How Do You Show or Hide Firefox’s Blocked Tracker Count?

Change Firefox’s “Show trackers blocked in address bar” setting to show or hide the count without disabling Enhanced Tracking Protection.

In Firefox for desktop, go to Menu > Settings > Privacy and security and find Enhanced Tracking Protection. Select Show trackers blocked in address bar to display the count beside the shield, or clear it to hide the count. Hiding it does not stop Firefox from blocking trackers.

Change the tracker-count setting

  1. Open the Firefox menu and choose Settings. Some installations may call this Preferences.

  2. Select Privacy and security.

  3. Under Enhanced Tracking Protection, select or clear Show trackers blocked in address bar. Select it to show the count; clear it to hide the count.

The count appears beside the shield when Firefox finds and blocks trackers on the page. The setting changes whether the count is displayed, not whether Enhanced Tracking Protection blocks trackers. (Mozilla Support: Enhanced Tracking Protection in Firefox for desktop)

View the count when it is hidden

Select the shield icon in the address bar to open Firefox’s Privacy Panel. The blocked-tracker count remains available there even when it is hidden beside the shield.

What happens to the shield animation?

Clearing Show trackers blocked in address bar also turns off the shield animation. Mozilla describes that animation as experimental and subject to a progressive rollout; it may not be available in every installation. The help page says it appears the first time a site blocks trackers during a browsing session, and notes that remote improvements must be enabled. These rollout details apply to the animation, not the basic choice to show or hide the count.
