Home Widget 1.10 adds a shortcut from an iPhone or iPad widget—or Control Center—to a scrollable mosaic of cameras already available in Apple Home. That can mean fewer steps than opening Home and navigating to a camera, but “fastest” is 9to5Mac’s characterization of the workflow, not a result from a timed comparison.
What Home Widget 1.10 does
Home Widget is a companion control surface for an existing Apple Home setup, not a replacement for the Home app’s smart-home setup process. Its customizable panels can place accessory controls and sensor readings on the Home Screen or Lock Screen. According to 9to5Mac’s October 2, 2026 coverage, users can configure tile icons, names, colors, and sizes, and panels sync through iCloud. The developer’s release announcement describes the Camera Mosaic and other 1.10 changes: Home Widget 1.10 release discussion.

The practical appeal is direct access: instead of opening Apple Home and finding a camera, tap the widget to open the mosaic. You can choose to show all available cameras or a subset. A Control Center control can open the mosaic or a selected camera. Once there, tap a camera tile to open its camera view; the developer also describes zooming on a camera from iPhone, iPad, or Apple Watch.
The “fastest” claim should be understood as a description of this shorter route, not a measured ranking against Apple Home or other camera apps. Neither the developer announcement nor the coverage reports a timed comparison.

- HomeKit Support & Wide Compatibility: The Aqara G100 Camera provides full support for HomeKit Secure Video (Note:Requires an active iCloud subscription and an Apple Home hub. HomeKit limits resolution to 1080p. When connected to both Apple and Aqara Home, the G100’s resolution in Aqara Home will also be limited to 1080p, but will return to 1296p if HomeKit is disconnected.) The G100 has some of the best third-party ecosystem support on the market, it can stream to Google, Alexa compatible smart displays, and even Home Assistant via the RTSP protocol, making it easier to interact with visitors or check in on loved ones.
- Flexible Storage Methods: Record 24/7 with a microSD (up to 512GB, not included) or NAS. Time-lapse mode compresses 24-hours of footage to 15-second clips (wired connection and microSD card required). Automatically store detected events with end-to-end encryption in the cloud with a HomeGuardian subscription, ensuring protection against data theft and guaranteeing your privacy at home.
What you see: the widget and the mosaic are different
The widget is a launch point, not a continuously playing camera monitor. In a developer reply to a question about live video in widgets, the Home Widget developer said iOS does not allow a widget to display a continuous live camera stream, so tapping it opens the mosaic or camera view. The developer also described a camera widget as showing the latest still image rather than live video: developer discussion of camera behavior.
There is a version distinction: an App Store search result for Home Widget reports that version 1.10.3 added optional live camera streams inside the mosaic. That is a statement about the in-app mosaic, not video embedded in the widget. The App Store page itself was not retrievable for verification in the cited coverage, so check the current listing before relying on that feature or its availability for your device and region: Home Widget on the App Store.

Other changes in version 1.10
The camera mosaic is one part of the update. The 9to5Mac account of version 1.10 and the developer’s announcement also describe:
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute- Thermostat controls: control thermostats from widgets. Coverage of version 1.10.2 says support was extended to heating systems exposed as HeaterCooler.
- Room-wide lighting actions: toggle, dim, or change the color of all lights in a room.
- More Matter sensor readings: display multiple readings from multi-sensor Matter accessories.
- Updated widget appearances: Clear, Tinted, Light, Dark, and Liquid Glass styles.
- Accessory and action search: version 1.10.2 added search when adding accessories, sensors, scenes, or actions.
- Apple Watch support: the developer describes richer watch support alongside the mosaic features.
These features depend on what your accessories expose to Apple Home; the release notes do not establish that every device offers every control. Early users also raised concerns about long labels, camera ordering, and thermostats that lacked expected controls. The developer said 1.10.2 added compact labels, manual camera ordering, selectable featured cameras, and HeaterCooler support. Those changes address specific reported cases, not a guarantee of universal accessory compatibility.

Who benefits—and what to check first
The mosaic is most useful if several cameras are already exposed through Apple Home and you want a quick way to open all of them or a chosen subset. It is not a way to add a camera to Apple Home or configure a smart home from scratch; that remains the job of the Home app and compatible accessory setup.
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →- If you want an always-visible live feed without opening anything, this widget is not that: it launches a view instead of playing continuous video in the widget.
- If you want optional live streams within the mosaic, confirm that version 1.10.3 or later is available to you and that the listing still describes the feature.
- If you are buying a camera to use with Apple Home, verify compatibility for the exact model, configuration, and region before purchasing. 9to5Mac links to the eufyCam 2C as HomeKit compatible, but that reference is not a guarantee for every variant or setup: 9to5Mac’s Home Widget 1.10 coverage.
The developer wrote in the release post, “I build Home Widget on my own.” That is the developer’s statement in the announcement; the cited discussion does not establish a verified full name.
