Short answer: GTA 6 community maps are evidence-weighted reconstructions, not official Rockstar maps. The strongest points can be remarkably close when several official trailer shots are triangulated, but accuracy drops for one-frame sightings, inferred roads, leak-derived markers and especially claims that a building is enterable. One 2026 survey solved 731 positions from Rockstar-published footage with a 2-metre median error and an 84.7-metre worst error. Those statistics apply only to that solved sample, not to every pin or to the complete size of Leonida.
What “accurate” means for a GTA 6 community map
A map marker can be accurate in one sense and wrong in another. It may place a landmark near its real in-game position while mislabeling the building, drawing an incorrect road connection, or implying an interior that players cannot access. Evaluate five separate claims:

- Landmark position: Is the visible object located where the marker says it is?
- Route geometry: Are roads, bridges, waterways and district boundaries drawn correctly?
- Region labels: Does an official place name correspond to the community-drawn outline?
- Building identity or function: Is the mapped structure really the hotel, venue or business shown?
- Interior access: Can the player enter it in the released game build?
These confidence levels should not be collapsed into one overall “map accuracy” percentage. No cited source provides a post-release audit showing what percentage of all fan-map content is exactly correct.

What Rockstar has actually confirmed
Rockstar and Take-Two’s official release notice dated May 6, 2025 confirmed Trailer 2, stated that its footage was captured on PlayStation 5, and announced a May 26, 2026 launch for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Official videos and screenshots establish the setting and show recognizable landmarks, but Rockstar has not published a complete navigable coordinate map of Leonida.

Leonida Explorer records six officially named top-level destinations:

An official name therefore confirms a label, not every line surrounding it. Leonida Explorer also warns that a building visible in a trailer does not prove its final in-game coordinate.
How the strongest community locations are calculated
Triangulation from multiple official shots
GTA 6 Record describes a survey-style approach. Researchers first solve camera positions from Rockstar-published frames. When the same object appears from more than one solved camera, lines of sight are extended into the scene; their intersection gives an estimated object position. More independent views generally constrain the estimate better than a single image.

This is why two pins that look equally polished can have very different reliability. A bridge visible in three shots with identifiable foreground geometry has a measurable basis. A road sketched to make two districts connect may be an editorial inference, even if it looks plausible.
Measured results, with their limits
GTA 6 Record reports 731 solved positions from official Rockstar trailers and screenshots. Within that solved sample, the median error was 2 metres and the worst reported error was 84.7 metres. Its companion camera survey plotted 113 official-footage camera positions and reports about two metres of survey error on a solved point.
A 2-metre median is best understood as “often within roughly the width of a car” for well-solved points. It does not mean every marker is two metres from its final location, and it does not measure the whole game world. The 84.7-metre maximum demonstrates how a point can carry a numerical estimate yet still be substantially displaced. GTA 6 Record summarizes the distinction this way: “A position with an error of two metres is a real measurement. A position with an error of eighty metres is a guess with a number on it.”

Source filtering matters
GTA 6 Record’s measured map keeps points whose source frames were published by Rockstar and excludes leak-derived frames. The Leonida Survey likewise uses only official Rockstar videos and media, indexing 17 reviewed scenes with timestamps, visible clues and confidence labels. It explicitly marks map coordinates as editorial estimates rather than official data. GTAMI describes itself as an independent community reconstruction based on YANIS, GTADB and contributors, with Rockstar media credited separately.

Coverage is also biased. Vice City and other heavily filmed areas receive more evidence than places Rockstar has barely shown. A sparse area on a fan map may reflect a lack of footage, not an empty game world.
Why building interiors are a much weaker claim
A location pin is not an entrance
Current sources do not establish a definitive list of enterable GTA 6 buildings. GTA 6 Record lists “which of these places the player can enter” among the unknowns. The Leonida Survey makes the same distinction for hotels, venues and other buildings shown in trailers: a named or visible structure does not confirm an accessible interior.

A marker can be correct as an exterior location while being wrong about interior access, the building’s final function or its internal layout. A real-world match is also not proof that Rockstar reproduced the inside of that real building.
What counts as confirmation
Treat interior predictions as hypotheses until the released game is checked directly. Reliable confirmation should identify the platform, game version and a reproducible in-game observation, such as reaching a door, triggering an entrance prompt, loading an interior, or navigating through the space during normal play. A trailer doorway, an NPC seen indoors, a map icon or a screenshot observation alone is insufficient; as Leonida Explorer puts it, “A screenshot observation does not prove that the pictured activity is playable.”

- Open the evidence record. Look for the original Rockstar trailer or screenshot, not merely a repost or a leak compilation.
- Classify the source. Mark it as multi-shot triangulation, a single official frame, an editorial inference, a real-world match or leak-derived information.
- Check for a confidence label or error figure. A stated uncertainty is more useful than a pin with unexplained precision.
- Separate the claim type. Evaluate the exterior coordinate, route, region name, building identity and interior access independently.
- Check camera geometry. Multiple views with fixed landmarks are stronger than one oblique shot with no scale reference.
- Account for coverage bias. Give less weight to detailed areas assembled from many assumptions and more weight to landmarks repeatedly shown by Rockstar.
- Keep leaks in a separate layer. Leonida Explorer hides leak-reported points by default and says they remain unverified until checked in game.
- Record the version used for final verification. When the game is available, note the platform and version number so another player can reproduce the check.
Common mistakes and how to avoid them
- Reading a complete-looking coastline as official: community cartographers must connect unseen sections somehow. Treat unfilmed shoreline and road geometry as provisional.
- Confusing a real-world resemblance with a coordinate: architectural matching can identify a likely inspiration without proving Rockstar’s exact placement.
- Assuming a named hotel or venue is enterable: names and exteriors establish identity at most; access requires an in-game test.
- Using leak points as equal to measured points: leaks have a separate provenance and should not inherit the confidence of official-footage triangulation.
- Quoting the 2-metre figure as whole-map accuracy: it is the median for 731 solved positions, not a guarantee for every marker or an estimate of Leonida’s total area.
- Treating an 84.7-metre outlier as a trivial error: that distance can move a marker across a road, lot or block, so inspect the uncertainty before planning routes from it.
What remains unresolved
Rockstar has not published a complete Leonida map, and the cited community projects cannot fill every unseen coordinate with measured data. No cited source supplies a post-release percentage for how much of any fan map is exactly correct. There is also no definitive, source-backed list of enterable buildings.

That uncertainty is normal for a pre-release reconstruction. Community maps are most useful as navigation hypotheses, evidence indexes and visual summaries of what Rockstar has shown. They become authoritative only where the released build itself confirms the claim.
Bottom line
Use GTA 6 community maps with an evidence label attached to every claim. Multi-shot, official-footage triangulation can reach metre-scale accuracy for specific landmarks; single-frame placements, inferred routes and leak-derived points may be far less precise. Official region names do not validate fan-drawn boundaries, and no visible building or map marker proves interior access. For a final answer, verify the point in the released game and report the platform and version used.
