Hearth and Hamlet’s current Steam listing calls for 8 GB of RAM and a GTX 650 or Radeon HD 7770–class graphics card at minimum; its recommended tier raises RAM to 16 GB and names a GTX 750 Ti or Radeon R7 260X. Those specifications are compatibility reference points, not an FPS promise: the official sources do not publish tested frame rates, resolutions, or graphics settings.
Hearth and Hamlet system requirements
The Steam store listing gives separate requirements for Windows and SteamOS/Linux. The specifications below reflect the listing checked on October 4, 2026; confirm the live listing if you are reading this later, since requirements can change.

Check Hearth and Hamlet’s Steam store listing for the current requirements. Steam lists DirectX 11 and a compatible sound card for Windows; it does not separately state DirectX under Linux.
How to tell whether your PC meets the requirements
Compare your computer with the row for the operating system you intend to use. Check all five essentials—operating system, processor, installed RAM, graphics card and its VRAM, and free storage—rather than relying on one component alone. On Windows, check DirectX 11 support as well.
#1 Best Overall
- GROW a humble Hamlet into a bustling town.
- BUILD YOUR VILLAGE: Hamlet features irregular shaped tiles that connect together without a grid to form a village that is completely different every time.
- TILE PLACEMNENT organically creates interconnecting paths that the villagers use to transport resources across the village. This leads players to construct boards where no two games will ever feel the same.
- PROVIDE FOR THE VILLAGE: Since the buildings are communal, this also creates a fluid economy, where players are always working hard to provide the village with the resources that are most needed.
- EASY TO LEARN while providing a lot of depth, medium weight competitive village builder, irregular tile shapes, organic village growth.
- Windows: Check your Windows version and installed memory in Settings, then identify the processor and graphics card in Task Manager’s Performance tab or System Information. Compare your exact GPU model with the listed examples.
- Linux or SteamOS: Use the SteamOS/Linux row, not the Windows row. The listing names Ubuntu 20.04 or newer / SteamOS and provides its own CPU, RAM, GPU, and storage requirements.
- Graphics memory: Both tiers name graphics-card examples with 2 GB of VRAM. The recommended GPU examples are different models, but the listed VRAM capacity is not higher.
- Storage: The listed requirement is 1 GB of available storage. Make sure that amount is free on the drive where you plan to install the game.
A listed GPU is a useful comparison point, not a universal performance benchmark for every laptop, driver, or system configuration. If your graphics card is an integrated GPU or a different model, the listing does not establish an exact equivalent or guarantee how well it will run.
What performance should you expect?
The official requirements identify minimum and recommended hardware classes, but they do not specify an expected frame rate. The reviewed Steam listing and developer patch notes do not give a tested FPS figure, test resolution, graphics preset, or late-game performance result. That means meeting minimum requirements does not establish a particular level of smoothness, and meeting recommended requirements does not guarantee a specific frame rate.

- Hamlet is a medium weight competitive village builder where players are communally turning their hamlet into a bustling little town, by completing the construction of the church.
- Hamlet features irregular shaped tiles that connect together without a grid to form a village that is completely different every time.
- The tile placement organically creates interconnecting paths that the villagers use to access buildings.
- Distance between buildings matters, as resources need to be transported from one building to another. This leads players to construct boards where no two games will ever feel the same.
- Since the buildings are communal, this also creates a fluid economy, where players need to adapt to the emergent needs of their Hamlet.
Why 16 GB RAM is now recommended
In Patch 1.0.06, dated August 28, 2026, the developer said it had raised the recommended Steam RAM requirement from 8 GB to 16 GB. It also said, “8GB can still work flawlessly, but leaves little room for multitasking.” This is the developer’s general guidance, not a guarantee for every PC or workload. The current store listing still gives 8 GB as the minimum.
What the VRAM optimization does—and does not—tell you
In Patch 1.0.07, dated September 5, 2026, the developer reported that changes had cut VRAM usage by about 1.1 GB and said the change should improve stability, especially on lower-spec hardware. This is a developer-reported optimization, not an independent benchmark; it does not establish a frame-rate increase or a particular result for an individual graphics card. Read the developer’s Steam Community patch notes.

Should you upgrade RAM?
If your PC has 8 GB, moving to 16 GB is an option for reaching the listing’s recommended memory amount—not a proven way to increase FPS or fix graphics-related instability. Before buying memory, check that your PC supports an upgrade, what memory type it uses, how many slots are available, and the maximum capacity it supports. The patch-note guidance suggests 8 GB may leave less room for multitasking, but it does not show that adding RAM alone improves game performance.
