Treat launches as milestones—not a traffic plan by themselves—and track search visibility separately from sign-ups and other visitor actions. No single channel or posting cadence is established as best for every SaaS.
Start with a specific audience and its real questions
Define who the product is for, what problem they are trying to solve, and what they need to know before choosing a solution. Use product knowledge and customer conversations to identify questions worth answering. This gives each page a clear reader and purpose before you decide what to publish or where to promote it.

Google recommends creating content for people and a real audience, drawing on first-hand expertise, and providing enough substance to help readers accomplish their goal. It cautions against publishing primarily to attract search visits. Use the terms readers would use in prominent places such as page titles and headings, but do not assume that adding keywords or publishing more pages will automatically bring traffic. Google’s people-first content guidance and SEO guidance explain the distinction.
Make important pages accessible to search engines
Search visibility starts with eligibility, not a ranking guarantee. Check that public pages can be crawled and indexed, and that you have not accidentally blocked them in robots.txt or added a noindex directive. Give each important page a distinct, descriptive title and meta description. A sitemap can help Google discover pages, especially on a new or changing site, but submitting one does not guarantee crawling, indexing, or search display.
#1 Best Overall
- Review robots.txt and page-level indexing directives for unintended restrictions.
- Write descriptive, unique titles and meta descriptions that accurately represent each page.
- Provide a sitemap where appropriate and submit it through Search Console.
- Check important URLs in Search Console to see whether Google can access and index them.
Google’s crawling and indexing documentation covers technical access; its title-link guidance and snippet guidance describe how titles and descriptions can help Google understand pages. None of these steps guarantees a particular ranking or that a result will appear exactly as written.
Turn product progress into material people can use
Building in public can mean sharing decisions, progress, setbacks, experiments, and lessons while engaging with other people. For a SaaS founder, the strongest updates connect those details to a problem likely users recognize: why a workflow was designed a certain way, what an experiment revealed, or what trade-off remains unresolved.
Rank #2
Share where prospective customers are already active, rather than posting everywhere by default. Ask for input when there is a genuine decision to make, and respond to people who contribute. A community-maintained build-in-public guide suggests formats such as short updates, recaps, and deeper reflections across a small number of channels. Treat that as a planning idea, not evidence of an optimal posting frequency.
Community participation may help people discover the product and give the team useful feedback, but the available evidence does not establish that building in public by itself causes website traffic to rise. Make each update worthwhile on its own and give interested readers a clear route to a relevant page on your site.
Rank #3
Choose channels by fit, not by a universal ranking
Search, social feeds, community discussions, and launch platforms serve different purposes. Compare them against your audience and capacity instead of assuming one channel is best for every SaaS.
| Decision factor | Question to ask |
|---|---|
| Audience overlap | Are intended buyers present, or mainly other founders? |
| Intent | Is someone actively seeking a solution, learning about a problem, or following a founder’s progress? |
| Durability | Will the material remain useful and discoverable on your site or in search, or is it likely to fade in a feed? |
| Feedback value | Can the channel produce relevant conversations and product learning? |
| Founder effort | Can your team maintain quality and respond consistently? |
| Measurement | Can you identify referral visits, sign-ups, and later customer actions? |
These factors help you make a practical choice; they are not a published comparative study ranking channels.

Use a launch as a prepared community moment
A launch platform can create a focused discovery opportunity, but it should complement the ongoing work of useful content and community participation. Product Hunt recommends taking part in the community before launching, preparing a landing page, sharing authentically, and responding to comments. Its guidance says not to ask directly for upvotes; ask for feedback or comments instead.

- On launch: Share the launch through channels where you have actually participated, and answer questions and comments promptly.
- After launch: Use the feedback to improve the product or clarify the site, and review whether visitors took the intended next step.
Product Hunt’s guidance is that “The best day to launch is the day on which you’re most prepared.” That is a readiness principle, not a universally optimal calendar date. See Product Hunt’s launch guide and its community guidelines.

Measure search performance separately from visitor behavior
Use Google Search Console to understand Google Search impressions, clicks, and performance patterns. Use Analytics to examine sessions, landing pages, and what visitors do after arriving, such as signing up. Search Console measures search clicks and reports canonical URLs; Analytics measures sessions and behavior on tagged pages. Their totals will not match exactly, so small differences are not automatically tracking errors.
- In Search Console, look for changes in impressions and clicks, then inspect which queries and pages are contributing.
- In Analytics, examine landing pages and whether visitors complete meaningful actions such as a sign-up.
- Compare trends and investigate changes in the tools themselves rather than expecting identical counts.
Google explains the distinction in its Search Console and Analytics comparison. Measure both reach and usefulness: more visits alone do not show whether the content is reaching likely users or helping them take a relevant next step.
Read published growth examples as possibilities, not forecasts
Google Search Central’s case-study collection reports that Saramin doubled organic Search traffic, increased new sign-ups by 93%, and increased conversion by 9%. It also reports that MX Player achieved more than three times the Google organic traffic after adding video structured data and other best practices. These are organization-specific outcomes reported by Google; the available case-study information does not establish the publication dates or methods, and the results should not be treated as a forecast for a new SaaS.
