Random freezes, missing sound and display glitches usually trace back to one bad driver. Find and replace yours safely.Free scan · under a minuteNeither Hotels.com nor Booking.com is reliably better for every hotel stay. Compare the same property, dates, guests, room, meal plan, cancellation terms, payment timing, and final price—including taxes and fees. Then count a loyalty benefit only if it applies to that exact booking and its restrictions work for you.
Which is cheaper for the same hotel?
There is no established platform-wide price winner. Rates and booking conditions vary by stay, and the available official policy information does not establish that either site is consistently cheaper. Compare live offers for your dates rather than relying on a displayed discount or a general claim about one service.

Use this checklist to make the offers genuinely comparable:
- Match the property, dates, number of guests, and room type and occupancy.
- Check whether breakfast or another meal is included.
- Compare the cancellation deadline and any cancellation charge.
- Check whether payment is due now or at the property, and whether a deposit is required.
- Compare the final payable amount, including taxes and fees, rather than only the first nightly rate.
- Apply a Genius rate or One Key benefit only if it is available for that exact offer; account for its restrictions and future-use conditions.
A lower headline rate is not necessarily the better deal if it buys a less flexible room, excludes a meal, or requires earlier payment.

Which site has better cancellation options?
Neither site guarantees the same flexibility across all properties or rooms. Booking.com says cancellation and change options depend on the terms of the individual booking. Those terms are shown on the property information pages, during booking, and in the confirmation. Booking.com’s U.S. terms are the place to start, but the terms attached to the specific reservation are what matter.
Before paying, find the exact cancellation deadline, whether cancellation is free, and what charge applies after the deadline. Also check the payment schedule: a reservation that can be canceled may still have a deposit or payment requirement. Keep the confirmation so you can refer to the terms you accepted.

Is Booking.com Genius worth it?
Genius rates are membership rates, not proof that a reservation is the lowest available price. Booking.com’s U.S. terms list cruises, insurance, public transportation, and free options among the reservation categories excluded from Genius. Eligibility and pricing still depend on the individual offer. The terms do not establish that a Genius rate will beat a comparable Hotels.com offer.

Does Hotels.com price match?
Hotels.com describes a U.S. price guarantee, but it is conditional. The claim must compare the same property, dates, and accommodation option, and the claimant must be a One Key member. The policy says an eligible lower price may be compensated in OneKeyCash, not cash. Check the Hotels.com U.S. price-guarantee terms before relying on a claim.
The page says a claim can be submitted up to the day before check-in; claims on check-in day are excluded. It also excludes some offers unavailable to the general public, including competitor loyalty-member-only rates. OneKeyCash is not redeemable for cash and can be used only on Expedia, Hotels.com, and Vrbo. That makes it restricted future value, not an immediate reduction in what you pay for the booking. Policy terms can change, so verify the live terms for your reservation.

How to choose between the two for your stay
Use the booking that gives you the better combination of total cost and terms for the trip—not the service with the more appealing headline rate or membership label.

- Search both services for the same property, dates, and guest count.
- Open each offer and confirm that room type, occupancy, and meal inclusions match.
- Read the cancellation deadline, charges, and payment schedule for each specific offer.
- Compare the total payable price after taxes and fees.
- Count a loyalty rate or benefit only after confirming eligibility and considering any restrictions on its value.
- Choose the offer whose price, flexibility, and payment timing best fit your needs.
If the offers do not match on room or terms, they are not a like-for-like comparison; decide whether the difference is worth the change in price or flexibility.
