What’s actually slowing this PC down?

Niagara Launcher keeps its home screen compact by adding actions around a text-based app list rather than turning the screen into a conventional grid of controls. Its wave alphabet provides quick app access, while optional tools such as pop-ups, widgets and notification replies put more functions within reach. The free version includes the core layout; several personalization and utility features require Pro.
How does Niagara add features and remain minimal?
The central design choice is replacing the familiar grid of app icons with a text-forward list. Niagara’s wave alphabet is intended to make it quick to move through that list, while notification replies and pop-ups keep common actions close to the home screen. This arrangement can add ways to act without permanently filling the main screen with extra rows of icons or controls. Niagara describes its approach as reducing visual clutter and says, “Every feature is simple, impactful, and free of unnecessary complexity.” That is the developer’s design rationale, not an independent assessment of how every person will experience the launcher.

The distinction is between the number of things a launcher can do and the amount it displays at once. Niagara’s tools are presented as optional layers around the list: users can keep the home screen spare and open an extra feature when they need it.

Free does not mean that every customization or utility is included. Themes, broader personalization options, widgets and other Pro features are part of the paid tier; check the feature details before choosing the launcher if one of those is essential.
What does Niagara Pro add?
Pro extends the launcher in two directions: it lets users change more of the interface’s appearance, and it adds tools for organizing information or managing app habits. Niagara’s feature page describes the customization rationale this way: “Unlike grid-based launchers, Niagara Launcher makes text a central part of its design, so it only makes sense to let you customize how that text looks.” The page is dated July 31, 2026.

More control over appearance
Pro includes themes, icon options, fonts and clock styles, as well as built-in wallpapers. These options alter the look of the interface while retaining the list-based structure; they do not change the launcher’s basic organizing principle.
Widgets and pop-ups for extra information
Pro includes calendar and weather widgets, and widget stacks can hold up to four widgets. Pop-ups provide a separate place for apps, shortcuts, notifications or widgets. Niagara presents them as a way to group useful items while keeping the main home screen tidy, rather than displaying every item there at once.

Usage Breaker for app-time reminders
Usage Breaker provides reminders related to time spent in apps. It is a wellbeing prompt, not evidence that the launcher blocks access to apps or guarantees a change in usage habits.

Which Android versions are supported?
Google Play states that Niagara Launcher supports Android 8 and above. The developer’s support notice says updates for Android 5, 6 and 7 ended on July 1, 2026. For those older Android versions, internet-dependent Pro features are scheduled to stop working on January 1, 2027. If a device is still on Android 5–7, these dates matter separately: update support has already ended, while the stated cutoff for internet-dependent Pro features is later.
What does Niagara disclose about accessibility and data?
Google Play’s listing describes an optional accessibility service that is disabled by default. It can be used to turn off the screen with a gesture; the listing says this service does not collect or share data. That statement applies to the accessibility service, not to the app as a whole.

Google Play’s broader Data safety section separately reports that the app may collect personal information and app activity, and may share location, app information and performance data, and device IDs. It also says data is encrypted in transit and that users can request deletion. These disclosures describe what the developer reports; consult the current listing for the latest details and context.
Are Niagara’s download and usage figures current?
Niagara’s press kit lists 13 million-plus downloads, 500,000-plus daily active users, a 4.7-star Google Play rating and more than 10 million app launches daily. The press-kit page does not state the year for those figures, so they should not be read as verified current totals or attributed to a specific date. Google Play’s listing was updated September 30, 2026, but that update date does not date the press-kit metrics.
Who is Niagara Launcher a fit for?
Niagara’s structure is aimed at people who want a list-led home screen and prefer to keep additional tools tucked into optional layers. The free tier covers the core list and navigation. Pro is the relevant tier if themes, more extensive text and icon customization, widgets, pop-ups or Usage Breaker are part of the reason for choosing it.

The feature set explains how Niagara can offer more than a bare app list without displaying every capability on the main screen. Whether the text-first layout feels clearer than a grid is personal; the product description establishes the design and features, not a universal outcome or a claim based on long-term hands-on testing.
