To price a print-on-demand product in Hostinger AI Builder’s manual mode, start with the costs for the exact Printful product and destination, then choose a retail price that fits your cost target, competitors, and the value of your design. Include fulfillment, applicable taxes and setup fees, and the shipping amount or policy customers see. Printful’s production charge alone is not your business’s full cost or net profit.
What you need to include in a POD price
Printful charges you for fulfilling an order after your store receives it. Its fulfillment cost covers producing and shipping the item, but the amount varies by product and can depend on the base item, printing technique, and added features. Check the current cost for the exact product and variant rather than relying on a universal estimate.

- Product and fulfillment: the supplier charge for the item and its production.
- Product-specific extras: printing features and, where applicable, design digitalization or setup fees.
- Taxes: VAT or sales tax may apply. The amount depends on the relevant jurisdiction; there is no universal rate to use for every order.
- Shipping: decide what the buyer pays and account for the shipping cost either way.
- Other seller expenses: account for applicable business costs beyond Printful’s fulfillment charge before treating the remainder as business profit.
Printful’s simplified formula is “Your profit = Retail price – Printful cost.” That is useful for understanding the difference between the retail price and supplier cost, but it is not a complete net-profit calculation if taxes, shipping, setup fees, or other seller expenses are not included.

- Choose the precise item and configuration. Identify the product, variant, print method, added features, and fulfillment region you intend to sell. These details can change the supplier cost.
- Check current supplier charges. Look up Printful’s current fulfillment and shipping charges for the actual product and destination or destinations. Printful’s pricing resources and calculator can help, but treat the figures as inputs to verify rather than permanent prices.
- Add applicable extras and taxes. Include any product-specific setup or digitalization fees and estimate the tax exposure that applies to your business and customers. Check the rules for the jurisdictions involved instead of applying an assumed universal rate.
- Choose a customer-facing shipping policy in Hostinger. Decide whether the buyer pays shipping separately or whether you incorporate it into the product price. Hostinger supports flat-rate, order-price, and weight-based shipping rules. Printful’s Hostinger setup guide says live rates and automatic flat-rate push are unsupported, so configure the shipping rules in Hostinger rather than expecting Printful rates to sync automatically.
- Select a pricing approach. Use cost-plus, market-based, or value-based reasoning, as described below. Set the retail price with the product’s costs and shipping policy in view.
- Review actual order economics periodically. Compare what customers paid with supplier charges and other costs, and revisit the price when Printful rates, shipping arrangements, or tax regulations change.
Choose the pricing approach that fits the product
Cost-plus: start with the required contribution
Add the costs you intend the retail price to cover, then decide how much contribution you need beyond them. Make clear in your calculation whether shipping is charged separately or included in the product price, and whether taxes and seller-side expenses are included. This approach helps prevent a price that fails to cover known costs, but it does not by itself establish what customers will pay.

Market-based: compare like with like
Look at comparable products to understand the market position your price would occupy. Compare items with similar product type, quality, audience, and shipping terms; otherwise, the price comparison can be misleading. A custom T-shirt listing on Amazon, for example, may inform competitor research, but it does not establish Printful’s cost, equivalent product quality, or the right price for your store.
Value-based: price for the value customers perceive
Consider whether the design, brand, or audience gives the product a distinct perceived value. A distinctive design may support a different price from a generic design, but perceived value is a judgment to test with customers and sales—not a guaranteed premium. Check that the resulting price still works against your actual costs and market alternatives.

Keep supplier billing separate from customer payment
The customer pays your store, while Printful charges the seller separately for fulfillment and shipping through the billing method on the Printful account. That timing matters: you need an appropriate payment method and enough available funds to cover fulfillment when orders arrive, rather than assuming the customer’s payment is automatically transferred to Printful.

Hostinger also notes that the store currency is managed separately from Printful. Your store currency determines how customers see prices and pay you, so check the currency presentation in the store as part of reviewing the customer-facing price.

When to revisit your price
Hostinger advises sellers to “Re-evaluate your prices periodically as Printful rates or tax regulations change.” A practical review should also account for changes to shipping costs or the shipping rules you configured in Hostinger. Recalculate using the current product configuration and destination assumptions; do not carry forward an old supplier quote as if it were fixed.
