LG’s published UK policy promises software and security updates at least once a year for a minimum of two years after a TV’s product launch. Separately, eligible models in LG’s webOS Re:New program receive four major webOS upgrades over five years. That five-year upgrade commitment does not apply to every LG Smart TV, and the security policy’s possible extension to five years is conditional on a critical vulnerability.
What “software updates” means for an LG TV
There are two different support terms to distinguish: routine software and security updates, and major webOS version upgrades. They have different durations and eligibility rules.

These are LG-published policy and program figures, not an independent measurement that every eligible TV receives every update on the same schedule.
How the Re:New five-year period works
LG describes Re:New as four webOS upgrades over five years, counting the TV’s preinstalled webOS version as the first of five total versions. LG Italy’s 2025 announcement describes the period as starting when a TV is introduced to market. This means a TV bought later as remaining stock does not necessarily start a fresh five-year period on the purchase date. LG Italy announcement

Which LG TVs are eligible?
Eligibility depends on the exact model and market; LG’s regional materials do not describe one universal list.
- LG’s 2025 India brochure lists Re:New for 2025 OLED, QNED, NanoCell, and UHD TVs, as well as selected older models, including 2022 OLED and 2023 UHD-and-above sets. It cautions that details and schedules vary by model and region. LG India TV brochure
- LG’s January 2024 North American announcement described its initial older-TV cohort as 2022 OLED models, OLED Flex, OLED Objet Collection Posé, and 2022 QNED Mini LED 8K QNED99/95 models. It said the program would expand to more TVs worldwide. LG announcement
- In October 2025, LG Italy reported webOS 25 availability for specified 2024 models and a progressive rollout to Re:New products introduced from 2023 onward and selected 2022 C and G OLED series. That is a regional rollout report, not a worldwide eligibility list. LG Italy announcement
Do not infer eligibility from screen size, OLED branding alone, or the date you bought the TV.

How to check support for your particular TV
- Find the TV’s full model number in its settings or on the product label.
- Use the LG support page for the country where the TV is being used, and look up that exact model.
- Check the model’s firmware and software information, and whether LG lists it as a Re:New model or shows an available webOS upgrade.
- Confirm the current rollout status for your region. LG says upgrade availability and schedules vary by model and region, so a program announcement alone does not establish that an update has reached a specific set.
Without the full model number and country, a specific support end date cannot be stated. LG’s published UK policy is dated April 19, 2022, and its Re:New eligibility and rollout information is regional.

Use “at least two years” for LG’s published UK baseline for software and security updates, and “four upgrades over five years” only when discussing an eligible Re:New model. Treat the policy’s “up to five years” security language as conditional on a critical vulnerability, not as a routine patch schedule or a guarantee for all TVs.
