For a current starting point, try one of the decks appearing in RoyaleAPI’s October 7, 2026 Spooky Chess snapshot—but don’t treat its highest win rate as a guaranteed winner. The sample is a single day, and the deck with the top listed rate has far fewer uses than some alternatives. If you prefer a guide-backed list, choose between splash-heavy control and a Witch–Giant Skeleton push, then confirm every card is legal in the event’s live deck picker.
What the October 2026 Spooky Chess data says
Spooky Chess runs from October 5–19, 2026. Supercell describes its objective as: “Defeat your opponent’s wall of troops and towers and take down their King while defending yours.” The league offers up to two badges: one for completing the league road and another for finishing in the leaderboard’s top 10,000. Supercell’s seasonal announcement sets out those event details.

RoyaleAPI’s Spooky Chess page displayed 80,082 battles for its selected one-day window when accessed October 7. These are snapshot results, not season-long deck rankings; the mode and card balance can change during the event. Check the live Spooky Chess data before settling on a list.

Which deck style should you choose?
Spooky Chess puts many troops and towers on the board at once. TigerJek describes Guards protecting towers and recurring Dark Prince pressure, so splash damage and a way to keep pressure off your side are sensible priorities. Those mechanics are described in a third-party guide; check the event rules and board in the client in case they change. TigerJek’s Spooky Chess guide also discusses using small spells to chip towers while managing troops.
Splash-heavy control: Evo Executioner, Hero Bowler and Ronin
TigerJek recommends a deck built around Evo Executioner, Hero Bowler and Ronin, with Arrows, Vines, Zap, Skeleton Dragons and Ice Spirit. The guide’s rationale is that splash damage can be valuable against a crowded field. This is the author’s recommendation, not an independently verified ranking. Consider it if your collection supports the core cards and you want multiple answers to groups of troops.

Witch and Giant Skeleton: a heavier push
The same guide offers an Evo Witch, Hero Bowler and Giant Skeleton shell, supported by Arrows, Vines, Evo Zap, Flying Machine and Ice Spirit. It argues that Giant Skeleton’s death bomb can punish groups and that Flying Machine provides ranged support; Skeleton Dragons are suggested as an alternative. Treat both support choices as options to try, not proven upgrades.
Cycle and pressure alternatives
GamingProMax lays out five archetypes with average elixir costs from 3.0 to 3.7: aggressive cycle (3.3), sustained push (3.7), heavy beatdown (3.7), control (3.6) and fast cycle (3.0). These are the publication’s deck categories and listed costs, not measured win-rate tiers. It identifies an Archer Queen, Hog Rider and evolved Skeleton Army build as its cheapest option, at 3.0 average elixir, and an Evo Witch, Furnace and Golden Knight build as a pressure-oriented cycle choice. How to pick a list that fits your matches
- Need to handle groups? Start with a splash-focused guide list, such as Evo Executioner and Hero Bowler, and watch whether it clears the troop buildup without leaving you short of tower pressure.
- Want a durable push? Try the Witch–Giant Skeleton shell if you own its key cards. The guide’s case for it rests on support and death-bomb value, not quantified results.
- Prefer frequent attacks? A lower-cost cycle build can let you return to pressure cards sooner, while the 3.7-cost sustained-push and beatdown archetypes trade that speed for heavier combinations, according to GamingProMax.
- Use your usable collection. A theoretically strong list is not useful if key cards are unavailable or prohibited in the event. Substitute only when you understand what role the missing card played—splash, support, defense or tower damage.
- Check the current tracker and client. One-day rates, use counts and event legality can move; neither a high percentage nor a guide’s pick guarantees a good fit for your matchups.
Check card bans and save the event deck
TigerJek lists Miner, Earthquake, Lightning, Rocket, Fireball, Poison, Void, Royal Recruits and Goblin Drill as banned. A community result from around launch suggested Poison’s status changed shortly afterward, so do not rely on a static ban list: use the live card picker as the final check and adjust the deck before queueing.
To keep your event list separate, Supercell Support says players can save up to 10 decks per mode, copy a deck from the Decks view, switch modes through Battle Hub and paste it into a slot. Open the Clash Royale Decks view, copy or build your chosen list, switch to Spooky Chess through Battle Hub, and paste it into an available deck slot. Select that event deck before starting a match. Supercell Support’s deck-management instructions also note that Private Tournaments and Friendly Battles use the Trophy Road deck rather than a separate mode deck.
