Googlebooks, Glasses and Gadgets Galore: What SyrupCast Covers

SyrupCast’s device roundup spans a Googlebook laptop, Bell phone and three very different smart-glasses designs. Here’s what the episode page and separate early hands-ons establish.

This SyrupCast episode is a roundup of recently handled technology, not a finished set of product reviews. MobileSyrup’s October 9, 2026 episode page names the ASUS Googlebook 14, Bell Ahlo 2, three smart-glasses products and a discussion of discontinued Google products. Its accompanying device coverage describes early impressions, so the available details are useful context—not a verdict on long-term performance or value.

What is in the SyrupCast episode?

MobileSyrup editors-in-chief Jon Lamont and devices editor Dean Daley discuss devices they have recently handled. The episode description covers the ASUS Googlebook 14 laptop, Bell Ahlo 2 phone, MemoMind One, Snap Specs and Xreal Aura smart glasses, as well as favourite defunct Google products. It does not name the discontinued products in the published description.

The episode audio was not accessible for this account, so the product details below come from MobileSyrup’s separate articles, not claims about what the hosts said on air. The episode page frames the laptop and phone coverage as early thoughts after roughly a week of use.

Is the ASUS Googlebook 14 worth considering?

MobileSyrup’s October 5, 2026 first-impressions article presents the ASUS Googlebook 14 as a GooglebookOS laptop combining Android and ChromeOS elements with Gemini features. Its hardware sounds premium; the open question is whether its software supports the desktop apps a buyer relies on.

  • Six-speaker audio and a six-sensor haptic touchpad
  • Intel Core Ultra 5 or Core Ultra 7 Series 3 processors
  • Up to 16GB of RAM and 512GB SSD storage

Software questions remain

The early article’s author praised the hardware but reported difficulty installing desktop Linux Firefox and found that the available Photoshop version was the Android app. Those examples matter if you need conventional desktop software; they do not establish that every desktop app is incompatible. The author had spent enough time to set up and explore the laptop, but said a full review was still to come. See MobileSyrup’s first impressions of the ASUS Googlebook 14.

How do the smart glasses differ?

These products take different approaches to displays, computing and cameras. The reported prices and availability below are from MobileSyrup articles published in October 2026; they are not confirmation of current stock or offers. The articles are not a common side-by-side test, so their specifications and brief demonstrations should not be treated as directly comparable performance results.

Product Design and interaction Reported price and Canadian availability
MemoMind One Camera-free AI glasses with dual micro-LED displays, open-ear speakers, navigation, notifications and real-time translation. Controls are limited to a single button, and charging uses a proprietary adapter. Starting at US$399 (C$567) in MobileSyrup’s October 8, 2026 hands-on article; Canadian availability is not stated.
Snap Specs Standalone spatial AR glasses with full-colour waveguide displays and hand tracking. MobileSyrup reported brief translation and AR demonstrations. US$2,195 (C$3,107) in MobileSyrup’s October 5, 2026 report; Canadian availability was unknown at publication.
Xreal Aura Optical see-through glasses tethered to a compute puck. The October 7, 2026 article describes Android XR, Google Play app support, hand tracking, Bose audio and a 70-degree field of view. C$1,829 for 12GB RAM/256GB storage or C$2,149 for 16GB/512GB, according to MobileSyrup on October 7, 2026. No official release date had been scheduled at publication.

MemoMind One: no camera, but a charging trade-off

MemoMind One takes a camera-free approach to AI glasses, avoiding the recording-camera concerns that can arise with camera-equipped models. MobileSyrup’s October 8 hands-on article reports a 46.6g weight, adjustable display position, a triple-microphone array and open-ear stereo speakers tuned with Harman technology. The article describes navigation, notifications and real-time translation, alongside the single-button controls and proprietary charging dongle. These are reported hands-on observations, not independent lab results. Read MobileSyrup’s MemoMind One hands-on.

Snap Specs: a short demonstration, not a buying recommendation

Dean Daley tried Snap Specs for approximately 25 minutes at Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Summit 2026, according to MobileSyrup’s October 5 report. That brief session covered standalone processing, full-colour waveguide displays, hand tracking and short translation and AR demonstrations. The reported price and unknown Canadian availability make it especially important not to read this as a readily available Canadian consumer option. See MobileSyrup’s Snap Specs report.

Xreal Aura: glasses paired with a compute puck

Xreal Aura is the tethered option in this group: the glasses depend on a separate compute puck rather than carrying all computing in the frame. MobileSyrup reported two Canadian configurations and prices on October 7, 2026, but no official release date had been set then. The article also describes a brain-mapping demonstration that made the puck very hot; it says the app was not aimed at consumers. That is an observation from one demanding demonstration, not a general thermal benchmark. Details are in MobileSyrup’s Xreal Aura coverage.

What is known about the Bell Ahlo 2?

MobileSyrup’s October 7, 2026 early impressions describe the Bell Ahlo 2 as a Bell/Virgin Mobile phone with a 6.9-inch, 120Hz matte Nxtpaper display and Android 16. Reported specifications include a MediaTek Dimensity 7300 processor, 8GB RAM, 128GB storage expandable by microSD to 2TB, and a 5,200mAh battery. The article gives a retail price of C$335; carrier financing can change the total cost, so check the applicable plan terms rather than assuming the retail figure is the financed total.

The author speculated that the phone resembles the TCL Nxtpaper 70 Pro because of its appearance and similar specifications, but Bell had not confirmed the underlying TCL model. The article describes only a few days of use and says more testing was needed, particularly for camera performance. It is early coverage, not a completed review. See MobileSyrup’s Bell Ahlo 2 first impressions.

How much should you rely on these impressions?

The episode is best approached as a snapshot of devices the editors had recently handled. The laptop and phone articles are explicitly preliminary, the Snap Specs account is based on about 25 minutes of use, and the glasses reports are separate hands-on pieces rather than a shared test. That leaves important buying questions—such as sustained performance, app compatibility across a broader workflow, battery life and camera quality—unsettled in the cited coverage.

Prices and availability are time-sensitive. The dollar figures above reflect what MobileSyrup reported in October 2026, with currencies and Canadian availability noted where stated; they should not be taken as live quotes. The episode description’s mention of defunct Google products likewise does not identify which products the hosts discuss.

Product prices and availability are accurate as of the date/time indicated and are subject to change. Any price and availability information displayed on Amazon at the time of purchase will apply.
