At that draw, running for 24 hours a day over a 365-day year uses about 140–193 kWh. At an illustrative electricity rate of $0.15 per kWh, that works out to about $21–$29 a year. Your cost depends on your actual wall draw and electricity rate.
“YouTube stream” can also mean broadcasting a continuous live stream to YouTube. The published figures below concern video playback, not a live-stream encoding and broadcasting workload, so they cannot establish that workload’s power use or cost.

Estimated electricity use and cost
Techtest measured approximately 16–22 W at the wall for an Ace Magician AMR5 with a Ryzen 5 5600U during ordinary use, including YouTube videos. Treat this as a result for that reviewed system and test context, not a guaranteed figure for every 5600U mini PC, browser, video resolution, or playback setup. Techtest’s AMR5 review is the closest cited measurement for the playback question.

How the calculation works
For continuous operation across a 365-day year, there are 8,760 hours. Convert watts to kilowatts by dividing by 1,000, then multiply by the hours:
Annual kWh = average watts × 8,760 ÷ 1,000
Annual electricity cost = annual kWh × your electricity price per kWh

For a quick annual estimate, multiply the measured average watts by 8.76 to get kWh. For example, 16 W × 8.76 = 140.16 kWh. Multiply that result by your own bill rate. A monthly equivalent for the illustrative rate and measured range is approximately $1.75–$2.41; an actual monthly bill varies with your local rate and operating hours.
Why reviews report different wattage
Wall-power readings depend on the specific machine, operating mode, test method, and workload. The available AMR5 reviews are useful context, but their measurements should not be averaged into a universal 5600U figure.

| Source and reported condition | Reported power | How to interpret it |
|---|---|---|
| Techtest, AMR5 | 10–11 W idle; approximately 16–22 W ordinary use including YouTube videos in Performance mode; approximately 48 W at full load | The ordinary-use/YouTube range is the most directly relevant cited playback estimate here. The review does not establish the draw of every playback setup. |
| Notebookcheck, AMR5 | 8.4 / 8.7 / 9.3 W idle; 46.4 / 52 W load | The review identifies a Metrahit Energy meter for its wall-side measurement. It also reports that the system played its 4K YouTube test video without problems, with integrated GPU load around 20%. That playback test does not establish wall draw for all 4K playback. |
| VideoCardz, AMR5 | Device idle: 10.9 / 11.6 / 11.7 W in Silent / Auto / Performance modes; device load: 23.6 / 28.8 / 37 W in those modes | The report also gives lower CPU-package figures. CPU package power is not the same as the whole system’s wall draw used to estimate an electricity bill. |
Idle draw is not a substitute for playback draw: a computer decoding and displaying video is doing work. Likewise, a CPU package figure does not include the entire system and power adapter. For an electricity estimate, use whole-system watts measured at the wall under the workload you intend to run.
Measure your own setup for a better estimate
- Connect a plug-in electricity monitor. Measure the mini PC and its power adapter together at the wall. Add a display, speakers, or other equipment only if you want those devices included and they will also be on continuously.
- Run the actual playback setup. Use the browser, video resolution, display arrangement, and power mode you expect to keep. Let the system settle and record average watts over a representative period rather than relying on a brief peak.
- Convert the measurement. Multiply average watts by 8.76 for estimated kWh over a 365-day, 24/7 year, then multiply by your bill’s per-kWh rate. If the monitor reports kWh over a timed interval, scale that energy to your expected operating hours.
Published AMR5 figures differ across reviews and modes, which is why an individual wall measurement is more useful than assuming another system’s idle reading applies to yours. Notebookcheck’s review describes wall-side measurement with a Metrahit Energy meter; this supports measuring at the wall, not a recommendation of that particular device.

If you mean broadcasting a live stream, not watching YouTube
The 16–22 W figure is for ordinary use including YouTube video playback. The cited sources do not establish the wall power of a 5600U mini PC continuously encoding and sending a live stream to YouTube. That workload may differ from playback, so using the playback figure as a broadcast cost would be an unsupported estimate. Measure the complete system while it is actually encoding and broadcasting, then apply the same kWh and tariff formulas above.

Common estimation mistakes
- Using idle watts for video playback: idle and active video use are different conditions. Measure while the video is playing.
- Confusing CPU power with wall power: a CPU-package reading is not the full system draw. Use a wall-side measurement for electricity-cost estimates.
- Assuming every 5600U mini PC draws the same amount: the cited figures describe particular AMR5 systems and test conditions, not every brand or configuration.
- Forgetting peripherals: include a display or powered speakers in the measurement only when they are part of the setup you want to cost.
- Applying an example tariff as if it were yours: replace $0.15/kWh with your current all-in electricity rate.
- Treating playback measurements as live-broadcast measurements: for a broadcast workload, measure while encoding and sending the stream.
