Hosting Costs and Plan Differences in 2026

DreamHost Launch has a displayed introductory price for the first year. Compare the full-term cost, renewal, and tier-specific features before choosing.

Compare the full upfront term, renewal price, and exact tier you need. DreamHost’s displayed Launch offer is $2.89 per month for the first year, then $10.99 per month at renewal. DreamHost says it charges the full term plus taxes at checkout.

How the listed prices compare

DreamHost shows a low introductory monthly equivalent and a higher renewal rate. Those figures are useful only when read with the term and total charge: DreamHost’s Launch offer covers a first year. Prices and eligibility can vary by region and change; treat these as displayed provider offers, not guaranteed future checkout prices.

What the plans include—and what varies by tier

Confirm the exact plan card for site count, storage, backups, email, and other included services rather than assuming the entry plan has the same features as an upper tier.

Sites and storage

DreamHost’s current page lists plan-specific site and storage features, so select the intended tier and term before comparing capacity.

Backups and restoration

DreamHost’s displayed plans include daily automated backups, and its FAQ gives a 14-day backup-retention detail for relevant plans. Frequency alone does not establish how long a backup is retained or how restoration works; check the selected tier’s restore process and retention terms.

Domains and email

DreamHost includes a free first-year domain and private registration on annual or multi-year Web Hosting, DreamPress, and Managed VPS plans, but not monthly plans. A free first-year domain is not a permanent exemption from renewal charges.

Email also has term and tier conditions. DreamHost lists a three-month email trial on Launch, Growth, and Scale, with mailbox counts varying by tier; email is separately billed after the trial. Its High-Performance Web Hosting includes unlimited mailboxes.

Migration, CDN, and tools

DreamHost offers a free automated transfer tool for WordPress; other sites may need a manual move or a paid migration from its experts. If you are moving a non-WordPress site, clarify the process and any fee before choosing.

DreamHost describes Bunny CDN as an optional paid add-on for Web Hosting; managed WordPress tiers may include different features. Compare the precise plan rather than treating its tools as uniform across its lineup.

Which host fits your situation?

  • One small site: Compare the actual entry tier and the amount due for the full term. Include renewal, domain terms, and whether email remains included for as long as you need it.
  • Several sites or expected growth: Match the tier to the number of sites and storage you need, then compare backup frequency, limits, and the cost of upgrading. Do not assume a starter plan scales without limits.
  • A WordPress move: DreamHost’s automated transfer tool is specifically described for WordPress. Confirm eligibility and the steps for your site before relying on the offer.
  • Email is essential: Account for trial end dates, mailbox counts, and separate billing—not just the web-hosting price.
  • CDN or managed features matter: Check whether the feature is included in the selected tier or is an add-on, especially when comparing DreamHost Web Hosting with a managed WordPress plan.

What the performance claims do—and do not—show

The available material does not establish a current, independent, like-for-like performance winner. DreamHost’s current Web Hosting page describes a 100% uptime guarantee that provides credits for qualifying downtime. A guarantee is a service term, not a measurement of actual uptime or page speed.

TechRadar published a hands-on comparison in March 2025, but its plan configurations and prices differ from current provider offers. It should not be treated as a 2026 test of the plan listed above. A useful performance comparison would need to match the selected tier, site configuration, audience geography, and measurement period; without that, older test results do not settle how fast the host will be for your site.

Support and refund terms

DreamHost advertises 24/7 support and a 30-day hosting refund window on its current hosting pages. These are published offers, not unconditional guarantees; review the applicable terms and exclusions for the product and region you plan to buy. DreamHost hosting plans
