For the 2025–26 season, most NBA injury reports are due by 5 p.m. local time on the day before a game, but teams also make game-day submissions and update reports continually. A listing is a team’s current report—not a guarantee that a player will or will not play—so check the official NBA injury report again close to tip-off.
What an NBA injury report tells you
Under the NBA’s 2025–26 policy, teams report injuries, illnesses, other medical conditions, or rest when these may affect a player’s participation. Each entry includes a participation status and a specific reason. It is a snapshot of what the team has reported at that point; it does not settle whether the player will ultimately take part.

The NBA says reports are updated “on a continual basis throughout the day.” A player’s status can therefore change after an earlier listing, including on game day.
When do NBA injury reports come out?
The deadline depends on the game and the season policy. The NBA’s published 2025–26 rules use local time; they do not set one national clock time for every game.

| Situation | Reporting time in the 2025–26 policy |
|---|---|
| Most games | By 5 p.m. local time on the day before the game. |
| Second game of a back-to-back | By 1 p.m. local time on game day. |
| Additional submission for other game days | Between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. local time. |
| Additional submission for games tipping at 5 p.m. or earlier | Between 8 a.m. and 10 a.m. local time. |
These are policy deadlines and submission windows, not a promise that a report will first appear at a particular minute or remain unchanged afterward.
How late can a questionable player be ruled out?
The reporting schedule does not make an earlier status final. Since reports are updated continually, a team may submit a later update that changes a player’s reported availability. The policy information above establishes no single universal time by which every questionable player receives a final status. Check the live listing near tip-off rather than relying on an earlier report.
