Anthropic earns money from Claude through individual and business subscriptions, metered API use, and enterprise sales. Customers can also access Claude through cloud platforms and work with implementation partners. Those are distinct routes to buy or deploy Claude; Anthropic has not publicly disclosed how revenue is split among them.
How does Anthropic make money from Claude?
Anthropic’s model combines recurring software subscriptions with usage-based services and business contracts. Individuals can pay for Claude plans, organizations can buy seats, and developers can pay for API calls based on use. Larger customers can engage Anthropic’s sales team for enterprise arrangements.

Anthropic has not published an audited breakdown showing how much revenue each channel contributes. Its April 20, 2026 announcement reported more than $30 billion in run-rate revenue, a company-reported rate rather than audited annual revenue; it did not break the figure down by product or sales channel. Anthropic’s Amazon collaboration announcement also quoted CEO Dario Amodei saying the company needs to build infrastructure to keep pace with demand.
How are Claude subscriptions and business plans billed?
Anthropic’s Claude pricing page lists Free, Pro, and Max for individuals, plus Team and Enterprise options for organizations. Pro and Max are paid plans with differences in usage and features. Team is priced per seat, while the Enterprise page directs prospective customers to contact sales rather than publishing a universal price.

Plan prices, limits, and included features can change. The pricing page is the source to check for current terms; a monthly subscription price alone also does not provide a useful comparison with API or cloud-platform costs, which depend on usage and commercial arrangements.
How does Claude API revenue work?
The Claude API is a self-serve, pay-as-you-go service billed according to usage, rather than a fixed seat subscription. Developers can integrate Claude into applications and pay for the service as they use it. Anthropic also offers sales-supported arrangements, which can include custom limits, monthly invoicing, prompting support, and deployment assistance. Details depend on the engagement. See Anthropic’s API information.

Does Claude revenue come from AWS, Google Cloud, or Microsoft?
Claude is available through Amazon Bedrock, Google Cloud Vertex AI, and Microsoft Foundry. These are cloud distribution and deployment routes: a customer may access Claude within a cloud provider’s platform rather than only through Anthropic’s own interface or API. The announcements establish availability and infrastructure relationships, but do not disclose how revenue is divided between Anthropic and the cloud providers.

What do Anthropic’s business figures show?
Anthropic said in its October 23, 2025 Google Cloud announcement that it served more than 300,000 business customers. It also reported nearly sevenfold growth in large accounts over the prior year, defining a large account as a customer representing more than $100,000 in run-rate revenue. These company-reported figures indicate business adoption, but they do not establish how much revenue comes from subscriptions, API use, or cloud marketplaces.
How do partners support enterprise sales?
Anthropic’s Claude Partner Network supports organizations that help businesses adopt Claude. The company announced an initial $100 million commitment on March 12, 2026 for partner training, technical support, and joint market development. That is an investment in enterprise enablement, not evidence of commissions paid to publishers or consumer affiliates. Details appear in Anthropic’s Partner Network announcement.

Anthropic also announced an enterprise AI services company with Blackstone, Hellman & Friedman, and Goldman Sachs, aimed at helping mid-sized companies adopt AI. This is another services and implementation route around Claude and enterprise AI, not a separate consumer subscription plan. See the company’s announcement.

| Route | Typical buyer | Billing basis | Deployment and support |
|---|---|---|---|
| Claude individual plans | Individual users | Subscription; current terms and prices are on Anthropic’s pricing page | Use Claude through Anthropic’s product |
| Team and Enterprise | Organizations | Team is per seat; Enterprise pricing is not stated publicly on the pricing page and requires contacting sales | Organization plan or sales-assisted enterprise arrangement |
| Claude API | Developers and businesses integrating Claude into products | Self-serve usage-based billing; sales-supported terms may differ | API integration, with optional sales and deployment support |
| Cloud platforms | Organizations already using a supported cloud platform | Not stated in the cited announcements as a comparable universal price | Claude access through AWS Bedrock, Google Cloud Vertex AI, or Microsoft Foundry; commercial split not disclosed |
There is no reliable price comparison across these routes without specifying a plan, model, usage volume, deployment choice, and contract terms. The distinction that matters is the buying basis: seats for some plans, measured usage for the API, or procurement through a cloud platform or enterprise sales relationship.

Why compute partnerships are not a separate revenue stream
Anthropic’s relationships with Amazon, Google Cloud, and SpaceX involve infrastructure capacity and the ability to train and serve models at scale. They support Claude’s operation, but infrastructure agreements are inputs and strategic relationships—not proof that each partner generates a particular amount of Claude revenue for Anthropic. The public announcements do not provide enough contract detail to calculate those economics.
