You choose a situation and how cooperative the other person should be; Gemma plays that person, then offers brief feedback and an alternative way to phrase a reply. The app’s creator says Gemma 2 2B runs locally in the browser through WebLLM, but you need a desktop browser with WebGPU and an internet connection for the initial model download.
What you can practice
The app is designed for ordinary, potentially awkward exchanges: declining an invitation, asking someone to return something, or finding a way into a conversation. You set the scene and choose how cooperative the other person will be, then try out replies in a role-play.

That makes the app most relevant if you want to get a first sentence out or test different ways to say something before a real conversation. As creator Sasivarnan R puts it, “I’m an introvert, and sometimes the hardest part of a conversation is getting the first sentence out.” The app provides a rehearsal space, not a guarantee that a particular script will work with a particular person.

- Choose a scene. Describe the situation you want to rehearse, such as turning down an invitation.
- Set the other person’s response style. Choose how cooperative they should be.
- Role-play the exchange. Gemma responds as the other person, and you try your reply.
- Review the reflection. After the exchange, the app identifies one thing you expressed clearly, offers one suggestion, and proposes another way to say it.
- Retry a reply if useful. The retry feature lets you return to an earlier message and experiment with a different response.
For a warm decline that leaves room for future plans, the creator gives this example: “Thanks for inviting me! I’m going to stay in tonight, but I’d like to join you another time.” Treat it as a starting point, not a universal script; the right wording depends on the relationship and situation.

What “local Gemma” means for privacy and connectivity
According to the creator’s description, Gemma 2 2B runs through WebLLM in a dedicated browser worker, and the conversation transcript is not sent to an inference API. The creator also says this avoids a per-conversation API bill. These are claims about the app’s stated architecture, not the results of an independent privacy audit.
Local inference does not mean the app is fully offline. The initial model download is large and requires internet access, and the creator says the app is not a fully offline installation. The creator also notes that Gemma’s terms apply.
