the team’s plan, and losing one can cost substantially more tickets than an ordinary infantry death.

How logistics supplies a team

Logistics enables teams to deploy and maintain a network of FOBs by providing construction and ammunition supplies in bulk. Supplies are carried by logistics vehicles and aircraft, then transferred into a FOB’s storage or delivery area. The basic loop is simple: load at main or another FOB, travel to the destination, unload the requested mixture inside the correct transfer radius, and return or safely recover the vehicle.

Construction supplies

Construction is the resource used to pay for deployables. It is especially important for building spawn bunkers, but it also supports ammunition crates, repair stations and fortifications. Without enough construction, a squad leader may have a radio placed but be unable to create the defensive or spawning structures that make the position useful.

Ammunition supplies

Ammunition supplies resupply infantry, vehicles and emplacements. A position can have a functioning spawn bunker and still be tactically weak if its ammo supply is empty: riflemen cannot rearm, vehicles cannot replenish their relevant stores, and defensive emplacements may be unable to operate as intended.

Supply type What it pays for Typical beginner question
Construction Spawn bunkers, ammunition crates, repair stations and fortifications “Can the squad build the requested deployable?”
Ammunition Resupply for infantry, vehicles and emplacements “Can players and assets rearm here?”

Two ways to obtain supplies

  1. Run from main: load supplies at the team’s main base, then drive or fly to the destination FOB. The applicable main-base transfer range is map-specific, so check the map and squad instructions before unloading.
  2. Transfer from another FOB: move supplies between established FOBs. The vehicle must be within the relevant construction radius of the source and destination areas for the transfer to register.

Before taking a logistics vehicle, ask the squad leader for the construction-to-ammunition split and the exact FOB or build site. Announce that you are leaving, state what you are carrying and report when the load is delivered. A short message such as “Running one construction, one ammo to the east FOB; returning after unload” prevents two drivers from duplicating the same trip.

Why delivery sometimes fails

  • Outside the transfer area: move the vehicle fully into the applicable FOB construction radius or the map-specific main-base range.
  • Wrong mixture: confirm whether the squad needs construction, ammunition or both before loading.
  • Destination changed: check the map and ask the squad leader before unloading at an abandoned or overrun position.
  • Vehicle left exposed: return it to safety or recover it instead of abandoning it near the front. A lost logistics vehicle costs tickets and removes future supply capacity.
  • Radio or FOB under attack: do not drive into an obvious enemy ambush merely to complete a delivery. Report the threat and wait for an escort or a safer route.

FOB, radio, HAB, Hideout and rally: the differences

These terms describe related but separate parts of the spawn network. Understanding the distinction tells you where to defend, where to build and which spawn is appropriate in a particular moment.

Term Meaning How a new player should use it
FOB The radio-centered operating area that supports deployables and team infrastructure. Defend the radio and the area around it; it is the foundation of the position.
Radio The physical object that establishes the FOB and can be destroyed by the enemy. Keep it concealed, protected and supplied. Its loss has a major ticket cost.
HAB A persistent team spawn bunker associated with a FOB for conventional factions. Use it for repeated reinforcement when it is active and not under enemy pressure.
Hideout The unconventional-faction equivalent of a HAB. Treat it as the faction’s durable FOB spawn and defend it the same way.
Rally point A squad-level temporary spawn that operates through a wave system. Use it for the squad’s immediate regrouping or a nearby attack; it is not a replacement for a protected FOB.

FOB build radius

Deployables must be placed within 150 meters of the FOB radio. That supplied area can contain the spawn bunker, ammunition crates, repairs and fortifications. The radius is measured from the radio, not from whichever sandbag or crate happens to be closest, so a position that looks nearby may still be outside the legal build area.

Rally versus HAB or Hideout

A rally is temporary and belongs to one squad. Its wave system gives that squad a way to regroup without requiring a full FOB. Use it when the squad needs an immediate, flexible spawn near its current task.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

A HAB or Hideout is a persistent team spawn while active. It is the better choice when the team needs a durable reinforcement point, but it requires a functioning FOB radio, construction supplies and protection. Because the spawn is shared, enemies often search for the radio and the approaches around the bunker.

What enemy pressure does to a HAB

Enemy pressure can disable spawning at a HAB until the siege condition clears. In the documented case described by the Spawning page, the spawn reactivates after a 30-second condition is met. Do not assume that repeatedly clicking the spawn will bypass the restriction. Check whether the position is under attack, communicate with teammates outside the area and use another rally or FOB if available.

  • Please Note: To reach 10Gbps speed, keep the cable under 3.3 ft. For USB A Male to USB C adapters, try flipping the USB C connector. USB C Male to USB A adapters support bidirectional 10Gbps transfer within 3.3 ft

A HAB is not indestructible. Protect the radio, watch for flanking routes and keep an alternate rally or FOB available. If the only spawn is being camped, feeding players into it can create a cycle of deaths and ticket loss rather than a breakthrough.

How the ticket system works

“Tickets are the win-lose condition in Squad,” according to the Tickets page of the Official Squad Wiki. In most modes, the first team to reach zero tickets loses. The exact costs, gains and bleed rules depend on the game mode, map and server settings, so open the full-screen map and inspect the ticket information before making a risky decision.

Event Common ticket change Why it matters
Infantry loss 1 ticket Repeated unnecessary deaths add up, especially during a stalled attack.
Commander loss 2 tickets A commander should avoid avoidable exposure while managing team-level assets.
FOB radio lost 20 tickets Defending the radio protects both tickets and the team’s spawn network.
Light vehicle, transport, logistics vehicle, helicopter or cheap APC lost 5 tickets Abandoning utility vehicles removes mobility and supply capacity as well as tickets.
APC, IFV, artillery vehicle or AT light vehicle lost 10 tickets Coordinate these vehicles and avoid isolated engagements.
Main battle tank lost 15 tickets Do not take a tank into a fight without infantry support and a recovery plan.

How tickets should change your decisions

  • Take a safe revive: if a teammate can revive you without exposing the whole squad, waiting is usually better than immediately giving up.
  • Avoid solo pushes: an isolated assault often produces a death without creating pressure that the rest of the team can exploit.
  • Protect infrastructure: a radio loss is commonly worth 20 tickets, far more than one infantry death.
  • Recover vehicles: do not leave a logistics truck or combat vehicle in an exposed location when it can be returned safely.
  • Check the panel: inspect the current ticket tab on the full-screen map before committing a high-value vehicle or deciding whether a contested spawn is worth using.

A practical first-match routine

  1. Join a functioning squad. Choose one with a squad leader giving instructions, then say that you are new. If the squad has a stated task, follow it rather than creating a separate objective.
  2. Select a needed role. Take the role requested by the squad. If no role is specified, a basic rifleman role lets you learn movement, communication and resupply without controlling a scarce asset.
  3. Find the squad marker. Stay close enough to hear local instructions and support the group. If you become separated, report your position and regroup instead of silently wandering toward a distant objective.
  4. Report contacts clearly. Use direction, distance, landmark and enemy count. Avoid long stories on squad radio; give the information teammates can act on immediately.
  5. Choose a spawn deliberately. Spawn on the rally when the squad needs its immediate wave. Use a HAB or Hideout when the team needs a durable spawn and the position is not under siege. If both are compromised, ask for the safest alternative FOB.
  6. Ask before a logistics run. Confirm the destination, supply split and route. Announce departure, deliver inside the correct radius and report completion.
  7. Defend the network. Watch the radio, HAB approaches and logistics route. A few players screening the perimeter can prevent a costly radio loss.
  8. Check tickets before a gamble. Open the map’s ticket information before pushing a nearly exhausted vehicle, abandoning a repairable asset or repeatedly spawning into a trapped HAB.

Common beginner mistakes and fixes

“I spawned, but the HAB is unavailable.”

Look for the siege indicator or a nearby enemy attack. The spawn may be temporarily disabled rather than destroyed. Wait for teammates to clear the pressure if the position is defensible; otherwise use the rally or another FOB. Do not keep selecting a blocked spawn without checking the map.

“The squad leader says the FOB has supplies, but nothing can be built.”

Construction may be empty even when ammunition remains. Ask which resource is missing, then request a logistics run with the correct mixture. Also verify that the vehicle is inside the required transfer radius and that the radio is still active.

“Our logistics vehicle disappeared.”

It may have been destroyed, abandoned in enemy territory or left outside a safe recovery route. Report its last location, avoid taking another vehicle without approval and ask the squad leader whether the next run should use main or a different FOB.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

“I keep losing tickets while trying to help.”

Stop repeating an unsafe spawn or solo attack. Regroup on the squad marker, wait for a revive when practical, and ask whether the team needs defense, a logistics run or a different approach. Helping the team includes preserving your life and the assets you were trusted to use.

The short version to remember

Stay with your squad and communicate. Construction builds the network; ammunition keeps people and equipment fighting. The FOB and radio form the operating area, while the HAB or Hideout provides the persistent spawn and the rally provides a temporary squad spawn. Tickets are the match resource, so protect radios, vehicles and teammates instead of trading them for isolated attacks. Because ticket values and spawn rules can change by update, mode, map and server, verify the current numbers in the in-game ticket panel before making a costly decision.
