A BaZi calculator can generate a chart for free and offer a separate, one-time PDF report, but two details determine whether the service is trustworthy and practical: it must disclose the calendrical rules used to calculate the Four Pillars, and its workload must fit the Cloudflare Workers limits that apply to its implementation. Cloudflare publishes generous daily request allowances on its Free plan, alongside a strict per-request CPU limit; those platform limits do not establish what this particular application costs or can handle.
What a BaZi calculator needs to disclose
A BaZi, or Four Pillars, chart is derived from birth information according to calendrical and timekeeping conventions. A useful calculator should make those conventions visible rather than claim unqualified accuracy. For a reproducible result, the user needs to know what inputs were used and how the tool treated time and calendar boundaries.

Calendar boundaries
One reviewed calculator changes the BaZi year at Li Chun, or Start of Spring, and derives month pillars from the twelve Jie solar terms. That is the calculator’s stated convention, not a universal rule shared by every school or tool. A project should identify its own year-boundary rule, how it determines solar-term instants, and the time standard used for them. TOEA’s Four Pillars calculator describes its own supported conventions.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:

Birthplace and birth time can matter because a local clock reading must be interpreted against the applicable time zone and, for historical dates, the civil-time rules in effect then. Daylight-saving changes and historical offset changes can affect the converted instant. Some calculators also adjust clock time using a solar-time method; if that adjustment moves a birth across a chart boundary, the result may change. Four Pillars Chart’s methodology describes one implementation using location, historical IANA time-zone offsets, and a solar-time adjustment, including cases near midnight or a traditional two-hour boundary.

Other conventions that can produce different charts
When two calculators disagree, compare their published rules before treating either result as an error. Differences may involve the year or month boundary, place reference point, historical time-zone data, solar-time method, day boundary around late Zi hour, treatment of unknown birth time, hidden-stem display, or cycle rule. The practical standard is reproducibility under declared conventions, not an unsupported claim that one calculator is “the most accurate.”
- State whether the year changes at Li Chun, Lunar New Year, or another defined boundary.
- Explain whether month pillars follow Jie solar terms and how their instants are handled.
- Say whether the tool accepts a birthplace, a time zone, a UTC offset, or a combination, and how it handles historical clock changes.
- Disclose whether solar-time correction is used and whether users can turn it on or off.
- Describe the day-boundary rule and what happens when time is missing or close to a transition.
- Include the inputs and conventions in the PDF so a reader can reproduce the chart.
These are calculations within a traditional cultural system. A consistent result under stated rules is not evidence that an interpretation is scientifically validated or predictive.

What Cloudflare Workers’ limits mean for the build
Cloudflare’s 2026 Workers documentation lists 100,000 requests per day on the Free plan and a 10 ms CPU limit per HTTP request. The Paid plan starts at a $5 monthly account minimum; its CPU limit is five minutes, with 30 seconds as the default. These are Cloudflare-published platform figures, not measurements of this calculator’s traffic, capacity, or bill. Check the Workers pricing documentation and Workers limits documentation for current terms before deployment decisions.
Cloudflare defines CPU time as time spent actively executing Worker code; waiting on network requests, KV reads, or database queries is excluded. As a result, a chart calculation that performs little computation may fit a tight CPU budget even if the request waits on an external service. Conversely, a CPU-intensive operation can exceed the Free limit even if the overall response appears quick. Whether a specific calculation or PDF workflow fits depends on where work happens and must be established from the implementation and its measurements.

Keep chart requests and report generation distinct
The product description establishes a free chart and an optional one-time PDF report, but it does not establish how the PDF is generated. Do not assume that a PDF library runs inside the Worker, that an external rendering service is involved, or that one approach meets the Free CPU limit. Determine which part of the workflow calculates the chart, renders the document, handles checkout, and delivers the file; then measure the actual Worker execution path against its applicable limits.
Account for D1 only if the application uses it
If the project uses Cloudflare D1, its Free allowances are separate from Workers’ limits. Cloudflare’s D1 documentation lists 5 million rows read per day, 100,000 rows written per day, and 5 GB total storage for Workers Free. Queries fail when the daily read or write allowance is reached until the quota resets or the account upgrades. Worker CPU used to query D1 and compute or serialize results is also subject to Workers pricing. These limits do not apply as a description of this project unless its actual configuration uses D1. See Cloudflare D1 pricing documentation.

Make the free chart and paid report boundary clear
Free chart generation and a one-time paid report are different product steps. The project should say plainly what the free result includes, what additional content or format the report adds, and what the one-time charge is before checkout. The topic alone does not establish the price, payment processor, PDF generation method, delivery mechanism, or whether a report can be regenerated; those details should be described only when confirmed by the live product or implementation.
Birth details are sensitive personal information for many users, even when entered for a cultural calculation. Explain what information is collected, why it is needed, how long it is retained, and whether users can delete or export it. Do not imply that data is discarded immediately or stored in a particular database without evidence from the product’s privacy disclosures and configuration.

A practical pre-release checklist
- Verify the calculation: identify the calendar algorithm or library and document the year, month, day, and time conventions the tool applies.
- Test boundary cases: check dates near Li Chun and Jie transitions, local clock changes, midnight, late Zi hour, and any solar-time adjustment the product offers.
- Make results reproducible: show the user’s relevant inputs and the conventions used, including in the report where possible.
- Trace the report workflow: confirm where PDF rendering, payment, and delivery occur rather than inferring the architecture from the product description.
- Measure the deployed path: inspect CPU use and other relevant resource consumption for chart and report requests, and verify the applicable Cloudflare plan limits.
- Confirm data handling: align the product’s collection, retention, deletion, and export statements with its actual behavior.
Cloudflare’s platform capabilities and limits evolve; its Workers pricing page was last updated October 2, 2026, and its D1 pricing page was last updated April 21, 2026. Verify the official documentation again when choosing a plan or publishing current allowance figures.
