Yes—the Google TV Streamer Voice Remote works with Chromecast with Google TV. Google lists both devices as compatible. However, the remote’s customizable button and Find My Remote feature are available only when it is used with Google TV Streamer, so cross-compatibility does not give Chromecast owners those features.

What changes between the two remotes?
The newer remote is longer and slightly thinner. Google lists the Chromecast Voice Remote at 122 × 38 × 18 mm and the Google TV Streamer Voice Remote at 137 × 38 × 16 mm. Both use two AAA batteries.
The Streamer remote adds a customizable button and Find My Remote. Google’s comparison identifies those as Google TV Streamer features, not Chromecast with Google TV features. If you use the Streamer remote with a Chromecast, you can control the streaming device, but those Streamer-specific conveniences do not become available on the Chromecast.

The Chromecast Voice Remote has an IR LED for controlling a TV, receiver, or soundbar. Google also documents volume, power, and input controls for supported setups; those controls need to be configured separately from pairing the remote to the streaming device.
How to pair a replacement remote
Google says a replacement Voice Remote can be set up with a Chromecast with Google TV or Google TV Streamer that is already configured. Have two AAA batteries ready.

- Turn on the streaming device and press the button on its back for 5–10 seconds to start Pairing Mode.
- Insert the two AAA batteries into the replacement remote. It will usually pair automatically.
- If it does not pair, follow the directions shown on the TV. You can also hold Back and Home on the remote for three seconds.
For initial Google TV Streamer setup, Google says the remote normally pairs automatically. If the screen asks you to pair it, hold Back and Home until the remote’s light pulses. See Google’s replacement Voice Remote setup instructions and Google TV Streamer setup instructions.

Set up TV, receiver, or soundbar controls separately
Pairing the remote with a Chromecast or Streamer does not by itself establish that its TV or audio controls are configured. Use the on-screen setup to configure volume, power, or input control for a TV, receiver, or soundbar, then check the results. Google’s remote setup guidance covers these controls; it does not guarantee compatibility with every TV or audio model.

Where to get a replacement
Google identifies Google Store as a purchase route for replacement remotes. The cited setup documentation does not establish current price or regional stock, so check the store for availability where you live. If choosing the Google TV Streamer Voice Remote for a Chromecast, keep in mind that its customizable button and Find My Remote feature require Google TV Streamer.
