Depending on the watch’s module, that connection can adjust the time, transfer settings, or provide features such as notifications, fitness logs, and location tools. The app and functions vary by model, so check the module number on your watch and use its specific Casio operation guide.
Does every G-SHOCK connect to a smartphone?
No. Smartphone connectivity is available only on models whose modules support Mobile Link and Bluetooth pairing. Even among compatible watches, the features are not the same. Casio’s operation guides are organized by module; check the number printed on the watch or in its documentation before following pairing instructions or installing an app.

When comparing connected models, look at three things: compatibility with the app currently specified for the module, the phone-linked functions you actually want, and how that module handles pairing and syncing. The examples below illustrate differences, not a ranking of G-SHOCK watches.

The broad setup pattern is to install the app specified for the watch, enable Bluetooth on the phone, open the app, and follow the pairing procedure in the operation guide for the exact module. Button presses, prompts, and confirmation indicators can differ, so a sequence from one G-SHOCK is not necessarily valid for another.

- From Casio, the sporty G-SQUAD meets the city streets

- Find the module number. Use the number on the watch or its documentation to locate the matching Casio operation guide.
- Check the required app. For example, Casio specifies CASIO WATCHES for Module 5713, while Module 3475 documents training features with G-SHOCK MOVE. Do not assume the app used by another model is the right one for yours.
- Enable Bluetooth and open the app. Follow the guide’s pairing instructions and keep the phone close to the watch. For Module 5467, Casio specifies a distance within one meter during pairing.
- Confirm the connection using the module’s instructions. Check the guide for the correct button sequence and the watch’s connection indicator or confirmation prompt.
For Module 5713, Casio says the phone app must be running for the function to be available: “This function is available only while the CASIO WATCHES phone app is running on the phone.” App requirements and available functions are module-specific.
How does phone-based time adjustment work?
On models with automatic time adjustment, the watch connects to the paired phone at configured or preset times. The phone obtains time information from an online time server and acts as the communication bridge, sending corrected time information to the watch. The watch’s schedule and settings depend on its module.

- Get the toughness and functionality your surfing lifestyle demands and the summery materials and colors you love in a G-SHOCK from the G-LIDE line
- Inspired by the summer surf scene, the bezel is made with two different materials to evoke the look of shimmering waves gleaming in the sunlight
- Key resin components used in the band are made with bio-based resin, a material expected to help reduce environmental impact
For example, the Module 5467 guide describes connections around 5:00 a.m., 11:00 a.m., 5:00 p.m., and 11:00 p.m.; that connection ends automatically afterward. Those are example times for that module, not a universal schedule for G-SHOCK watches.

Depending on the module, phone linking can support features beyond time adjustment. Casio’s guides provide these examples:
Rank #3
- From G-Shock, this timepiece is the latest addition to their new Power Trainer sports lineup
- The app also makes it possible to maintain step count logs with five exercise intensity levels, to calculate the calories you burn, to specify a daily step target, and more
- This timepiece links with the G-Shock Connected phone app to provide access to a number of functions that enhance workouts
- Notifications and activity records: Module 5641 lists notification linking and receipt, as well as life-log and training-log functions.
- Location and outdoor tools: Module 5713 lists location memory, a location indicator, automatic altitude calibration, and mission logging.
- Training information: Module 3475 describes viewing training records, step counts, and calorie information through G-SHOCK MOVE.
These are features documented for particular modules. They should not be treated as standard capabilities on every Bluetooth-enabled G-SHOCK.

Connection problems can come from the watch, phone, app, or surrounding conditions. Casio’s Module 5467 guide identifies several examples:
Rank #4
- Metal-clad daring meets sophisticated gleam in this Casio G-Shock that delivers Smartphone Link via Bluetooth(R) and Tough Solar charging system, all in a meticulously finished metal design with iconic octagonal bezel
- This model features a blue metallic vapor deposition dial that is complemented by a black band made of environmentally responsible bio-based resin
- The devices are too far apart: Move the phone closer to the watch and retry according to the module’s guide.
- Radio interference interrupts communication: Try again in a location with fewer sources of interference.
- The phone is updating its system: A system update can prevent correction from completing; wait until it finishes and retry.
- Automatic correction is disabled: Check the module’s settings and enable the function if you want scheduled adjustment.
- A recent time change paused scheduled correction: For Module 5467, certain manual time or home/world-time changes can pause automatic correction for 24 hours.
- The app is unavailable or not running: Check the module’s app requirement. Module 5713, for example, requires CASIO WATCHES to be running for the function described in its guide.
These failure conditions and recovery details are examples from the cited modules, not universal rules. Use the guide for your watch to confirm its settings and behavior.

A watch that connects to a phone may offer time adjustment but not the notification, training, or location functions found in other modules. Compatibility and supported features—not the presence of Bluetooth alone—are the useful comparison points.
