For GTA 6, the upgrade worth buying depends on what your setup is missing—not on a premium accessory being required. Rockstar lists the game for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, with a November 19, 2026 release date, and describes it as “Plays Best On” PS5. That is Rockstar’s platform positioning, not evidence that Xbox is unsupported or that you need a particular TV, controller or headset.
Start with the console you own
Rockstar’s current game page lists PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Based on that listing, PS4 and Xbox One are not among the supported platforms. The official materials cited here do not confirm a PC version, PC requirements, a resolution mode or a frame-rate target, so don’t buy a PC-only peripheral or a display on the assumption that a particular PC feature will be available.

Rockstar’s “Plays Best On” label names PS5. Sony’s Mary Yee, Senior Vice President of Marketing at Sony Interactive Entertainment, said in a PlayStation.Blog post on June 24, 2026: “Grand Theft Auto VI will play best on PS5 by taking advantage of PS5’s immersive features to deliver a deeply engaging single-player experience when it launches on November 19.” Treat this as Sony’s official platform statement, not an independent comparison of the PS5 and Xbox versions.

A display is the biggest visual change you can make to your setup, but the sources available do not establish that GTA 6 requires OLED, 4K or any specific display capability. Choose based on your room, viewing distance, console connections and budget—not an unconfirmed game specification.

| Option | Best fit | What to weigh | What is not established |
|---|---|---|---|
| LG C5 4K OLED TV | A living-room setup where a larger screen and TV form factor suit your seating distance. | Room lighting, screen size, viewing distance, console inputs and current price. | No GTA 6-specific 4K or OLED requirement is confirmed in the official game materials reviewed. TechRadar’s recommendation is editorial, not a game-specific test. |
| Alienware AW3225QF 32-inch 4K QD-OLED gaming monitor | A desk setup where a 32-inch monitor fits better than a television. | Desk space, viewing distance, room lighting, console connectivity and current price. | The game’s output resolution and frame-rate targets are not confirmed in the cited official materials. TechRadar names it as a console option; that is not a GTA 6 performance finding. |
If your current screen already suits your room and console, there is no evidence here that replacing it is necessary to play or fully experience the game. OLED and 4K are preferences, not confirmed GTA 6 requirements.
Do you need a premium controller?
On PS5, the standard DualSense already has game-specific feature claims from PlayStation. Its official post says GTA 6 uses responsive haptics and adaptive triggers, and also mentions the controller’s integrated speaker. PlayStation describes the haptics as responsive vibrations and the adaptive triggers as providing dynamic resistance. These are platform-holder descriptions, not independent measurements.

The Sony DualSense Edge is an optional premium-control choice, not a confirmed way to unlock extra GTA 6 features. The cited PlayStation description refers to DualSense features generally; it does not identify an Edge-exclusive GTA 6 function. Consider it if its controls and ergonomics suit you, rather than buying it because the game supposedly requires it.
For Xbox, TechRadar names the ASUS ROG Raikiri II as a controller option. That recommendation does not establish game-specific advantages or confirm third-party controller support details in Rockstar’s materials. Before buying, check that the exact model and version are compatible with your Xbox console, and compare its layout and controls with the controller you already use.

Is a headset a worthwhile upgrade?
TechRadar names the Audeze Maxwell 2 as a headset candidate, with variants aimed at PlayStation and Xbox. Match the headset variant to your console and verify compatibility for the exact product before purchase. Comfort, fit and your preferred sound matter more to this decision than claims about untested GTA 6 performance.
PlayStation separately describes Tempest 3D AudioTech as a PS5 audio feature. That platform-level description is not an independent test of the Maxwell 2 in GTA 6, and it does not establish that this headset is required to use the game’s audio features.
