For PC players, Forza Motorsport is the clear practical winner. It has a native Windows release, a Steam version, active online features, modern graphics settings and explicit force-feedback wheel support. Gran Turismo Sport is a PlayStation 4 exclusive, and its online services ended on January 31, 2024. You can still play its offline content on PS4, but it is not a current PC alternative.
Gran Turismo Sport vs Forza Motorsport on PC: the short answer
The comparison is unequal once the platform is PC. Forza Motorsport (the modern title released on Steam on October 9, 2023) is built to run on Windows and is sold through Steam. Gran Turismo Sport was released as a PlayStation 4-exclusive game; there is no native Windows edition. Sony’s service notice also ended its online services at 06:00 UTC on January 31, 2024.

If you already own a PS4 and want a primarily offline circuit racer, Gran Turismo Sport remains usable in that limited context. If you are buying for a Windows computer, Forza Motorsport is the only supported choice between these two.

What PS4 exclusivity means
A PC owner cannot install Gran Turismo Sport through Steam or a Windows launcher. A PS4 copy and PS4 hardware are required for the supported version. A PC wheel or graphics card does not change that platform requirement; accessories cannot turn the PS4 software into a Windows application.
That distinction matters more than small differences in car lists or handling preferences. A game that cannot run on the device you own is not a practical alternative, regardless of how much you might prefer its presentation or driving feel.
What remains playable after the shutdown
Sony’s service notice states that Gran Turismo Sport’s online services ended on January 31, 2024, at 06:00 UTC. The same notice says the offline portions remain playable, including purchased add-ons. You can therefore use the installed PS4 game for its offline modes, but online competition and other services that depended on the servers are no longer available.

What Forza Motorsport offers on a Windows PC
Forza Motorsport has a native Windows release and a Steam listing dated October 9, 2023. That listing describes online player-versus-player racing, cross-platform multiplayer and continuing updates, giving the PC version a current multiplayer path that Gran Turismo Sport no longer has.

PC-specific display and performance options
The Steam description lists a range of features aimed at modern PC hardware:
- Real-time ray-traced global illumination on track.
- DLSS 2 and FSR 2.2 upscaling options.
- Resolutions up to 4K.
- Ultrawide display support.
- Unlocked frame rates in single-player modes.
- A benchmark mode for checking performance.
These are capabilities of the Windows version, not promises that every computer will run the game at 4K or with ray tracing enabled. Actual settings depend on your processor, graphics card, memory, storage and chosen image-quality options. The benchmark mode is useful for tuning those settings before entering a race.
Simulation features documented by the publisher
Steam’s description calls Forza Motorsport a cutting-edge simulation with photorealistic visuals, real-time on-track ray tracing, new damage and dirt-accumulation systems, and upgraded physics. It also describes powerful assists and a 48-times improvement in tire fidelity. Those are the publisher’s stated features; they should not be read as an independent laboratory verdict that the game is more realistic in every handling situation.
Cars, tracks and race variety
The published counts favor Forza Motorsport in breadth, although the two companies describe their content differently. PlayStation lists Gran Turismo Sport at 17 locations and more than 40 courses. Steam lists Forza Motorsport at more than 500 real-world cars, including modern race cars and more than 100 cars new to Forza Motorsport, plus 30 tracks with multiple layouts.

Why the counts need context
A larger car number does not automatically mean more of the cars you personally want to drive. A player focused on a particular manufacturer, era or racing class should inspect the current in-game catalog before buying. Similarly, a course count can include layouts that share the same venue, while a location count may group several courses together.

The defensible conclusion is narrower: Forza’s listing documents a substantially larger car roster and a modern system for changing weather and time of day. Gran Turismo Sport’s official page documents 17 locations and more than 40 courses. Neither figure alone proves which game has the better track selection for an individual driver.

There is no responsible universal answer from the published material alone. Both games are serious circuit racers, but no controlled, side-by-side handling test is available here that could establish an objective physics winner.
What can be said with confidence
Forza Motorsport advertises upgraded physics, powerful driving assists and a 48-times improvement in tire fidelity. It also supports force-feedback wheels on PC, allowing steering weight, surface effects and loss of grip to be communicated through compatible hardware. Gran Turismo Sport was designed for PS4 and can still be judged by players using that console, but its online closure and lack of a PC build limit how relevant it is to a Windows buyer.
Why driving feel remains subjective
“Better physics” can mean different things: tire behavior at the limit, braking consistency, curb response, collision behavior, assists, controller filtering or the quality of force-feedback effects. A player who prefers a stable car with strong assists may reach a different conclusion from a wheel user who wants subtle slip-angle information. Reviews and personal testing can add useful perspective, but they should be labeled as subjective judgments rather than presented as measured fact.
For a PC purchase decision, the practical physics question is whether you can use the control method you prefer. Forza’s documented DirectInput and force-feedback support gives wheel users a supported path. Gran Turismo Sport would require a PS4 and compatible console setup.

How to use the requirements
Check the operating-system build first, then compare your processor, graphics card, installed memory and free SSD space with the table. Meeting the minimum specification means the game is within the listed hardware threshold; it does not guarantee a particular resolution, frame rate or ray-tracing setting.
If your system is near minimum, start with the benchmark mode, use a sensible resolution, and adjust image-quality features one at a time. Ray tracing, high-resolution output and ultrawide rendering can increase the workload beyond a basic minimum configuration. Keep the full 130 GB installation requirement available on an SSD rather than assuming a smaller download will be sufficient after updates.

Forza Motorsport’s Steam listing explicitly supports the DirectInput API, layout remapping, force feedback on wheels and Xbox controller rumble. That makes a force-feedback racing wheel for PC a directly relevant accessory for this game. Gran Turismo Sport cannot use that PC setup because the game itself is not a Windows title.

Setting up a supported PC wheel
- Connect the wheel to the computer and install the manufacturer’s current Windows driver or firmware utility, if one is required.
- Confirm in Windows that the wheel, pedals and buttons are detected before launching the game.
- Open Forza Motorsport’s input settings and select the wheel as the active device.
- Use the DirectInput controls to map steering, throttle, brake, clutch and required race functions.
- Enable force feedback, then adjust its strength and filtering gradually so the wheel is informative without clipping or oscillating.
- Run a practice session or benchmark, check that steering centers correctly and verify that pedal travel reaches both zero and full input.
- Save the layout after testing; keep a controller profile available if a particular car or menu is easier to operate with one.
The exact feel depends on the wheel model, driver, mounting, game settings and car. Force-feedback support means the game can communicate through a compatible wheel; it does not make every wheel equally detailed or guarantee identical settings across devices.

Online multiplayer and long-term value
Gran Turismo Sport
Gran Turismo Sport’s online services ended at the published January 31, 2024 deadline. Competitive online racing and other server-dependent functions should therefore not be part of a new purchase decision. Its remaining value is as an offline PS4 game, including purchased add-ons according to Sony’s notice.
Forza Motorsport
Forza’s current Steam listing advertises online PvP, cross-platform multiplayer and continuing updates. Those statements establish an active online offering in the product description, although no online service is guaranteed forever. A buyer who wants ranked or organized racing should still check the game’s current service status and community activity before committing to a long-term league.
For PC users, the distinction is decisive: Forza provides a supported route into online multiplayer from Windows, while Gran Turismo Sport does not provide a supported PC route or an active online service.

Which game should different PC players choose?
Choose Forza Motorsport if you use Windows
- You want to install and play locally on a PC.
- You need current online PvP or cross-platform multiplayer.
- You want modern resolution, ultrawide, upscaling and ray-tracing options.
- You plan to use a DirectInput force-feedback wheel.
- You value a documented roster of more than 500 cars and dynamic weather and time-of-day systems.
Consider Gran Turismo Sport only if you already have a PS4
- You specifically want its offline content and are comfortable with PS4 hardware.
- You accept that online services ended in January 2024.
- You are not looking for a native Windows version, PC graphics settings or PC wheel integration.
Do not choose by physics claims alone
If your decision comes down to handling, try each game with the same type of input where possible and define what “better” means to you: controller accessibility, wheel detail, braking feel, assists or behavior at the limit. The available evidence supports a clear platform and service verdict, not an objective ranking of every aspect of the physics engines.
A practical buying checklist
- Confirm the platform: if your only gaming machine is a Windows PC, remove Gran Turismo Sport from the shortlist.
- Decide whether online racing matters: Gran Turismo Sport’s online service is closed; Forza’s listing advertises current multiplayer features.
- Check your hardware: compare your Windows version, CPU, GPU, RAM and SSD space with Steam’s requirements.
