A 91mobiles comparison reports higher benchmark scores for the G35, but those figures are not guaranteed results for every phone. The better choice depends on the complete handset, not the chip name alone.
Helio G25 vs Helio G35 specifications
MediaTek’s product information and comparison materials show two closely related entry-level platforms. The clearest difference is the G35’s higher stated maximum frequencies; several other listed platform capabilities also favor the G35.

CPU: a higher clock, not a different core family
Both chips are specified with eight Arm Cortex-A53 cores. MediaTek lists the G35 at up to 2.3GHz and the G25 at up to 2.0GHz, so the G35’s documented CPU distinction is a higher maximum clock on the same core family. These maximum-frequency figures do not by themselves predict how a particular phone will perform in everyday use.

GPU: the same model with a modestly higher listed frequency
Both platforms name the IMG PowerVR GE8320 GPU. MediaTek lists a maximum of 680MHz for the G35 and 650MHz for the G25, a 30MHz difference. That specification does not establish a particular game’s frame rate or how well a phone sustains performance during a long session.
Display and camera support: platform limits, not handset guarantees
MediaTek’s comparison infographic lists support up to 2400 × 1080 resolution and 25MP at 30fps single-camera capability for the G35, compared with 1600 × 720 and 21MP at 30fps for the G25. Those are chipset capabilities: a phone maker chooses the actual screen, camera sensor, optics, image processing and software. A higher supported maximum does not mean every G35 phone has a sharper panel or better camera.

Shared specifications
MediaTek lists both chips on a 12nm process and with eMMC 5.1 storage. Its comparison infographic also lists the same categories of connectivity for both: Wi-Fi 5, Bluetooth 5.0, multi-GNSS options and FM radio. The handset’s implementation and supported network bands still need to be checked for the exact regional model.

Gaming, heat and battery life
The higher G35 clock specifications and the reported benchmark advantage do not establish sustained gaming performance, thermal behavior or battery endurance in a specific phone. Those outcomes depend on the whole device as well as the workload. MediaTek describes its HyperEngine technology in vendor materials, but marketing claims are not independent tests and do not guarantee smooth gameplay. A processor specification comparison cannot substitute for evidence about the exact handset.
Which chip should you choose?
If two otherwise comparable phones are under consideration, the G35 has the stronger specification case: its listed CPU and GPU maximum frequencies are higher, and MediaTek lists higher maximum display and camera capabilities. But if the phones differ in more consequential ways, the SoC alone should not decide the purchase.

- Check the exact display resolution and panel quality rather than relying on the platform’s supported maximum.
- Compare the phone’s camera sensor, optics and software, not just the chipset’s megapixel capability.
- Check RAM, storage capacity, battery, software version and update support.
- Confirm the exact regional model, supported network bands, price and availability.
- Look for tests of the specific handset if gaming, heat or battery life is important to you.
MediaTek’s specifications establish platform capabilities; they do not establish current software support, sales, typical ownership experience or overall phone quality. A well-balanced G25 handset can be a better buy than a poorly matched G35 handset.
