That runtime is a hands-on estimate rather than a guaranteed average, so your pace will change with difficulty, deaths and time spent searching for secrets.
Activision says campaign completion rewards become available in Multiplayer and DMZ when the full game launches. The documented carryover is the reward inventory—operators, cosmetics and XP tokens—not your campaign save, story choices or mission progress.

| Question | Documented answer |
|---|---|

How long the campaign takes
The 6–8-hour estimate
Windows Central’s hands-on preview places a complete run of the 16 missions at roughly six to eight hours. That is the clearest available playtime figure, but it is not a publisher-published average or a result from a large completion-time survey. Treat it as a practical range for a player moving through the story at a normal pace.
The lower end describes a focused run: follow objectives, avoid extended searches and continue after ordinary failures. Reaching the upper end is more likely when you investigate side rooms, look for secrets, replay encounters or spend longer learning difficult sections.

- TACTICAL DMZ OPERATIONS — Deploy behind enemy lines as an off‑the‑books asset, making high‑risk decisions on objectives and extraction in a dynamic mode where every run counts.
Why your time may be shorter or longer
- Skill and familiarity: Experienced players may clear combat spaces quickly, while newcomers can spend longer learning enemy patterns and objectives.
- Difficulty: Higher settings generally increase the time spent on retries, although the available material does not provide separate runtimes for each setting.
- Exploration: The preview specifically notes that searching for secrets affects the total. A direct objective-to-objective run should not be compared with a thorough sweep of every area.
- Retries and interruptions: Checkpoint reloads, pauses and time spent experimenting with encounters all add to elapsed play time without changing the mission count.
What the estimate does—and does not—promise
The estimate tells you the campaign is designed as a relatively compact single-player experience. It does not promise that every player will finish in exactly eight hours, nor does it establish a separate completion time for collecting every secret. No independent completion-time dataset or official average playtime is published in the available material, so more precise claims would be speculation.
What the 16-mission structure means
A defined story arc
Activision describes the narrative as “sixteen action-packed missions.” That gives the campaign a fixed, countable story structure rather than an open-ended progression model. Mission count is not the same as playtime: one mission can be a short transition while another may contain several combat spaces, scripted sequences or opportunities to search.
Optional searching affects completion time
The six-to-eight-hour figure includes the possibility of looking for secrets, but the published description does not give a total number of secrets, their locations or a separate completionist runtime. If you want the fastest first clear, stay on the marked objective. If you enjoy exploration, allow extra time and expect your result to move beyond the lower end of the estimate.

Replay value versus campaign progression
Replaying a mission can improve your personal completion time or help you find something you missed, but the available information does not say that replaying missions creates a separate Multiplayer progression track. The documented Multiplayer benefit is tied to earning the listed completion rewards.
Campaign rewards that become usable outside the story
Activision’s official wording is specific: campaign completion rewards earned while progressing through the missions will be available for use in Multiplayer and DMZ upon the full game launch. The following is the complete reward sequence published for the campaign, in the order given by Activision.
| Reward order | Reward | Type |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Cho Base Operator | Operator |
| 2 | “No More Rules” Calling Card | Cosmetic |
| 3 | Double XP Token | XP boost |
| 4 | Dallas Base Operator | Operator |
| 5 | “Ready Line” Loading Screen | Cosmetic |
| 6 | Luca Base Operator | Operator |
| 7 | “Gone Dark” Emblem | Cosmetic |
| 8 | Oh-Ji Base Operator | Operator |
| 9 | Double XP Token | XP boost |
| 10 | Kal Base Operator | Operator |
| 11 | Double Weapon XP Token | Weapon XP boost |
| 12 | Dunn Base Operator | Operator |
| 13 | Double Weapon XP Token | Weapon XP boost |
| 14 | West Base Operator | Operator |
| 15 | Park Base Operator | Operator |
The list contains 15 reward entries even though the story has 16 missions. Activision publishes the rewards as an earned sequence, not as a one-to-one map assigning one reward to every mission. The available information therefore does not establish which individual mission grants each item or whether one mission can grant more than one item.

What “carries over” actually means
Account rewards are the documented transfer
The items above are account-level rewards intended for use after you leave the campaign. Operators can be selected where Multiplayer or DMZ supports them; calling cards, loading screens and emblems are cosmetic customization items; and Double XP or Double Weapon XP Tokens are boosts intended for their respective progression systems.
The important timing qualification is “upon the full game launch.” The statement does not promise that these rewards will be usable in every preview, test, beta or other pre-launch environment. Their documented availability begins with the full release.
Campaign progress is not documented as Multiplayer progress
Nothing in the published campaign or Multiplayer descriptions says that finishing a mission grants Multiplayer levels, unlocks a Multiplayer loadout, advances a Multiplayer battle pass or copies a campaign checkpoint into another mode. The safe reading is that the reward inventory transfers, while each mode retains its own progression and loadout systems.

How the rewards fit into the Multiplayer launch
Operators and cosmetics have immediate utility
The operator rewards let you use campaign-associated characters outside the story, while the calling card, loading screen and emblem provide profile and presentation customization. These are persistent reward categories rather than a claim that your campaign character or story identity replaces Multiplayer’s own systems.
XP tokens are progression boosts, not saved progress
Double XP and Double Weapon XP Tokens can help you earn Multiplayer or weapon experience faster when activated in the relevant progression system. They do not represent levels already earned. The published list confirms the token types and quantities—two of each category—but does not specify activation rules, duration or menu placement.

Activision says Multiplayer launches with 12 all-new Core 6v6 maps. Its Multiplayer material also references larger-scale modes and additional map types that are planned or announced. The campaign rewards are therefore designed to be usable alongside a substantial launch Multiplayer offering, but the reward list does not grant maps or modes.

Practical ways to approach the campaign
If you want to reach Multiplayer quickly
- Play the story in objective order and avoid extended searches on your first run.
- Keep track of the listed reward milestones as they appear; the official list is ordered, but it does not assign each item to a named mission.
- Finish the campaign before expecting the rewards to be available in the full Multiplayer and DMZ environment.
If you want the fullest single-player run
- Search optional rooms and areas instead of treating the six-hour figure as a target.
- Replay sections where you suspect you missed a secret.
- Separate your exploration time from the story estimate: there is no official completionist total, so your final runtime will be personal.
When the full game launches
- Open Multiplayer or DMZ and check the operator and cosmetic customization areas for the campaign rewards.
- Check the XP-token inventory for the two Double XP and two Double Weapon XP entries listed by Activision.
- If an item is missing, confirm that you completed the relevant campaign progression and are playing the full launch version; the public description does not provide a more detailed troubleshooting path or cross-platform transfer policy.
Common misconceptions about campaign carryover
“Finishing the campaign levels up my Multiplayer account.”
That is not what Activision promises. The documented benefit is access to completion rewards. Multiplayer retains its own progression and loadout systems.
“Every mission gives one reward.”
The campaign has 16 missions, while the published reward sequence has 15 entries. Because Activision does not map rewards to mission numbers, a one-reward-per-mission assumption is not supported.
“My story choices will change Multiplayer.”
No published statement describes story-choice transfer. The confirmed carryover consists of the listed operators, cosmetics and XP tokens.
“The rewards should appear in any early version.”
The official wording ties availability to the full game launch. It does not establish availability in previews, tests or other pre-release builds.
Bottom line for buyers and players
Plan for a compact campaign: 16 missions and about 6–8 hours for a typical first completion, with exploration, difficulty and retries moving that figure up or down. The reason to complete it before settling into Multiplayer is the reward package: seven base Operators, three cosmetic items and four XP tokens in the published sequence. Those rewards are promised for Multiplayer and DMZ at full launch. Do not expect the campaign save, mission flags or story decisions to become a second Multiplayer progression track; the available documentation supports reward carryover only.
