What changes in Google Play services v26.39?
Google’s Google System Services Release Notes list several updates under v26.39, dated October 5, 2026. The Automotive item concerns manufacturer customization; the other listed changes are tagged for Phone or Auto.

Android Automotive: OEM Design Tokens
Google says the release introduces OEM Design Tokens, allowing manufacturers to consistently customize the color themes of Google apps on Android Automotive. In practical terms, the announced change gives vehicle manufacturers a way to align the appearance of Google apps with a vehicle’s chosen interface colors. Google does not specify which apps, manufacturers, models, or color options are involved.
Phone: Maps-related developer features and attribution
Under Phone / Developer Services, Google lists new features for Google and third-party app developers to support Maps-related processes in their apps. It also says users can view terms and attribution by tapping the info icon beside the Google Maps logo. The entry does not describe the developer features in greater technical detail.

Phone: Find Hub tags and Wallet notifications
The Phone / Security & Privacy entry adds NFC support for accessing Find Hub tag details and settings, or identifying a lost tag, by tapping it with a phone. Google also describes a tag-registration flow that lets users choose categories, rename tags, and configure options such as Left-Behind Reminders during setup.
Separately, the Phone / Wallet entry adds card artwork and payment-network logos to card-tokenization prompt notifications.

Auto: Developer Services bug fixes
Google lists bug fixes for Developer Services-related services under Auto, but does not identify the bugs or explain what the fixes change.

Google labels the OEM Design Tokens item “Android Automotive.” That is not interchangeable with Android Auto: Google’s Android for Cars documentation treats Android Auto and Android Automotive OS as distinct platforms. The v26.39 entry does not say that OEM Design Tokens are an Android Auto feature.

The release notes describe system-service updates across a range of device categories, including Android Auto-enabled devices and cars with Android Automotive OS or Google built-in. For this specific update, however, use the platform tag Google gives the individual item rather than assuming every category receives it.

Not necessarily. The release notes establish that Google lists the changes in v26.39, but they do not identify supported vehicle makes or models, eligible phone models, country availability, or a rollout schedule. A changelog entry alone does not confirm that a feature has reached a particular device. Google also notes on its release-notes page that some features may be experimental or available only to certain users.
