The Google Pixel 11 Pro Fold is easiest to recommend if you specifically want Google’s foldable software on a large inner screen. Its 8-inch display, 6.5-inch cover screen, IP68 rating and faster wireless charging are meaningful strengths. But the $1,899 US launch price for the 256GB model, reviewer concerns about camera detail and app scaling, and a relatively modest generational change make it a conditional buy—not an automatic upgrade.
What changed, and what the phone offers
Google lists an 8-inch inner foldable display and a 6.5-inch cover display, with its Tensor G6 chip and 16GB of RAM. The large unfolded screen is the clearest reason to choose this format: it gives you more room for reading, multitasking and other apps than a conventional phone. That benefit comes with the usual trade-off of carrying a larger, heavier device.

Google says the phone supports 30W wired charging and up to 25W Qi2.2 wireless charging. It also claims more than 24 hours of battery life; that is a manufacturer estimate, not an independently measured endurance result established by the reviews cited here. Tom’s Guide judged the battery improvement limited, so buyers should not treat Google’s claim as proof of an unusually long-lasting foldable.

How the Pixel compares with the Galaxy Z Fold8
WIRED’s 2026 review reports the Pixel at 239g and 10.1mm thick, compared with 201g and 9.7mm for the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold8. In that comparison, the Pixel is both heavier and thicker. WIRED reports IP68 for Google and IP48 for Samsung, giving the Pixel the higher dust-and-water resistance rating on paper.
| Comparison point | Google Pixel 11 Pro Fold | Samsung Galaxy Z Fold8 |
|---|---|---|
| Weight and thickness, as reported by WIRED in 2026 | 239g; 10.1mm | 201g; 9.7mm |
| Ingress protection rating, as reported by WIRED | IP68 | IP48 |
| US launch price context | $1,899 for the 256GB base model, according to Tom’s Guide | Not stated in the cited comparison |
| Camera assessment | Android Central found softer fine detail than on the Pixel 11 Pro and Pro XL, and said dynamic range was not best-in-class | Android Central included the Galaxy Z Fold8 in its camera comparison; no equivalent measurement is established here |
| Software assessment | Tom’s Guide noted app-scaling quirks; Google’s foldable software is a central reason to consider the device | Comparable software findings are not established in the cited reviews |
These figures and observations come from named reviewers, not a controlled head-to-head test described in the available evidence. Google’s IP68 statement also has an important qualification: the company says the phone is designed to comply with IP68 under IEC 60529 when it leaves the factory, but it is not water- or dust-proof. Resistance can diminish through normal wear, repair, disassembly or damage.

Are the cameras as good as other Pixel phones?
Do not assume the foldable matches the Pixel 11 Pro or Pro XL cameras just because it carries the Pro name. Android Central reports that fine detail from the Fold’s main camera is softer than on those two models and that its dynamic range is not best-in-class. Those are reviewer observations, not lab measurements supplied here.
That distinction matters if photography is your main reason for buying a Pixel. The Fold’s appeal is the combination of a large screen and foldable form, rather than established camera parity with Google’s conventional Pro phones.

Does the refinement justify upgrading?
The reviews disagree about how much the changes add up to. TechRadar sees a more elegant, lighter multipurpose device and rates its software and performance more favorably than its cameras. WIRED calls the phone iterative, notes the $100 increase over the previous generation’s launch price and questions whether the hardware earns its cost. Tom’s Guide points to app-scaling quirks and limited battery gains, while praising the inner screen’s detail, color and outdoor visibility.
At launch, Tom’s Guide reported a US starting price of $1,899 for the 256GB base configuration, $100 above the prior generation’s launch price. That is launch context, not a current street-price quote; check the current price and availability before buying. The upgrade case depends on what you own now and what you want from a foldable: the refinements may matter if they address a specific frustration, but the reviews do not establish a major generational leap that makes upgrading worthwhile for everyone.
Quick Recap
Who should buy the Pixel 11 Pro Fold?
- Consider it if you specifically want Google’s foldable software, value an 8-inch inner screen, and are comfortable with a heavier device and premium launch pricing.
- Look closely at alternatives if low carry weight and slimness matter most: WIRED’s measurements put the Galaxy Z Fold8 below the Pixel in both weight and thickness.
- Choose around camera priorities if you want the strongest Pixel photography rather than the foldable screen; Android Central reports softer fine detail than on the Pixel 11 Pro and Pro XL.
- Be cautious about upgrading if your current foldable still meets your needs. The $100 launch-price increase and mixed reviewer verdicts make this a needs-driven decision, not a clear upgrade for every owner.
