The Genesis Configuration puzzles in Hellraiser: Revival rely on two things: using the box to move or reshape the environment, and reading the clues already in each room. For item gates, retrieve the missing statue part first, fit it into the relief, then rotate the box to match. For the looping house, turn back when the room’s distorted details tell you the scene has changed.
How the Genesis Configuration works
The Genesis Configuration is both a combat tool and an environmental puzzle mechanism. PlayStation’s pre-release puzzle preview shows it rotating a giant wheel to realign narrow walkways and changing shape to match a statue relief after the missing statue item is recovered. Assistant Game Director Vid Rajin described it as central to the game’s design: “We use the Genesis Configuration – a puzzle box – at the centre of things,” as quoted by PlayStation Blog.

When a cube puzzle does not respond, check whether the room requires an item first. The relief generally indicates the target shape; rotate the Configuration until it matches, then confirm. Exact face-by-face layouts are best followed from the guide’s screenshots, since a prose description can be ambiguous about orientation.

Picture lock and cabinet
- Inspect the study desk and find the picture of flowers.
- Rotate the sections of the cabinet lock until the filled triangles are centered as shown in that picture.
- Open the cabinet and take the Marlowe Figurine.
The desk picture is the local solution clue; it is not a universal code for other locks.
Statue’s Hand and Resurrection Key
- Use the winding handle on the gramophone to reveal the Bruno Figurine.
- Place the Bruno and Marlowe figurines on the central stand.
- Take the Statue’s Hand and Resurrection Key that appear.
Three-figure painting room
In the gas-filled room, compare the three statues with the large painting. Adjust each statue until its pose matches the corresponding figure in the painting; the way forward opens behind the painting.
Courtyard hand gate
- Return to the gate with the missing hand and place the Statue’s Hand.
- Interact with the glowing relief.
- Rotate the Genesis Configuration until its shape matches the relief, then confirm.
Statue head gate
After retrieving the Statue’s Head at the cabin, return to the matching gate. Place the head, interact with the relief and rotate the Configuration to match the pictured shape.

Retrieve the Statue’s Tongue, bring it back to its gate and fit it into place. Interact with the relief and rotate the Configuration to match the shape shown there.

Well, fuse box and later locks
Well and labyrinth picture
Find the three Puzzle Blocks in the playground, boat and pagoda. Insert them at the well, then rotate the four pieces to reconstruct the image shown in the walkthrough. Use the image as the target rather than relying on a verbal description of piece orientation.
Fuse box
Match each cable by color from left to right: red to red, blue to blue, and orange to orange.
Later gold door with Peephole Inset
Rotate the door’s picture pieces until they complete the image of a woman. Her head and hair should be toward the left.

Pull the pins in this order: bottom right, top, middle right, then left. Take the Embossed Block.

Embossed Block door
Use the Embossed Block on the lock. Arrange its pieces to match the four artwork clues beside the door, keeping the clue order shown there. This is a visual matching puzzle; the walkthrough’s instructions do not establish a reliable text-only sequence for the images.
Bells
Recover the missing Spirit Warding Bell, then arrange the bells in the order indicated by the plaque. The walkthrough conveys the exact arrangement in a screenshot, so use that image as the reference rather than guessing the order from text.

Move platforms and rotate room sections
Use the Genesis Configuration to move the platform into position while avoiding the spikes. In the room-section puzzle, operate the blue wall panels to rotate sections until they form a crossing route.
Timed door and spiked ceiling
Move one cube to hold the timed door open, then position the second cube so there is room to pass. Later, use the Genesis Configuration to hold a spiked ceiling up while crossing the floor hazard.

Recognize the clues in the surreal house and chase
Repeating-house sequence
Crooked or distorted photographs and repeated rooms signal that the setting has changed. Turn back rather than pressing forward to alter the scene. This clue is described in PlayStation’s pre-release preview and corroborated by the Hellraiser: Revival Wiki puzzle tips, which cover selected pre-release examples rather than a complete campaign walkthrough.
Chatterer pursuit
In the chase described by the preview, look for the corridor where Chatterer does not teleport ahead of Aidan. That is the route to take.
Sliding picture lock
Inspect the desk for its diagram and use that local clue to solve the sliding picture lock. As with the flowers picture, do not apply one room’s diagram as a code for another puzzle.
What the walkthrough can and cannot establish
PlayStation Blog’s preview predates launch and explains intended mechanics and selected examples, while GameSpew’s October 8, 2026 walkthrough covers more of the campaign. The documented examples here do not establish that every optional puzzle is covered or that every solution will remain identical after future patches. When a solution depends on a screenshot, match the in-game picture or relief rather than inferring an exact cube-face layout from text.
