For Amazon.com Outlet purchases, do not assume that a discount means an item is final sale—or that every item can be returned. Amazon’s general rule is that most items can be returned within 30 days of delivery, but the product listing, seller, category, condition, and any Final Sale notice determine what applies to a specific purchase. Check the listing before ordering and the item’s eligibility in Your Orders afterward.
Does Amazon Outlet have a separate return policy?
Amazon describes Outlet as a place for limited-time deals on excess inventory. That description does not establish one return rule for every Outlet item. The sources reviewed do not identify a separate, Outlet-wide consumer return policy; the item’s own listing and order details are the useful checks. See Amazon’s description of Outlet deals.

For US Amazon.com orders, Amazon says most items may be returned within 30 days of delivery if they are in original or unused condition. This is a general rule, not a guarantee for every Outlet purchase. Amazon’s Return Policy directs customers to check the product detail page before buying and Order History for item-specific eligibility.
How to check whether your Outlet item is returnable
Before you buy
- Open the product detail page and review the return eligibility information.
- Look for a Final Sale marking and read any item-specific terms.
- Do not infer return eligibility from the Outlet label, discount, or condition description alone.
After you buy
- Open Your Orders or Order History and select the purchase.
- Check the item’s return deadline and the options Amazon shows for that order.
- If a return is available, choose the item, select a reason, review any refund or replacement option, and choose one of the offered return methods.
- Follow the order’s label, shipping, or drop-off instructions. Amazon’s return instructions say not to combine items from separate orders in one return.
When an Outlet purchase may not be returnable
Amazon lists items marked Final Sale as nonreturnable and nonrefundable. Its US help page also lists categories that may be nonreturnable, including perishables, customized items, some digital products, Amazon Pharmacy products, pet medications, automobiles, and certain safety-sensitive or shipping-restricted products. The category rules have exceptions and are not a substitute for checking the specific listing and order.

If an excluded item arrives damaged, defective, or materially different from its description, Amazon advises contacting Customer Service. That does not make every Final Sale item returnable; it is a route to address a problem with the item. See Amazon’s Nonreturnable Items guidance.
What return window applies?
For most Amazon.com items, the stated period is 30 days from delivery, subject to the item’s eligibility and condition. Amazon lists exceptions, including shorter periods for some digital purchases and certain Apple or Boost Infinite items, and longer periods for selected Amazon Renewed items, baby products, mattresses, and registry gifts. The actual deadline shown for your order is the one to use; do not assume an exception applies to a particular Outlet purchase without checking it.

Who handles the return if a third-party seller ships it?
If a third-party seller fulfills and ships its own inventory, the item is returned to that seller rather than Amazon. Amazon says the seller may provide a US return address, a prepaid return label, or a full refund without requiring the item back. The available route depends on the order, so start in Amazon’s Online Returns Center and follow the instructions shown. Amazon’s third-party seller returns page explains these options.
If the seller does not resolve a qualifying delivery or condition problem, Amazon’s A-to-z Guarantee may be relevant, but eligibility conditions apply; it is not an automatic remedy for any return disagreement.

How condition and return method can affect the refund
Keep the item in original or unused condition and include its parts, accessories, manuals, tags, and manufacturer packaging where applicable. Amazon says damage, use, or missing components can reduce the refund. Many eligible returns are free, but Amazon lists circumstances in which a fee may apply, including the chosen return method, heavy or bulky items, an unusually high return rate, late drop-off, or item condition. Check the current policy and the options shown for your order rather than assuming a return will be free.
How long refunds can take
Amazon says receiving and processing a return may take up to 30 days; the payment provider may then need additional time to make the funds available. Refund amount and method can vary with the item’s condition, how long it was held, and how it was purchased. See Amazon’s refund guidance.

Does this apply outside Amazon.com in the United States?
The deadlines and policy details above refer to Amazon.com’s US-facing customer help. Outlet is described across multiple marketplaces, and return rules can differ by country. For a purchase made on another Amazon marketplace, check that marketplace’s current policy and the item’s own order details.
