Start with Amazon’s built-in history chart, check that you are comparing the same model and offer, then decide whether today’s price is worth paying for your needs.
Check the product’s Amazon price history
- Open the exact product listing. Look beside the displayed price for the price-history link and select it. You can also ask Alexa for Shopping, “What’s the price history?” or “Has this item been on sale in the past 30 days?”
- Choose a useful time window. Amazon describes 30-, 90- and 365-day views. Use the longest available view when judging a seasonal purchase; a shorter view can help show whether a recent promotion is below the item’s recent norm.
- Compare the price you will actually pay. Confirm the exact model and configuration, condition, seller or offer type, shipping, and any coupon or checkout conditions. Amazon Seller Central describes the product-page graph as showing the lowest Featured Offer price each day, so do not assume it includes every seller, coupon, or combination of checkout costs.
- Judge the current offer against the history. A price below a recent low is stronger evidence of a deal than a large percentage beside an unexamined reference price. Historical lows do not prove that a product is good quality or that it is the right purchase for you.
- If you can wait, set a target and an alert. Use a tracker’s price watch, then recheck the live listing before buying because price and availability can change.
Amazon said in May 2026 that price history was available to customers in the U.S., UK, Canada and India, while 365-day insights were rolling out to customers in the U.S., UK and India. Understand Amazon’s reference prices and deal badges
A crossed-out reference price and a price-history chart answer different questions. Amazon’s October 2026 explanation says its deal badges are validated against a strike-through List Price or Typical Price. Amazon describes List Price as suggested retail price and Typical Price as what customers recently paid on Amazon. Amazon says it works to have deals offer the lowest price in at least the previous 30 days and that major shopping events often include year lows. Treat that as Amazon’s stated approach, not a guarantee about a particular item. Amazon’s explanation of its deal approach
Choose a price tracker for alerts or extra charts

These descriptions do not establish which service has the most complete or accurate charts, or how every service handles each offer type. Check that the tool covers your Amazon marketplace and the price series you care about; confirm alert delivery and any costs or data limits directly with the provider.
Put Amazon’s deal statistics in context
Amazon reported in 2026 that more than 50 million customers had used its price-history feature since its 2024 launch, with the average customer checking three times a month. Those are company-reported usage figures, not independently audited statistics. Amazon’s price-history feature guide

Amazon also said that more than 80% of deals during its most recent Prime Day were at their lowest price of the year so far, and that hundreds of thousands of items were discounted by 40% or more.
