Google’s UGC Fresh Data Program is an application-based pipeline for approved platforms that publish trending user-generated content (UGC). It is not a general-purpose way for a website to request indexing: platforms must meet Google’s published eligibility criteria, and neither acceptance nor appearance in Search is guaranteed.
What the UGC Fresh Data Program is—and is not
Google Search Central describes the program as a specialized pipeline designed exclusively for trending UGC. It is independent of both the Google Indexing API and traditional organic crawling for general web content. Google also says that participation does not guarantee that submitted content will appear in Search. Google Search Central’s program documentation was last updated October 8, 2026.

In this context, UGC is digital material hosted and distributed by an online platform or aggregator but created entirely by independent users. The eligibility criteria are aimed at platforms—not simply an individual page or a publisher seeking faster indexing.
Who may be eligible
Google’s public criteria describe the capabilities and content of a platform. They do not establish numeric thresholds for audience size, post volume, or traffic.

- UGC is the platform’s primary focus: it primarily hosts user-created material such as social posts or forum discussions. Content should have dedicated pages with stable URLs, rather than existing only in profiles or feeds.
- Substantial activity and audience: Google calls for a high volume of UGC and a significant user base, but publishes no minimum figures.
- Public pages and creator attribution: content must be accessible to both users and Googlebot without a login or paywall, and attributable to a creator with a public profile.
- Technical capability: the platform must be able to use secure OAuth 2.0 API authentication and construct strictly validated JSON-LD payloads. Valid schema.org structured data should already be in use—or be ready to implement—on relevant URLs. Google’s examples include
SocialMediaPostingandDiscussionForumPostingwithinteractionStatisticsub-fields. - Moderation: the platform must not publish illegal content and must have active content moderation, including a way for users to report content.
- Fresh submissions and engagement updates: Google says content should be sent as fresh as possible, ideally within minutes. Platforms must also be able to submit regular engagement-counter updates within 72 hours of content creation.
Meeting the published criteria does not mean a platform will be accepted. Google does not publish further selection thresholds or detailed technical integration instructions on the public eligibility page.
How to express interest and what happens next
- Review the criteria: confirm that the platform’s UGC, page structure, public access, attribution, moderation, and technical capabilities align with Google’s published requirements.
- Submit the interest form: use the application form linked from Google’s program page. Applying is not a promise of acceptance.
- Wait for an application status: Google says it will respond within 6–8 weeks. This is its stated response window, not a guaranteed acceptance or integration-completion date.
- Follow onboarding if selected: Google says selected platforms receive detailed technical integration documentation and onboarding instructions. The public page does not provide the API endpoints or full payload specifications, so those details should not be assumed in advance.
Does the program get content indexed?
No. The program gives eligible, approved platforms a specialized route for sending trending UGC and interaction signals for consideration across Search features. It does not guarantee indexing, ranking, traffic, or even that content will appear in Search. Applying also does not guarantee acceptance.

What to use for ordinary recrawling
If you manage a site and want Google to recrawl ordinary pages, use the standard route rather than treating this UGC program as an indexing shortcut:
- A few URLs you manage: request a recrawl through URL Inspection in Search Console.
- Many URLs: submit a sitemap to help Google discover them.
Google’s recrawl guidance says a request does not guarantee immediate or eventual inclusion in Search. Crawling can take days to weeks, and repeatedly submitting the same URL through URL Inspection does not make it crawl faster.
