Grand Theft Auto VI is scheduled to launch on November 19, 2026 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Pre-orders opened on June 25, 2026. The Standard Edition costs $79.99, while the Ultimate Edition costs $99.99 on the official PlayStation and Xbox listings. Eligible digital pre-orders and purchases include the Vintage Vice City Pack and one month of GTA+, subject to platform-specific redemption rules. The physical Standard Edition is a code-in-box product with no game disc.

The purchase window is already open, but the important dates differ depending on whether you buy digitally or physically. Digital players can preload from November 12. Physical code-in-box copies are also expected to be available for shipping or pickup from November 12 so buyers can begin downloading before launch.

There are two listed editions. Both contain the base game and the pre-order bonus package when the purchase meets Rockstar’s eligibility terms. The extra $20 for Ultimate buys additional in-game content rather than a different launch date or a separate platform.

Standard Edition: the straightforward choice
Standard is the lowest-cost way to get the game and the launch bonuses. Choose it if you mainly want the core campaign and online access, do not care about the Ultimate-only items, or prefer to keep the physical purchase at the lower price. A Standard buyer can later purchase the Ultimate Edition Upgrade through PlayStation or Microsoft after redeeming the digital download code.
Ultimate Edition: what the extra $20 buys
Ultimate adds the separately listed upgrade content: premium vehicles and weapons, apparel, additional shops, salons and tattoo parlors, plus story-related material described on Rockstar’s listing. The available data does not assign a cash value to those items or establish that they affect progression, so the $20 premium is a choice about how much you value those extras, not a confirmed gameplay advantage.
What is included in the GTA 6 pre-order bonus?
Rockstar says eligible digital pre-orders and purchases made before November 20, 2026 include the Vintage Vice City Pack and one month of GTA+. The support description identifies the pack’s contents as:

The bonus is tied to eligibility, platform account and redemption conditions. It should not be treated as an automatic benefit for every physical purchase: confirm the retailer’s listing says the code includes the bonus pack, and redeem the code on the same platform account you intend to use.
GTA+ redemption rules on PlayStation
The PlayStation listing says the included month must be claimed by March 31, 2027. It is limited to the account used to buy the game. After the included month, the subscription continues at its regular monthly price until canceled, so check the renewal setting if you do not want an ongoing charge.
GTA+ redemption rules on Xbox
Xbox states that the month must be redeemed within 180 days after the pre-order. It is limited to one redemption per platform account and is unavailable to child accounts restricted from age-rated content. The practical deadline therefore depends on the date of your order, not only on launch day.

Digital purchase checklist
- Open the official PlayStation Store or Xbox Store on the account that will play the game.
- Confirm the platform says PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X|S; no last-generation edition is listed in the supplied release information.
- Compare the edition name, price, bonus description and expected preload date.
- Check that the account’s country matches the store region and that any GTA+ offer is shown as eligible.
- Complete the purchase and keep the receipt or order number for support requests.
Physical purchase checklist
- Choose a retailer that explicitly lists the physical Standard Edition for your country and console.
- Verify that the box contains a download code and that the code region matches your platform account.
- Check whether the listing says delivery or pickup from November 12, 2026; this is the stated availability date, not a guarantee of arrival in every location.
- Read the retailer’s cancellation, delivery and code-redemption terms before paying.
- Keep the order confirmation, seller name and tracking information until the code has been redeemed and the game launches.
Does the physical GTA 6 copy include a disc?
No. The physical Standard Edition is a code-in-box product. Rockstar’s release statement says the box contains a download code for the game and bonus pack and is available from November 12 to support pre-loading. There is no game disc to install or play from.
That means a physical purchase still requires an internet connection, enough storage for the download and a platform account able to redeem the code. The box provides a physical product and retailer delivery or pickup, but it does not provide an offline disc installation. If you are buying a gift, make sure the recipient uses the same console family and a compatible account region.
Check your country and platform account before ordering
Rockstar says code redemption depends on the region associated with the platform account and recommends buying from a retailer in the same country as that account. A mismatch can prevent activation even when the box and console are genuine.

- Use a store and retailer serving the country set on your PlayStation Network or Xbox account.
- Do not assume a cheaper imported code will activate in your region.
- Confirm the console family: PlayStation 5 codes are not interchangeable with Xbox codes.
- For a child account, check age-rating restrictions before relying on the GTA+ month; Xbox specifically excludes restricted child accounts from that offer.
- For a shared console, redeem the game on the account that will own the license and receive account-limited benefits.
How to cancel or request a refund
There is no single worldwide refund period stated for every GTA 6 pre-order. The seller that accepted payment handles the transaction, and the applicable rules can vary by country, payment method and whether a digital code has been redeemed.

PlayStation Store or Xbox Store purchase
- Sign in to the PlayStation or Xbox account that placed the order.
- Open the platform’s purchase history or order support area.
- Select the GTA 6 transaction and follow the platform’s cancellation or refund request process.
- Include the order number, purchase date and whether the game or code has been downloaded or redeemed.
- Wait for the platform’s decision under the policy that applies to your country and transaction.
Do not assume that canceling a pre-load automatically produces a refund, or that an unused download code has the same treatment as a redeemed one.
Rockstar Store physical order
Rockstar’s cancellation guidance directs physical-order buyers to Xsolla for the pre-order cancellation process. Use the order confirmation to identify the transaction and follow the support route supplied with that order.
Any other retailer
Contact the retailer that took the payment. Rockstar’s support guidance states that physical pre-order cancellations are handled by the retailer where the game was purchased. The retailer also controls delivery questions, stock substitutions and any refund decision allowed by its terms and local law.

Is GTA 6 Ultimate worth the extra $20?
For a buyer who wants only the game, Standard is the safer value because it includes the same base release and pre-order bonus. Ultimate becomes easier to justify when you already know you will use the premium vehicles, weapons, clothing, properties and other listed additions, or when you would otherwise buy the Ultimate Edition Upgrade later.

- Powerful Pass-Through Charging: Supports up to 85W pass-through charging so you can power up your laptop while you use the hub. Note: Pass-through charging requires a charger (not included). Note: To achieve full power for iPad, we recommend using a 45W wall charger.

| Your priority | More suitable choice | Reason |
|---|---|---|
| Lowest upfront cost and the core game | Standard | It is $20 cheaper and includes the launch bonus package when eligible. |
| You want every listed premium item immediately | Ultimate | The upgrade content is bundled rather than purchased separately later. |
| Unsure about the premium content | Standard | You retain an upgrade path through PlayStation or Microsoft after redeeming the digital code. |
| Buying physical for collection or gifting | Standard physical, after checking the listing | The physical product is code-in-box, so the decision is about packaging and retailer handling, not a disc. |
The available information does not establish the resale value of either edition, the size of the story additions or whether the premium items materially change gameplay. Treat those as personal-value questions rather than guaranteed performance benefits.
Preload, launch and common problems
The download does not start
Check that you bought the current-generation listing, that the console is connected to the internet and that the account owns the order. Digital preload is listed for November 12; before that date, a download button may not appear.
A physical code will not redeem
Stop entering the code repeatedly. Confirm the console family and account country, then compare the code region with the retailer’s listing. If they match, contact the retailer first because it supplied the product; retain photos of the box and the receipt.

The GTA+ month is missing
Verify the platform deadline and account limitation. PlayStation requires claiming it by March 31, 2027, while Xbox requires redemption within 180 days after pre-order and allows one redemption per platform account. Child-account restrictions can block the Xbox offer.
The price at checkout is different
Check whether local tax, currency conversion or a regional price has been added. The $79.99 and $99.99 figures are the listed United States prices cited for PlayStation and Xbox, not a promise of the final amount in every country.
Quick Recap
Final pre-order checklist
- Confirm the November 19, 2026 launch date and November 12 preload or physical-availability date.
- Choose Standard at $79.99 or Ultimate at $99.99 based on the content you actually want.
- Verify that the Vintage Vice City Pack and GTA+ offer appear for your purchase type.
- Remember that physical Standard is a download code in a box, not a disc.
- Match retailer country, platform and account region before paying.
- Save the receipt and identify the correct seller for any cancellation or refund request.
- For GTA+, note the PlayStation March 31, 2027 claim deadline or Xbox 180-day redemption rule, then cancel before the regular subscription price begins if you do not want renewal.
