YouTube says creators receive 70% of Super Chat and Super Sticker revenue confirmed by Google. That share is calculated after local sales tax and, for purchases on iOS, App Store fees are deducted. YouTube says it currently covers transaction costs such as credit-card fees. The remaining 30% is therefore not necessarily 30% of the viewer’s full payment.
How the 70% share is calculated
YouTube Help states that creators receive 70% of Supers revenue confirmed by Google. Its partner earnings overview describes the share as 70% of net revenue from Super Chat and related products. In practical terms, the percentage applies to the revenue base recognized by Google—not automatically to the full amount a viewer sees or pays.

YouTube Help’s Super Chat and Super Stickers revenue-share guidance explains the calculation. Its partner earnings overview also says transaction taxes such as sales tax, VAT, or GST are not revenue to Google and are excluded from the partner revenue-share calculation.
Does YouTube take 30% of a Super Chat?
“YouTube keeps 30%” is a shorthand for the portion remaining after the 70% creator share is applied to confirmed revenue. It can give the wrong impression if interpreted as 30% of the viewer’s entire payment, because local sales tax and, on iOS, App Store fees are removed before the 70% calculation. YouTube says it covers transaction costs such as credit-card fees rather than subtracting those costs from the creator share.

What an Indian creator can expect
YouTube’s public guidance does not set out a separate revenue-share percentage for Indian creators or provide a worked rupee example. The published 70% rule is the general rule, but it does not establish the exact payout from a particular Indian viewer’s payment. The purchase route, applicable tax treatment, and revenue Google confirms all matter; the public pages do not give enough India-specific transaction detail to calculate a guaranteed amount.
For Android, YouTube says some new Super Chat and Super Sticker purchases in the Android app may be billed through Google Play, without changing the price or cost—only the billing source. The reviewed YouTube guidance does not specify a numerical India-specific deduction for Android purchases. It names App Store fees for iOS, so do not assume that the iOS deduction applies identically to Android.

Your own taxes are separate
YouTube’s platform revenue share is not the same as your personal tax liability. Creators may separately owe taxes where they live. YouTube requires eligible YouTube Partner Program creators to provide tax information, but its general guidance does not determine an individual Indian creator’s income-tax or GST treatment. For that, consult the relevant tax authority or a qualified tax professional rather than treating the platform’s 70% share as take-home income.

Where to check your actual Super Chat revenue
- Open YouTube Studio and review the agreement that applies to your channel, including the Commerce Product Module or any earlier Commerce Product Addendum.
- Open YouTube Analytics and inspect the Super Chat revenue report for the amount YouTube reports for your channel.
- Use that report and your own records when assessing earnings; do not estimate a guaranteed payout by multiplying a viewer’s displayed payment by 70%.
Feature access is a separate question from the revenue share. YouTube’s fan-funding conditions include being at least 18, living in a country or region where Super Chat and Super Stickers are available, and accepting the relevant commerce terms.
