Apple currently advertises a three-month offer for new subscribers who activate an eligible new Apple device in the United States, but the offer available to you depends on your account and country. Check the terms shown in the Apple Music app before you accept.
How long is Apple Music free?
Apple’s current US promotion offers eligible new subscribers three months free with a new eligible iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple TV, Apple Watch, or audio device. This is a device-linked promotion, not a guarantee that every new subscriber receives a three-month trial. Offers can vary by storefront and account. Check Apple’s US Apple Music offer, then confirm the duration and renewal terms presented to your account.

How to check which trial you can get
- Set up or pair your eligible new device.
- Open the Apple Music app and look for the offer presented to your account.
- Before accepting, verify the trial duration, the renewal price and date, and any eligibility conditions displayed.
For Apple’s US eligible-device promotion, the offer must be redeemed within 90 days of activating the device. It should appear in the Apple Music app after setup or pairing. See Apple’s promotion terms. Do not assume the same device offer or deadline applies in another country.
Why the offer may be different
Apple’s developer guidance says a customer can receive one introductory offer per subscription group. That general rule does not establish whether a particular Apple Account qualifies; the offer shown to you is the practical check. Apple’s introductory-offer guidance describes eligibility for app subscriptions, while Apple’s Music promotion page describes its specific US device offer.

How to avoid being charged after the trial
Apple’s Media Services terms say to cancel at least 24 hours before a free trial ends if you do not want the subscription to begin charging your payment method. Check the end date in your subscription details and leave enough time to cancel. Apple’s terms also say that if you cancel a subscription trial before it ends, you cannot reactivate that same free trial. Read Apple’s Media Services terms.
What happens when a trial ends?
When the subscription ends, subscription-dependent content and features become unavailable. If you are considering a Family membership, its capacity is separate from trial duration: Apple says a Family membership can stream on up to six devices. Apple’s terms explain subscription access.
