Pokémon Trading Card Game Pocket is free to start. The game was designed to be enjoyable without purchases, and its announced baseline provides two free booster packs each day. Optional spending buys Poké Gold, which primarily shortens waiting timers, or a $9.99-per-month Premium Pass that adds a predictable extra daily pack and premium rewards. There is no posted cash price for a particular digital card: cards come from random packs and several reward systems, so the effective cost of a desired card depends on the route, the number of openings and luck.
The prices below are official U.S. listings checked October 18, 2026. Taxes, local currency, platform billing and limited-time promotions can change what you see at checkout.

Pokémon TCG Pocket costs at a glance
There are three separate questions behind “How much does Pocket cost?” Starting the app costs nothing; accelerating openings costs Poké Gold; and adding a regular stream of rewards costs the Premium Pass. Those purchases affect access and timing, not the identity of the card that appears.

#1 Best Overall
- 3 Pokemon booster packs from various sets
Is Pokémon TCG Pocket free to play?
Yes. Pokémon Trading Card Game Pocket is a free-to-start app with optional in-app purchases. The Pokémon Trading Card Game Pocket Team wrote in its September 19, 2024 community letter that the app would be “designed to be fully enjoyable without any in-app purchases.” The same launch materials describe a baseline of two free booster packs per day.
Free access does not mean every card is immediately available. You still have to wait for pack timers, complete missions, use free rewards and accept the random results of openings. A player who never spends can build a collection over time, while a paying player can create more openings or obtain some rewards sooner. Neither route changes the random identity of a card inside a pack.
What “free” includes
- Access to the app and its core card-collecting systems without an entry fee.
- The announced daily allowance of two free booster packs.
- Cards and resources earned through normal play, missions and other in-game systems.
What free access does not promise
- A specific card on a specific day.
- Immediate access to every expansion or every rarity.
- A fixed cash equivalent for a card obtained from a free opening.
How much is Poké Gold?
Poké Gold is the paid currency used for selected acceleration and other actions. The official U.S. web-store tiers currently list the prices in the table above. The apparent “discount” on larger bundles is simply a different amount of Gold for a higher one-time payment; buying more currency does not make a particular card more likely to appear.
What each bundle buys
Gold is not a single-card marketplace. Its main documented purpose is shortening the wait before a booster can be opened. It can also be used for selected Wonder Pick actions and event actions when the game presents Gold as an option. The exact Gold requirement is shown at the point of purchase and can vary by action.
Pokémon Support states that players can use up to 720 Poké Gold per day to shorten pack-opening waiting time. That is a daily usage limit for this timer-shortening function, not a promise that 720 Gold buys a fixed number of packs or a cap on how much Gold you may hold. Once the limit is reached, further Gold cannot shorten that waiting time until the relevant daily allowance resets.
Paid and non-paid Gold can appear together
Some listings, especially promotional tiers, may include non-paid Gold or digital accessories alongside the paid currency. Read the item description before confirming a purchase so you know which portion is a paid balance, which portion is promotional and whether the offer has an expiry or regional condition.
What does the Premium Pass cost and include?
The Premium Pass is listed at $9.99 per month in the United States. It adds one booster pack opening every 24 hours, plus Premium Missions and rewards such as promo cards, hourglasses, tickets and accessories. The launch announcement described the result as three daily booster packs in total: the two-pack baseline plus the one additional Premium opening.

The pack’s contents remain governed by the game’s normal acquisition and randomization systems. Premium rewards can include a promo card, but that does not mean the pass guarantees a particular card from a booster expansion.
The first-time offer
The September 19, 2024 launch announcement promised two weeks free for first-time subscribers. That was a launch offer, not a permanent entitlement. Check the offer displayed in your account before subscribing: eligibility, renewal timing, taxes, cancellation terms and the length of any trial can change.

What the pass is really buying
The pass exchanges a recurring fee for a regular additional opening and a defined set of mission rewards. Its value is easiest to judge if you expect to open the app consistently enough to claim the daily pack and complete the missions. If you play only occasionally, some of the included opportunities may go unused even though the subscription period continues.
Do individual digital cards have a price?
No universal cash price is posted for an individual Pokémon TCG Pocket card. Pocket does not sell a fixed-price digital single for every card. A card can arrive through a booster opening, Wonder Pick, a mission reward or pack points tied to an expansion. Because several routes and random outcomes are involved, “the cost of a card” means an effective acquisition cost, not a price printed next to that card.
Booster openings
A free or paid opening gives you a chance at cards from the relevant pack. Paying to shorten the wait increases the number or speed of opportunities; it does not select the card inside. Two players can spend the same amount and receive different results, and one player can obtain a sought-after card through a free opening.
Wonder Pick
Wonder Pick is another acquisition route. Some Wonder Pick choices can require Poké Gold, while others use different in-game resources. The cost is shown for the specific choice, and the result is still determined by that choice’s rules rather than a direct single-card purchase.
Missions and other rewards
Missions can award cards, promo cards or resources without a separate cash payment. Premium Missions add another set of rewards for subscribers. These rewards have an opportunity cost in time and subscription fees, but there is no universal dollar value that applies to every mission outcome.
Pack points
Pack points are tied to an expansion and form a more targeted route than a random opening. The relevant expansion and the number of points required are shown in-game. Since the points are earned through openings and the required totals differ by card or expansion, the effective cash cost still depends on how many openings you needed to generate them.

How to work out your own effective card cost
You can estimate what a card cost you without pretending that Pocket has a fixed single-card price. Record the resources used for the route that actually produced the card, then keep random outcomes separate from guaranteed rewards.
- Identify the route. Note whether the card came from a free pack, a pack opened after spending Gold, Wonder Pick, a mission or pack points.
- Record direct payments. Include only the U.S. purchase price you actually paid for the Gold or Premium Pass, not the face value of unused currency.
- Separate shared resources. If one Gold bundle paid for several actions, allocate the cost across those actions only as an accounting estimate; Pocket does not publish an official per-card allocation.
- Mark chance-based results. A card pulled from a pack is a random outcome. Do not describe the amount spent on that pack as a guaranteed price for the card.
- Count guaranteed routes separately. If pack points or a mission directly awarded the card, label that as a targeted or guaranteed route under the game’s stated rules, while still noting the resources needed to reach it.
This method gives you a personal spending record, not a universal market value. Another player’s result can be higher or lower because the game does not sell every card as a fixed-price digital single.
Premium Pass versus Poké Gold
These purchases solve different problems. The Premium Pass is a recurring package with one extra daily opening and mission rewards. Poké Gold is flexible currency that you spend when you choose, mainly to reduce waiting or pay for selected actions.

| Best fit | Players willing to log in regularly and claim a daily opening | Players who want flexible, occasional acceleration or a specific eligible action |
Choose based on whether you value a guaranteed schedule of opportunities or the freedom to spend currency only when a timer or event matters. Neither option guarantees a desired expansion card.
How to check the price before paying
Prices and offers can differ by country, platform and account. Use the purchase screen that appears for your account rather than relying on a third-party list.
- Confirm your region. Make sure the displayed currency is U.S. dollars if you are comparing it with the prices in this guide.
- Read the item name and quantity. Check whether the listing is paid Gold, a mixed promotional bundle, a Premium Pass or an accessory package.
- Inspect the renewal language. For the Premium Pass, verify whether the displayed amount is monthly, when billing begins and how a trial converts, if a trial is shown.
- Check the contents. Look for the number of Gold units, the extra rewards and any expiration or availability statement.
- Review the final checkout total. Taxes or platform charges can change the amount from the advertised base price.
- Keep the receipt. Save the platform receipt and the in-game transaction record so you can verify what was delivered or request support if a purchase does not appear.
U.S. pricing, taxes and changing promotions
All dollar figures in this guide are U.S. listed prices retrieved October 18, 2026. The same bundle can display a different currency or amount elsewhere. Local taxes, exchange rates, mobile-platform billing rules and account-specific offers can alter the final charge.
Limited bundles are particularly volatile. A store may add digital accessories or a non-paid Gold bonus for a short period, then remove or replace the offer. Do not treat a promotional bundle as the permanent price of Gold, and do not compare its bonus with the regular currency tiers unless you separate the paid and promotional portions.
Spending safely and avoiding common mistakes
- Do not budget around a specific pull. A larger Gold bundle creates more opportunities but cannot promise a particular card.
- Remember the 720-Gold timer limit. Buying more Gold does not let you bypass that documented daily limit for shortening pack waits.
- Use the live listing for subscription terms. The two-week first-time trial was announced at launch; it may not be available or may have different conditions now.
- Distinguish a promo card from a booster result. A Premium reward can be defined in the pass contents, while booster cards remain random.
- Watch unused currency. A bundle can leave you with Gold you did not intend to spend. Track the balance and the action cost before confirming.
- Set a personal ceiling. Decide how much you are comfortable spending over a month, then stop when that limit is reached regardless of the next pack’s appeal.
What should a free player, occasional spender or collector choose?
If you want to spend nothing
Use the free daily openings, missions and other in-game rewards. Progress will be paced by timers and random outcomes, but the app’s free-to-start design does not require a purchase to participate.

Consider whether the Premium Pass’s daily opening and mission rewards will be claimed often enough to justify a monthly fee. It provides a scheduled opportunity rather than a chosen card.
If you play in bursts
Poké Gold is more flexible because you can buy a small tier and use it for an eligible timer, Wonder Pick or event action when needed. The 720-Gold daily limit still applies to timer shortening.
If you are chasing one card
Start by checking whether that card can be obtained through pack points, a mission or a particular Wonder Pick. If your only route is a random pack, set a spending limit before opening because neither Gold nor the Premium Pass turns a chance-based pull into a guarantee.
Bottom line: what does Pocket really cost?
Pokémon TCG Pocket can cost $0 to start and remain free for a player who is willing to wait for daily openings. In the current U.S. listings, Poké Gold ranges from $0.99 for five units to $199.99 for 1,000, while the Premium Pass is $9.99 per month. Gold mainly buys speed and selected actions; the Premium Pass buys an extra daily opening and premium missions. A specific digital card has no universal cash price, so treat every paid opening as an opportunity rather than a guaranteed purchase.
