For a conventional digital-detox flip phone, choose the HMD 2660 Flip. It is built around calls, messaging, large controls and flip-to-answer use rather than social media. If you specifically want an AI companion, the HMD 2660 Senior Edition adds inTouch Mary, with a five-hour trial followed by a stated €19.90-per-month subscription.
The best alternative depends on how much modern connectivity you still need. Light Phone III is the premium minimalist handset with 5G, GPS, NFC, a camera and fingerprint identification. Punkt MP02 is the smallest, most keypad-focused option, but its official page records its last software update as 5 August 2021. Mudita Pure is the strongest offline-first choice because it has no Wi-Fi or mobile data on the phone. Mudita Kompakt is the E Ink model for buyers who still need LTE, Wi-Fi, GPS, a camera and expandable storage.

Quick answer: which minimalist phone should you buy?
| What you want | Best fit | Why it fits | Main compromise |
|---|---|---|---|
| A simple flip phone for calls and texts | HMD 2660 Flip | Large display, large buttons, simple controls and flip-to-answer behavior in a 4G design HMD describes as social-media-free. | It is intentionally limited compared with a smartphone. |
| A flip phone with an AI companion | HMD 2660 Senior Edition | Adds the inTouch Mary AI companion to the HMD flip-phone format. | The AI service is trial-based and then paid; the stated price is €19.90 per month after five hours. |
| Modern connectivity with selected tools | Light Phone III | 5G/4G LTE, GPS, NFC, fingerprint ID, camera, 128GB storage and 6GB RAM. | Its listed unlocked pre-order price is $899, and carrier compatibility must be checked. |
| The smallest keypad-led phone | Punkt MP02 | A 100g body, physical keypad and a deliberately narrow software set. | The official product page lists 5 August 2021 as the last software-update date. |
| A phone that keeps internet off the handset | Mudita Pure | Mudita specifies no Wi-Fi and no mobile data on the phone, alongside cellular calling, E Ink and a replaceable battery. | It cannot provide the app and web features found on a modern smartphone. |
| E Ink plus smartphone-style hardware | Mudita Kompakt | 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 5, GPS, NFC, an 8MP camera and microSD expansion. | It offers substantially more capability, and therefore more potential distraction, than Mudita Pure. |
There is no universal winner. “Minimalist” can mean a basic flip phone, a phone with only chosen tools, a device without internet on the handset, or an E Ink interface that discourages long sessions. Decide which of those you mean before comparing prices.

A minimalist phone reduces either the number of available services, the speed at which you can consume them, or both. A keypad phone can remove the visual pull of a touchscreen. An E Ink phone can make reading and scrolling less inviting. A phone with no Wi-Fi or on-device mobile data can remove web access altogether, while a more capable model may keep only the tools you consider essential.

- 【Strong Adsorption】The inspiration of the silicone phone suction case comes from the adhesive force of the octopus. Each suction cup phone mount is 3.15 inches long and 2.17 inches wide, with 24 independent suction cups providing a stronger and more stable suction force, so you don't have to worry about your phone falling during use.
- 【Back of Phone Suction Grip】Remove the adhesive film on the phone suction cup and stick it on the phone case. You can then fix the phone on any smooth surface, which is very convenient. (The phone suction cup cannot be removed and reused after being attached to the phone case. It is recommended to attach it to a regular phone case, not a valuable one.)
- 【Widely Used】Our non-slip silicone phone sticky grip mount attaches to almost any flat phone case and make it compatible with common mobile phones such as iPhone and Android. You can shoot, watch videos or video calls in the kitchen, gym, dance studio, bathroom and other places.
- 【Capture the Wonderful Picture】Whether you are a TikTok creator or just like to share videos and photos, this phone suction cup can help you hands-free capture wonderful videos and photos for sharing with friends.
- 【Note】You can fix the phone suction cup on a smooth surface such as a mirror or glass. If necessary, wipe the suction cup with a damp cloth to obtain stronger suction. Before releasing your hand, make sure the phone is firmly fixed. (Not applicable to rough walls, wooden surfaces, and other uneven surfaces)
That distinction matters in this comparison. HMD 2660 and Punkt MP02 constrain the interface and app selection. Light Phone III and Mudita Kompakt retain selected modern hardware and connectivity. Mudita Pure takes the most literal offline approach: it still uses cellular networks, but Mudita says the handset itself has no Wi-Fi and no mobile data.
Before buying, define the functions you cannot lose: voice calls, SMS, group messaging, navigation, contactless payments, a camera, music, tethering, or an emergency feature. A phone that is “more minimal” on paper can be the wrong choice if it removes a service you rely on every day.
HMD 2660 Flip: the clearest digital-detox choice
HMD positions the 2660 as a social-media-free 4G flip phone with a large display, large buttons, simple controls and flip-to-answer behavior. That combination makes it the most approachable option for someone who wants a familiar phone shape but fewer opportunities to open feeds, stores or web services. HMD’s 2 March 2025 press release calls it “the ultimate tool for a digital detox.”

What daily use feels like
The outer and inner flip-phone design lets you answer by opening the handset and end a conversation by closing it. Large physical buttons reduce the precision needed for dialing and texting, while the larger display is easier to read than the tiny screens used on many compact keypad phones. Those traits also make the 2660 a sensible choice for older users or anyone who finds small touch targets frustrating.
HMD describes the phone around calls, messaging and simple feature-phone functions rather than a smartphone app ecosystem. The result is a clear boundary: you can remain reachable without carrying a device designed for continuous content consumption. The available data does not establish a full application list, camera specification, storage capacity or battery-life figure, so those should be confirmed for the exact regional edition before purchase.
Which HMD 2660 has AI?
The AI option is the HMD 2660 Senior Edition, not the ordinary 2660 description. The Senior Edition adds the inTouch Mary AI companion. HMD and inTouch state that the service can be tried for five hours; after that trial, the stated subscription is €19.90 per month. The currency and price are the figures shown on the 2026 Senior Edition page, so verify availability and billing terms in your country.

- SUPERIOR COMFORT — Unlike traditional circular ear buds, the design of EarPods is defined by the geometry of the ear. Which makes them more comfortable for more people than any other ear bud–style headphones.
- HIGH-QUALITY AUDIO — The speakers inside EarPods have been engineered to maximize sound output and minimize sound loss, which means you get high-quality audio.
- BUILT-IN REMOTE — EarPods with USB-C plug also include a built-in remote that lets you adjust the volume, control the playback of music and video, and answer or end calls with a pinch of the cord.
- COMPATIBILITY — Works with all devices that have a USB-C port.
- INTEGRATED MICROPHONE — A built-in microphone precisely captures your voice while you’re on the phone, taking a FaceTime call, or summoning Siri — so you’re always heard loud and clear.
That subscription changes the buying decision. If your goal is simply to remove social media, the standard 2660 may be sufficient and avoids adding a recurring service. If you want an AI assistant on a simple flip-phone interface, the Senior Edition is the only model in this group explicitly presented with that feature. HMD Chairman and CEO Jean-François Baril said in the company’s 1 March 2026 announcement, “At HMD, we believe innovation is most powerful when it makes technology more accessible and meaningful in everyday life.”

Light Phone III: the premium minimalist phone for selected tools
Light Phone III is the opposite of an ultra-basic keypad phone. It keeps a modern communications platform while limiting the experience to selected tools. Light lists 5G and 4G LTE, GPS, NFC, fingerprint identification, a camera, 128GB of storage, 6GB of RAM and a 3.92-inch AMOLED display.
Why choose it
This is the strongest fit for someone who wants to leave a mainstream smartphone but still needs contemporary connectivity. GPS can support location-based use, NFC opens possibilities for contactless functions, and the camera means you do not automatically need a second device for snapshots. The fingerprint reader offers a faster unlock method than a keypad code. Those features make Light Phone III more flexible than HMD 2660 or Punkt MP02.
That flexibility also means it is not the most restrictive device here. A minimalist phone only works if its available tools match your personal boundaries. If navigation, payments or photography are exactly the conveniences that pull you into a phone, a model that retains them may require more self-control than a flip phone or an offline-first E Ink handset.
Price and carrier checks
Light’s 2026 product page lists an $899 unlocked pre-order price. “Pre-order” matters: it is not the same as a confirmed in-stock retail price, and delivery timing or regional availability can change. Light also tells buyers to verify carrier compatibility. Check the supported bands and your carrier’s activation policy before paying, particularly if you are importing the phone or moving from a carrier that requires certification.
Light’s official protection plan is US-only for new Light Phone III purchases. The listed price is $9.99 per month, with a $49 damage deductible and a $99 replacement deductible. Those terms are relevant only if you are buying in the United States and the handset qualifies as a new purchase under the plan’s conditions.

Punkt MP02: compact, keypad-led and intentionally narrow
Punkt MP02 is for buyers who value physical compactness and a short list of functions over a large display or modern smartphone hardware. Punkt lists a 100g body, a 2-inch 320×240 display, 4G network support, 2GB of RAM and 16GB of storage. The phone uses Apostrophy OS with Pigeon, Personalise and DailyView, and the product page lists IP52 protection.
What it does well
The small body and physical keypad make the MP02 easy to carry and difficult to mistake for a general-purpose smartphone. Its constrained interface can be an advantage if you want fewer menus and fewer visual temptations. The 4G radio keeps it relevant to networks that have moved beyond older 2G-only service, although activation still depends on local bands and carrier support.
The software-update question
Does the Punkt MP02 still get updates? Punkt’s official product page records the last software update as 5 August 2021. That date does not prove that every unit is insecure or unusable, but it is a material ownership risk in 2026. Ask the seller or manufacturer whether newer firmware exists for your region, how updates are delivered, and what support remains for the listed services. If current security maintenance is a deciding factor, the documented update history should weigh heavily against an otherwise attractive compact design.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteMudita Pure: the strongest offline-first phone
Mudita Pure is the clearest answer to “Can I use a phone without internet?” Mudita’s specification says the handset has no Wi-Fi and no mobile data on the phone. It still supports 2G, 3G and 4G cellular service, so it can handle ordinary mobile communication without functioning as an internet-connected smartphone.
Hardware and offline features
The Pure uses an E Ink display. Mudita’s technical specifications identify it as a 2.84-inch panel with 600×480 resolution and 16 grayscale levels. The phone also lists music playback, USB tethering and a 3.5mm headphone jack. Its approximately 1,600mAh battery is replaceable, which is important for long-term ownership because a worn battery does not automatically make the handset disposable.
USB tethering deserves a careful distinction: Mudita lists the capability even though the phone itself has no mobile data function. Confirm the exact tethering behavior and carrier support for your software version if you intend to use it. The central Pure experience remains offline-first: no Wi-Fi networks to join and no on-device mobile-data browsing.

- [360 ° Flexible Rotation Design] Comes with a rotatable lanyard ring that supports 360 ° free rotation, effectively solving the problem of twisted and tangled lanyards
- [Wide compatibility] The ultra-thin 0.02-inch design does not block the charging port at all, and both wired and wireless charging can be used directly without removing the pad. Compatible with most smartphones such as iPhone, compatible with various wristbands, lanyards, crossbody straps, and keychains
- [Durable and Portable Material] Premium rust-resistant stainless steel material with good flexibility, which not only avoids scratching the phone case, but also has excellent anti rust and anti fading performance
- [Multi scenario Practical] Paired with a lanyard or wristband, hands-free use can be achieved. The phone is within reach and not easily dropped, ideal for daily commuting and outdoor activities. Suitable for full coverage phone cases, does not support half coverage phone cases
- [Quality Service] If you find any damage or other issues with the product upon receipt, please contact us immediately. We will handle it quickly
Who should buy it
Choose Pure if the absence of internet access on the handset is the feature, not a side effect. It suits a deliberate separation between calls, texts and offline activities such as music and a connected computer or tablet. It is a poor fit if you need turn-by-turn navigation, web authentication, mobile banking, app-based messaging or a camera in the same device.

Mudita Kompakt occupies the middle ground between a feature phone and a de-Googled smartphone. It has a 4.3-inch E Ink touchscreen with 800×480 resolution, 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 5, GPS, NFC and an 8MP camera. Mudita lists 32GB of internal storage, expandable to 2TB with a microSD card, a 3,300mAh battery and MuditaOS K.
Why it is different from Pure
Kompakt keeps the slower, less visually aggressive E Ink presentation but restores the connectivity that Pure removes. You can connect to Wi-Fi, use cellular LTE, access GPS and carry a camera. Expandable storage also makes it more practical for local files and media than a narrowly specified keypad phone.
Those additions make Kompakt more capable, but they also weaken the hard boundary that makes Pure attractive. Wi-Fi, GPS, NFC and a touchscreen can support useful tasks; they can also create more opportunities for distraction. Treat Kompakt as a controlled smartphone alternative rather than an offline phone.

How the phones differ in real-world priorities
Distraction control
HMD 2660 and Punkt MP02 impose the strongest interface limits. Their physical controls and narrower feature sets make accidental feed-checking less likely. Mudita Pure goes further by removing Wi-Fi and on-device mobile data entirely. Light Phone III and Mudita Kompakt retain more tools, so their effectiveness depends on which services you choose to keep and how you configure them.
The Tool Desk
Outbyte Driver Updater FREEFix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Outbyte PC Repair FREERepair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Connectivity
Light Phone III and Mudita Kompakt are the broadest modern-connectivity choices. HMD 2660 focuses on core feature-phone communication. Punkt MP02 provides 4G in a compact body but has an older documented update date. Pure supports cellular generations through 4G while intentionally omitting Wi-Fi and mobile data on the handset.

Physical usability
HMD’s flip mechanism, large buttons and large display favor straightforward operation and can help users with reduced dexterity or eyesight. Punkt’s 100g keypad body favors pocketability. Mudita Pure’s smaller E Ink screen prioritizes offline simplicity, while Kompakt’s larger E Ink touchscreen gives more room for reading and navigation through its available functions.
Ownership and support
Minimalist hardware is not maintenance-free. Verify network bands, SIM or eSIM requirements, regional certification, update delivery, battery replacement and repair options. A cheap handset that cannot activate on your carrier is not a bargain, and a premium handset with no local support can be difficult to repair. The Punkt update date and Light Phone III’s US-only protection plan show why support terms belong in the comparison, not just the specification list.
Choose by use case
“I want a dumb phone that is easy to operate.”
Start with HMD 2660 Flip. Its large controls and flip-to-answer behavior address the physical usability problem directly. Select the Senior Edition only if the inTouch Mary AI companion justifies a recurring €19.90 monthly charge after its five-hour trial.

“I need maps, NFC or a camera but want fewer smartphone habits.”
Compare Light Phone III and Mudita Kompakt. Light offers the more modern hardware list, including 5G, fingerprint identification and 128GB storage. Kompakt keeps E Ink and adds LTE, Wi-Fi, GPS, NFC, an 8MP camera and expandable storage. Your choice is between Light’s premium connected approach and Kompakt’s E Ink interface.
“I want the smallest possible phone.”
Punkt MP02 is the obvious physical fit because of its 100g body and keypad-led design. Balance that benefit against the product page’s 5 August 2021 last-update date and confirm that its software support meets your expectations.
“I do not want internet access on the phone.”
Choose Mudita Pure. It is the only model here whose stated specification explicitly removes both Wi-Fi and mobile data from the handset. Confirm any tethering requirement separately, because sharing connectivity with another device is a different use case from browsing on Pure itself.
“I want E Ink but cannot give up modern connectivity.”
Choose Mudita Kompakt. Its LTE, Wi-Fi 5, GPS, NFC, camera and microSD support make it substantially more versatile than Pure while retaining an E Ink display.
Buying and setup checklist
- Write down your non-negotiable tasks. Include calls, SMS, group messages, navigation, payments, photos, music, tethering and any work or emergency requirement.
- Check carrier compatibility before ordering. Confirm supported 2G, 3G, 4G or 5G bands, VoLTE requirements, SIM format and whether the carrier permits unlocked or imported devices. Light explicitly asks buyers to verify compatibility.
- Confirm the exact edition. HMD’s standard 2660 and Senior Edition are not the same purchase; only the Senior Edition is presented with inTouch Mary AI.
- Price recurring services separately from hardware. Include the HMD AI subscription after its five-hour trial if applicable. For Light Phone III, distinguish the $899 unlocked pre-order price from later retail pricing and add the US-only protection plan only if you qualify and want it.
- Review software support. Ask how updates are delivered and check the latest date for the exact model. Punkt’s listed 5 August 2021 update date is a warning to investigate rather than assume current maintenance.
- Plan charging and battery service. Check the connector, availability of replacement batteries and repair procedures. Mudita Pure’s replaceable battery is a meaningful advantage for owners who plan to keep a phone for years.
- Set boundaries during setup. Remove any service you do not need, disable notifications that recreate smartphone habits, and keep essential contacts and emergency information available offline.
- Test before your return window closes. Place calls, send texts, test indoor reception, verify voicemail, pair any required accessories and confirm that every essential task works on your carrier.
Final verdict
Buy the HMD 2660 Flip for the most straightforward digital-detox experience, or the Senior Edition if an AI companion is worth its paid subscription. Choose Light Phone III when modern connectivity and selected tools matter more than the highest level of restriction. Pick Punkt MP02 for compact keypad simplicity only after considering its old documented update date. Choose Mudita Pure when no Wi-Fi or mobile data on the phone is the central requirement. Choose Mudita Kompakt when you want E Ink without giving up LTE, Wi-Fi, GPS, NFC, a camera or expandable storage.
