There is no universal winner. Choose the cloud that best fits your existing data, identity, networking and operations estate, then verify the exact model, region, quota, latency target, safety controls and negotiated price. Google Cloud is usually the strongest fit for Gemini, BigQuery and TPU/GPU-centric ML; AWS for organizations already standardized on AWS that want Bedrock’s multi-model application layer with SageMaker lifecycle tooling; and Azure for Microsoft identity, private networking, processing-location controls and Foundry governance.
Public list prices and vendor benchmarks do not establish a single cheapest or fastest provider. The same model can have different availability, throughput, token pricing, provisioned-capacity requirements and egress costs by region. Use the framework below to make a workload-specific decision rather than selecting a logo.

The short answer: match the platform to the workload and estate
Generative-AI architecture is more than a model endpoint. Retrieval data, vector or keyword search, identity, secrets, observability, deployment automation, safety filters and billing all sit around inference. Moving an application to a cloud where those surrounding services already run can remove more risk and cost than choosing a marginally different model.

What you are actually comparing
Google Cloud’s Gemini and Vertex AI stack
Google positions Vertex AI as the platform to train predictive and generative models at scale, host trained models and make predictions. Its Model Garden combines Gemini with foundational, open-source and fine-tunable models. The surrounding stack includes BigQuery, Cloud Storage, Google data services, GPUs, TPUs, Deep Learning VM images and containers.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
In practice, Google is compelling when the data warehouse, analytics and model-development workflow are already built around BigQuery and Vertex AI. It also gives teams a direct decision between managed model APIs and more controlled GPU/TPU environments. Confirm the exact Gemini SKU, context limits, tuning support, regional availability and quota before designing around it; catalog entries and limits change.
AWS Bedrock plus SageMaker AI
Amazon Bedrock is AWS’s managed application layer for foundation models and agents. AWS says it provides access to hundreds of foundation models and tools for evaluating models against performance and cost needs. SageMaker AI is the broader lifecycle environment for building, training and deploying machine-learning and foundation models, with governance, observability, data discovery and lakehouse access across S3, Redshift and third-party or federated sources.
This split is useful: an application team can use Bedrock APIs while a data-science or platform team governs experiments, training and deployment in SageMaker. It can also create architectural choices to document early, such as whether prompts, retrieval and agent orchestration stay in Bedrock or move into custom SageMaker services.
Microsoft Foundry Models and Azure services
Microsoft describes Microsoft Foundry Models as a hub for discovering and deploying many AI models for generative applications. Its serverless API is the preferred deployment path and supports regional, data-zone (US, EU or APAC) or global processing, customizable content filtering, Microsoft Entra ID, private networking and provisioned throughput. Azure OpenAI models are part of the Foundry catalog.
Foundry also offers managed compute for open-source, partner, industry and custom models. Microsoft documents A100 80 GB, H100 80 GB and MI300X 192 GB accelerator families, model-centric sizing, hourly accelerator billing and automatic runtime patching. As of the documentation updated September 28, 2026, managed compute is public preview, has no SLA and is not recommended by Microsoft for production workloads. Treat it as an evaluation path, not an equivalent replacement for a production-grade serverless deployment.

BigQuery as the system of record
Teams whose operational and analytical data already lives in BigQuery can reduce data movement by keeping feature preparation, evaluation datasets and retrieval pipelines close to that warehouse. Measure the actual effect on query cost, freshness, access-control complexity and application latency; proximity alone does not guarantee a faster user response.

TPU/GPU-oriented engineering
Google offers TPU and GPU resources, Deep Learning VM images and containers alongside Vertex AI. This is useful when you need to tune training or inference infrastructure rather than consume only a serverless API. Capacity, accelerator type, quota and region must be validated for the dates you plan to run; an attractive accelerator design is irrelevant if the required shape cannot be allocated.
Speech and voice pipelines
Google’s current pricing catalog states that Speech-to-Text supports 125 languages and Text-to-Speech offers more than 220 voices in 40-plus languages. Those are vendor-published product figures, not independent quality benchmarks. Test recognition accuracy, pronunciation, streaming latency and per-minute cost with your languages and audio conditions before committing.
When AWS is the better fit
Existing AWS operations and data
Bedrock is usually the least disruptive choice when applications, networking, logging, identity and data already use AWS. S3 and Redshift integration, established IAM policies and existing support agreements can outweigh a small difference in model price. Account for inter-region traffic and any new service-specific permissions when estimating migration effort.
Multi-model experimentation without rebuilding the application
Bedrock’s catalog of hundreds of foundation models lets a team compare model quality and cost behind a common service boundary. Use its evaluation tools and record the model version, region, prompt format, token counts and safety configuration for each test. Catalog breadth does not mean every model is available in every region or supports the same fine-tuning and throughput options.
Governed lifecycle through SageMaker
SageMaker AI covers building, training and deploying models, plus governance, observability, data discovery and lakehouse access across S3, Redshift and federated sources. Use it when a generative application needs repeatable dataset lineage, experiment tracking, deployment approvals or custom training rather than only an API call.

Bedrock safety and data handling
AWS states that Bedrock never stores or uses customer data to train models and describes encryption, identity policies, monitoring, logging and eligibility for ISO, SOC, CSA STAR Level 2, GDPR, FedRAMP High and HIPAA. Eligibility is not a blanket certification for every configuration: verify the service region, model, feature, logging path and contractual boundary required by your regulator.
AWS also advertises that distilled models can run up to 500% faster and up to 75% cheaper, and that Intelligent Prompt Routing can reduce costs by up to 30%. These are AWS claims for specified features, not cross-cloud benchmarks. Reproduce them with your own prompts, response lengths, concurrency and quality threshold.
When Azure is the better fit
Microsoft identity and private networking
Foundry integrates with Microsoft Entra ID and private networking. That combination is valuable when workforce identity, conditional access, virtual-network controls and existing Azure policy are non-negotiable. Map every service-to-service call, managed identity, private endpoint and outbound dependency before production; a private model endpoint does not automatically make the whole retrieval system private.
Processing-location requirements
Foundry can offer regional, US/EU/APAC data-zone or global processing, depending on the model and deployment. Choose the narrowest location that satisfies your latency and residency requirements, then verify where prompts, responses, abuse monitoring, logs and connected data are handled. Availability and terms differ by model and region.
Content filtering and enterprise controls
Built-in customizable Content Safety filters can be applied to serverless deployments. Define allowed categories, thresholds, appeal handling and false-positive monitoring with your legal and product teams. Filtering is a control, not a substitute for application authorization, prompt-injection defenses or output validation.
Serverless versus managed compute
Use the serverless API when a supported model, processing location and throughput plan meet your needs. Provisioned throughput provides a capacity-oriented option. Managed compute gives more control over open or custom model weights and runtime sizing, but its preview status, lack of SLA and Microsoft warning against production use materially change the risk calculation.

RAG and agent workloads: how the choice changes
Enterprise retrieval-augmented generation
For RAG, compare the entire path: document ingestion, parsing, chunking, embeddings, index updates, retrieval latency, authorization trimming, generation, citations and observability. A model’s token price is only one line item. Keep retrieval data in the cloud where your source systems and identity controls already live unless a measured quality or latency gain justifies replication.

A free scan shows the junk files, broken settings and background clutter dragging Windows down - then fixes them in one click.Free scan · Windows 10 & 11- Google Cloud: a natural fit when BigQuery and Google data services hold the corpus and Vertex AI manages model and ML workflows.
- AWS: a natural fit when S3, Redshift and existing AWS governance are the center of the data path, with Bedrock handling model access and SageMaker handling lifecycle work.
- Azure: a natural fit when Entra authorization, private networking, Content Safety and processing-location controls dominate the design.
Whichever cloud you choose, test retrieval recall, citation correctness, permission leakage and stale-document behavior with a representative evaluation set. Do not infer RAG quality from a model catalog description.
Agents and tool use
Agent systems add tool permissions, state, retries, human approval and audit requirements. Bedrock emphasizes a managed application and agent layer; Google and Azure can also support agent architectures through their model and data services, but the exact orchestration components and preview statuses must be checked for your chosen region. Keep tools behind narrowly scoped service identities, validate arguments server-side and log the model decision separately from the tool result.
Inference performance and deployment controls
Start with a service-level objective: time to first token, total response time, tokens per second, concurrency, availability and maximum context. Then decide whether serverless, provisioned capacity, batch or dedicated accelerators can meet it.
| Control | Why it matters | Questions to answer before purchase |
|---|---|---|
| Serverless inference | Fastest path to a managed API and model switching. | What are quota limits, cold-start behavior, regional availability and overage rates? |
| Provisioned throughput | More predictable capacity for sustained traffic. | What unit is reserved, for how long, and what happens when demand is below the reservation? |
| Dedicated GPU/TPU or accelerator | Control over runtime, batching, quantization and model weights. | Can the required accelerator be allocated in the target region, and who patches the runtime? |
| Batch processing | Can reduce latency pressure for offline jobs. | Are batch prices, completion windows and input/output limits different from online inference? |
Record model version and tokenizer, prompt and completion tokens, concurrency, cache-hit rate, retrieval time, network hops and egress for every benchmark. Run identical quality checks across at least two regions when residency permits. Vendor claims such as faster distilled models are useful hypotheses, not substitutes for this test.

Governance, security and geography checklist
- Data boundary: classify prompts, retrieved documents, outputs and logs. Confirm whether the selected service stores them, for how long and for which operations.
- Identity: use workload identities and least-privilege policies; separate developer, evaluator and production access.
- Network: map private endpoints, DNS, egress paths and third-party tools. Test failure behavior when a private dependency is unavailable.
- Safety: configure provider filters or guardrails, then add application-level moderation, prompt-injection defenses and output schemas.
- Audit: retain model version, prompt policy, retrieved-document IDs, tool calls, reviewer decisions and latency metrics without logging secrets.
- Compliance scope: verify the exact region, SKU and feature against your required standard. A provider’s broad eligibility statement does not cover every architecture.
- Residency: choose regional or data-zone processing where required and verify global fallbacks, support access and telemetry handling.
A practical selection process
- Inventory the estate. List data stores, warehouses, identity provider, network topology, observability tools, deployment pipeline and existing contracts.
- Define workload classes. Separate interactive chat, RAG, agents, batch summarization, fine-tuning, speech and self-hosted inference. Each has different latency and capacity needs.
- Set acceptance tests. Specify quality, safety, latency, concurrency, uptime, residency and maximum monthly cost before testing models.
- Shortlist two providers. Start with the cloud that minimizes integration work, then select a second option to test portability and pricing leverage.
- Build a controlled benchmark. Use the same prompts, documents, token limits, concurrency and evaluation set. Include retrieval and network time, not only model generation.
- Model three demand levels. Estimate low, expected and peak traffic, including cache hit rates, batch windows and failover capacity.
- Validate production controls. Confirm quotas, private connectivity, audit logs, safety settings, regional availability, support response and rollback procedures.
- Document lock-in. Record proprietary APIs, prompt formats, embeddings, fine-tuned weights, agent tools and data formats. Keep an abstraction layer where switching cost matters.
- Recheck immediately before procurement. Catalogs, regions, quotas, preview labels and prices change frequently; obtain current written terms for the exact deployment.
Common failure modes and fixes
Choosing by model name alone
Symptom: a demo looks excellent but production latency or retrieval accuracy fails. Fix: benchmark the complete application with representative documents, concurrency and safety policies.
Comparing token prices without egress
Symptom: inference appears cheap while cross-region transfer and search costs dominate. Fix: draw the data path and price every hop, including logs and failover.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsAssuming a catalog means immediate access
Symptom: the desired model or quota is unavailable in the required geography. Fix: verify model, version, region, quota and approval requirements before coding to it.
Treating preview compute as production capacity
Symptom: a custom model depends on a service without an SLA. Fix: use preview managed compute for evaluation only unless Microsoft changes its production guidance, and maintain a supported fallback.
Overlooking authorization in RAG
Symptom: the generator cites documents a user should not see. Fix: enforce permissions during retrieval, pass only authorized chunks and test adversarial queries.
Confusing compliance eligibility with compliance completion
Symptom: a service is advertised as eligible but the deployed configuration fails an audit. Fix: map each control to the exact SKU, region, logging and contractual boundary, then retain evidence.
