Hearth and Hamlet is listed as single-player on Steam, and its current Steam Deck compatibility label is Playable—not Verified. Save-file details are less settled: the developer has announced backup saves and corruption safeguards, but no official full-release save path or promise that demo saves transfer has been established.
Does Hearth and Hamlet support multiplayer?
No multiplayer or co-op mode is listed on the official Steam store page, which identifies the game as single-player. Treat it as a single-player game unless the developer updates its feature listing.

Does Hearth and Hamlet work on Steam Deck?
Steam currently labels Hearth and Hamlet Playable on Steam Deck. That is distinct from the stronger Verified label; it does not establish flawless performance or any particular control experience. Check the store page for the current compatibility status, since Steam’s listing can change.

Where are Hearth and Hamlet save files?
The developer has not published a confirmed full-release save-file path in the available official material. A community guide offers possible locations, but says they were inferred from Steam Cloud configuration parsing rather than confirmed by the developer. The paths are leads only and may change:
#1 Best Overall
- GROW a humble Hamlet into a bustling town.
- BUILD YOUR VILLAGE: Hamlet features irregular shaped tiles that connect together without a grid to form a village that is completely different every time.
- TILE PLACEMNENT organically creates interconnecting paths that the villagers use to transport resources across the village. This leads players to construct boards where no two games will ever feel the same.
- PROVIDE FOR THE VILLAGE: Since the buildings are communal, this also creates a fluid economy, where players are always working hard to provide the village with the resources that are most needed.
- EASY TO LEARN while providing a lot of depth, medium weight competitive village builder, irregular tile shapes, organic village growth.
- Windows:
%USERPROFILE%AppDataRoamingGodotapp_userdataHearth and Hamlet - Linux:
$XDG_DATA_HOME/godot/app_userdata/Hearth and Hamlet, or the common default~/.local/share/godot/app_userdata/Hearth and Hamlet
The community guide also notes a different Windows path circulating elsewhere, likewise unconfirmed. Because these claims conflict, do not assume any listed location is the correct current full-release folder. See the community save guide for its caveats.
Do demo saves transfer to the full game?
That has not been confirmed. In the developer’s Steam Community v1.0.46 demo patch notes, Phorust Studios said backend changes meant “older save files are no longer compatible.” This warning concerns older demo saves; it does not answer whether a save from a later demo build transfers into the full release. Do not rely on transfer unless the developer confirms it.
Rank #2
- Hamlet is a medium weight competitive village builder where players are communally turning their hamlet into a bustling little town, by completing the construction of the church.
- Hamlet features irregular shaped tiles that connect together without a grid to form a village that is completely different every time.
- The tile placement organically creates interconnecting paths that the villagers use to access buildings.
- Distance between buildings matters, as resources need to be transported from one building to another. This leads players to construct boards where no two games will ever feel the same.
- Since the buildings are communal, this also creates a fluid economy, where players need to adapt to the emergent needs of their Hamlet.
Does Hearth and Hamlet have cloud saves?
A community guide reports Steam Cloud configuration details based on SteamDB parsing, but the official Steam listing does not document cloud saves. Treat that report as secondary information, not an official guarantee of cloud-save availability or behavior.
What is known about save backups and corruption?
A developer announcement says the save system was redesigned “to include backup saves and safeguards, making them more resilient to corruption from events such as power failures.” This describes the announced design; it is not a guarantee that every damaged save can be recovered, and the excerpt does not give a recovery procedure. For cautious manual file handling, close the game before copying or changing files, keep a separate backup, and verify that a restored save works before deleting any copies. These are general precautions, not developer-validated recovery steps. Find the announcement on the game’s official Steam Community channel.
