- Tap the download control to save the selected files to the app.
GoPro documents this workflow for HERO13, including wireless saving to Quik. Screen labels and behavior can vary by camera, app version, and phone, so use your model’s instructions if the controls do not match. Transfer files to a phone with a cable
GoPro’s HERO10 manual recommends a wired connection as a faster and more reliable option than wireless transfer, without stating a measured speed. Connect the camera and phone with a compatible data cable or adapter, open Quik, and follow the on-screen instructions. The required connection depends on the phone’s port:
- Android or USB-C iPhone: GoPro lists USB-C to USB-C.
- Lightning iPhone: GoPro lists a USB-A to USB-C cable and Apple’s Lightning to USB Camera Adapter.

Copy camera files to a computer
- Turn off the camera and remove its microSD card.
- Insert the card into a compatible SD card reader or adapter.
- Connect the reader to the computer and open the card’s files.
- Copy the photos and videos to a folder on the computer.
GoPro’s HERO12 instructions describe this card-reader method. It avoids relying on a phone as an intermediary; choose a reader that fits both the card and the computer’s available ports. GoPro HERO12 Black manual
Is Quik Desktop still available for computer transfers?
Do not treat older instructions to import with Quik Desktop as the current general method. On November 7, 2024, GoPro announced it was discontinuing Quik Desktop applications; it said the Mac version would be removed from the App Store on December 31, 2024, and that a Windows version would not be released. Back up GoPro files to the cloud
The HERO10 manual describes automatic cloud upload through Quik as a GoPro subscription feature and says the camera should be connected to power. It also says original files remain on the camera after backup, so cloud upload is not the same as removing or moving the originals.
