You can remove the iPhone passcode prompt by turning off the passcode, or remove a Lock Screen wallpaper while keeping the passcode. Those are separate actions. If your concern is what someone can see while the phone is locked, you can instead limit Lock Screen access to selected features.
Choose what you mean by “remove the Lock Screen”

Apple describes the Lock Screen as the screen shown when iPhone is turned on or woken; it can show wallpaper, notifications, widgets and controls. For Apple’s guidance on passcodes, see Use a passcode with your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch.
Turn off the iPhone passcode
- Open Settings.
- Tap Face ID & Passcode on iPhone X and later. On older iPhone models with Touch ID, tap Touch ID & Passcode. On a device without Touch ID, tap Passcode.
- Enter the current passcode if prompted.
- Tap Turn Passcode Off, then confirm as directed.
Apple says to set a passcode to help protect your data. Turning it off removes an important security barrier; Face ID or Touch ID does not replace the passcode in every situation. Apple lists cases when a passcode is required, including after the iPhone is turned on or restarted and for certain security-sensitive actions. Read Apple’s passcode guidance before changing this setting.
Delete a Lock Screen wallpaper without removing the passcode
- Wake the iPhone, then touch and hold the Lock Screen to open the wallpaper gallery.
- Swipe to the wallpaper you want to remove.
- Swipe up on that wallpaper, tap the trash icon, and tap Delete This Wallpaper.
This removes the selected wallpaper, not the passcode. Apple’s instructions are in Create a custom iPhone Lock Screen.

Limit what is available or visible while the iPhone is locked
If you want to keep passcode protection but make the locked phone reveal less, open Settings, tap Face ID & Passcode or Touch ID & Passcode, and review Allow Access When Locked. Turn off access to the features you do not want available from the Lock Screen. Apple notes that restricting a feature can keep personal information, such as an upcoming calendar event, from being viewed by someone holding the phone; the tradeoff is losing quick access to that feature. If you cannot open Settings
Turning off the passcode requires access to Settings and, if requested, the current passcode. The steps above do not cover a forgotten passcode that prevents access to the iPhone; do not treat wallpaper deletion or Lock Screen access settings as a way to bypass it.
