If the feed appears but is out of date, check Data Saver; if the stories are off-topic, adjust personalization and interests. The right steps depend on whether Discover is missing, stale, or showing the wrong recommendations.
First, find where you use Discover
Google Discover can appear in the Google app, at google.com in an Android browser, or on some devices when you swipe right from the home screen. Chrome for Android also has a Discover feed on its New Tab page, with a separate control. The settings for one surface may not fix another.

Google notes that availability can vary by country and language, and that Search services settings are being updated. Menu names or locations may therefore differ between accounts and app versions.

Turn on Discover in the Google app

Go to Settings > General > Discover.

Turn on the Discover toggle if it is off.
Google’s instructions place the app’s on/off control in this menu: Google Discover settings and personalization.
Turn on the feed in Chrome for Android

Open a New Tab page in Chrome.

Tap More > Customize new tab page > Discover feed.

Turn on the feed.
Google says New Tab page customization requires you to be signed in to Chrome and to use Google as the default search engine. These Chrome controls are separate from the Google app’s Discover toggle. See Google’s instructions for customizing the Chrome New Tab page.

If the feed appears but is stale
Check whether Data Saver is enabled on your device or connection. Google says Data Saver can stop some features, including Discover, from refreshing as often. That makes it a possible explanation for less frequent updates, not proof of why a feed is blank or failing to connect. Google’s explanation is in its Discover help page.
If Discover shows irrelevant stories
Review the Google account’s personalization and interest controls. Google’s current Android guidance refers to Search Services History and Personalized recommendations, and provides Manage your interests controls. Use those controls to follow or unfollow topics and to remove or restore topics and sources. Labels and paths can vary as Google updates Search services settings; use the labels shown in your account. Details are in Google’s Discover personalization instructions.

Messages such as “Something went wrong” or “couldn’t connect to Discover” do not, by themselves, identify a specific cause. The steps above cover the documented feed switches, refresh behavior, and personalization controls; they are not a universal diagnosis for connection errors or every blank-feed problem. If the right feed is enabled and the controls look correct but the problem continues, Google’s cited guidance does not establish a next device-specific fix. Check Google’s current help for the surface you use rather than applying Chrome steps to the Google app, or vice versa.
