How Solos AirGo V2 Smart Glasses Process Voice Commands and Notifications

Solos AirGo V2 is a phone-connected system, not a self-contained voice computer. The glasses provide microphones, wake-word and touch controls, speakers, cameras and a notification LED. A paired Android or iPhone running the AirGo app supplies permissions and connectivity. Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) carries control traffic, while Wi-Fi carries AirGo V2 data. SolosChat can then process voice, image, video and text requests through Solos’ AI services. The company has not published enough low-level detail to say that speech recognition is entirely on the glasses or entirely in the cloud.

What happens when you speak to AirGo V2?

A useful way to understand AirGo V2 is as a chain of hardware, phone software and online services:

As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.

  1. You say “Hey Solos” or use a documented touch gesture.
  2. The glasses and the AirGo app establish the command and permission context through their wireless connection.
  3. For an AI request, SolosChat receives the available inputs, which can include voice, a camera image, video or text.
  4. Solos’ AI service selects the model configured in the app and returns a response or action.
  5. The glasses play spoken responses through their speakers. A notification LED can provide a visual alert, but it is separate from spoken message readout.

This is a synthesis of Solos’ published interfaces. The public documentation does not identify every stage of wake-word detection, speech recognition or model inference, so it would be inaccurate to describe the product as either fully local or fully cloud-based.

The components that do the work

The glasses

AirGo V2 supplies the microphones and audio output needed for hands-free interaction. Its camera system captures 16-megapixel still photos and 2K FHD video, allowing SolosChat to handle visual questions as well as spoken ones. A notification LED is built into the hardware. Solos lists approximately 16 hours for photo shooting and AI enquiries; that is the company’s approximate specification, not an independent voice-workload test.

  • Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
  • 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.

The AirGo phone app

The AirGo app on Android or iOS is the management layer. It pairs the glasses, requests operating-system permissions, keeps the notification features active and handles connection recovery. The app listing describes V2 Wi-Fi or hotspot transfer, faster Bluetooth reconnection and continuing fixes for SolosChat responsiveness, Wi-Fi, firmware and media synchronization. Those are release-note claims and can change as later app versions arrive.

BLE and Wi-Fi

Solos’ SDK documentation describes a split transport: Bluetooth 5.2 BLE is used for control, while Wi-Fi carries V2 data. In practical terms, BLE helps the phone and glasses coordinate commands and status; Wi-Fi is the higher-bandwidth path for V2 data such as camera or other data transfers. The exact routing of an individual voice packet is not specified publicly, and the presence of Wi-Fi does not by itself prove where speech recognition occurs.

How voice commands are triggered

Hands-free “Hey Solos” commands

The official AirGo app release notes identify hands-free “Hey Solos” voice commands as an AirGo V2 feature, alongside SolosChat 4.0 enhancements. The FAQ gives concrete device-control examples. After the wake phrase, you can say commands such as:

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.
  • “Volume Up”
  • “Volume Down”
  • “Play Music”
  • “Pause Music”
  • “Next Song”
  • “Previous Song”

These examples describe documented commands, not an unlimited natural-language control vocabulary. A phrase that is obvious to a person may still fail if it does not match a supported command or if the app, connection or permission state is wrong.

Touch activation and the phone’s assistant

Solos’ FAQ says that, after the glasses are connected to a phone, double-tapping the front-frame corner activates a phone voice assistant such as Siri. That path is different from asking SolosChat a multimodal question: the glasses are acting as an input and audio accessory for the phone assistant. The phone’s operating-system settings, assistant availability and language support therefore apply.

Multimodal SolosChat requests

Solos’ launch announcement describes SolosChat 3.0 as a multimodal AI platform combining image, video, audio and text. The cited use cases include identifying objects, translating signs and answering questions with multiple AI models. A request that needs the camera can therefore involve more than a short voice command: the image or video is an additional input, and the resulting answer is sent back as audio through the glasses.

Which AI model answers?

The FAQ lists selectable SolosChat models including gpt-4o-mini, claude-3-haiku and gemini-2.0-flash. Model availability, behavior and account requirements are controlled by Solos’ service rather than by a personal account you bring from another provider. The FAQ specifically says that personal ChatGPT or Gemini accounts cannot be shared within Solos AI services.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Solos’ product page states: “Solos operates independent servers for AI applications to ensure the best service for each account.” That confirms a vendor-operated server component for the AI applications. It does not, on its own, disclose whether wake-word detection, audio capture, transcription or any preliminary processing happens on the glasses, on the phone, or on those servers. No complete speech-data retention schedule or low-level automatic-speech-recognition architecture is published in the cited materials.

How Whisper Messages reads notifications

Whisper Messages is a phone-mediated feature. The message originates in a selected phone app, the operating system exposes the notification to AirGo, and the connected glasses read it aloud. The feature is not the same as the notification LED: an LED can signal an event visually, while Whisper Messages speaks the notification content.

Setup steps

  1. Pair AirGo V2 with the Android or iPhone in the AirGo app.
  2. Choose the instant-messaging apps you want Whisper Messages to monitor, such as WhatsApp, and make sure those apps and their accounts are already configured on the phone.
  3. Accept the Bluetooth pairing permission requested by the phone and AirGo.
  4. On iPhone, allow the AirGo app to receive notifications when iOS asks. On Android, grant the notification-access permission requested by the app; the exact screen name can vary by Android version.
  5. Keep the AirGo app running in the background. Force-closing it can prevent the documented forwarding path from working.
  6. Send a test message to the selected account. When a supported message arrives, Solos says the smartglasses will read it automatically.

The setup does not grant AirGo universal access to every message automatically. You choose apps, and the operating system’s notification and Bluetooth permissions determine whether the app can receive and forward the alert.

How Whisper Events reads calendar reminders

Whisper Events follows the same phone-first design but uses calendar data. The documented example is a Google Calendar event that is about to start.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.
  1. Enable Whisper Events in the AirGo app.
  2. Grant notification permission so AirGo can receive the phone’s event alert.
  3. Grant Calendar Access when requested.
  4. Leave the AirGo app running in the background and keep the glasses connected.
  5. Ensure the phone is not in silent mode. When a qualifying Google Calendar event is about to begin, the glasses read the event title automatically.

The documented behavior is an automatic spoken readout of the event title. It should not be interpreted as a promise that every calendar field, reminder type or third-party calendar app will be read aloud.

What you need before voice and notification features work

  • An AirGo V2 pair and a compatible Android or iOS phone.
  • The current AirGo app version available for your phone’s operating system.
  • Bluetooth enabled for pairing and control.
  • Wi-Fi or a phone hotspot for V2 data functions when the feature requires it.
  • An AirGo app session that is allowed to run in the background.
  • For voice controls, microphone, Bluetooth and any permissions requested by the app or phone assistant.
  • For Whisper Messages, notification access plus permissions for each selected messaging app.
  • For Whisper Events, notification access and Calendar Access.
  • A phone that is not in silent mode for the documented calendar readout behavior.

Permission labels differ between Android releases and iOS versions. If a feature stops working after an operating-system update, revisit the AirGo app’s Bluetooth, notification, microphone, calendar and background-operation settings rather than assuming the glasses have failed.

Hardware and connection specifications

Capability Published AirGo V2 detail What it means for voice and alerts
Still camera 16 MP Provides still images for visual SolosChat requests.
Video 2K FHD recording Supports video input for multimodal interactions and transfers.
Wireless control Bluetooth 5.2 BLE Used for control links and reconnection with the phone.
V2 data link Wi-Fi; the app also documents hotspot transfer Used for higher-bandwidth V2 data, with the phone supplying connectivity when needed.
Notification indicator LED available in the product specification Visual status or alert indication; it does not itself speak message text.
Approximate endurance About 16 hours for photo shooting and AI enquiries Solos’ approximate figure; no independent voice-command battery benchmark is published.

The SDK describes V2 as adding video, Wi-Fi, voice-activation detection and notification capabilities. It lists a Voice Command API and marks the LED Notification API as “COMING SOON.” That status is an SDK-documentation snapshot, so developers should verify the current release before building around the LED API.

Is processing on the glasses, phone or cloud?

What is established

The glasses contain the microphones, controls, camera and audio output. The phone app manages pairing and permissions. BLE and Wi-Fi have distinct documented roles. Solos operates independent servers for its AI applications, and SolosChat offers selectable hosted models. Notification text and calendar event information originate on the phone and are forwarded through AirGo to the connected glasses.

What remains undisclosed

Solos’ public materials reviewed for AirGo V2 do not specify the exact boundary between on-device wake-word detection, phone-side speech handling and server-side inference. They also do not publish a complete retention policy for voice, image, video or notification data. Consequently, claims that every command is processed locally, or that every recording is sent unchanged to the cloud, go beyond the available documentation.

For privacy decisions, treat the product as a connected system that can involve the phone, AirGo software and Solos-operated AI servers. Check the app’s current privacy notices and permission screens before enabling sensitive notification categories.

Practical troubleshooting

“Hey Solos” does nothing

  • Confirm the glasses are powered on and connected in the AirGo app, not merely visible in the phone’s Bluetooth list.
  • Check that the app has microphone and Bluetooth permissions and is allowed to run in the background.
  • Move to a quieter environment and use the documented wake phrase exactly.
  • Check Wi-Fi or hotspot availability if the request needs V2 data or SolosChat.
  • Install any available AirGo app or firmware update, then reconnect.

Music commands work, but an AI question fails

Basic playback commands and a multimodal SolosChat request can use different services and data paths. Verify Wi-Fi or hotspot connectivity, confirm that the selected SolosChat model is available in the app and check whether the camera input is required. A successful BLE connection alone does not guarantee that an online AI request can be completed.

Messages are not spoken

  • Confirm the messaging app is selected in Whisper Messages.
  • Recheck Bluetooth pairing permission and notification access.
  • Make sure the AirGo app is running in the background rather than force-closed.
  • Verify that notifications are enabled for the messaging app itself.
  • Test with a new incoming message after reconnecting the glasses.

Calendar events are silent

Check Calendar Access and notification permissions, confirm that the event is in the supported Google Calendar path described by the FAQ, keep the app active in the background and turn off the phone’s silent mode. The feature is designed to read the event title as it approaches, not to continuously announce every calendar detail.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

How to evaluate AirGo V2 for your use

Before buying or deploying the glasses, decide which behavior matters most:

  • Hands-free controls: The documented wake phrase covers common audio controls, while a double-tap can invoke the phone’s assistant.
  • AI answers: SolosChat supports multimodal inputs and lists three selectable models, but online service availability and phone connectivity are part of the experience.
  • Message awareness: Whisper Messages can read selected app notifications, provided notification access and background operation remain enabled.
  • Calendar awareness: Whisper Events needs both notification and calendar permissions and the phone must not be silent for the documented automatic readout.
  • Visual alerts: The hardware includes a notification LED, but the SDK’s LED Notification API was marked “COMING SOON” in the cited documentation.
  • Privacy control: You can limit which apps expose notifications, but the complete speech-processing and retention architecture is not publicly detailed.

The key distinction is that AirGo V2 glasses are the wearable endpoint. The phone supplies permissions and much of the connectivity, while Solos’ online AI services can supply the model response. Understanding that division explains why background-app settings, notification permissions and an internet path matter as much as the glasses themselves.
