GoDaddy is the stronger provisional choice if you want daily backups, NVMe storage, and the edge in one independent WordPress performance test. Name.com may suit you better if you want its U.S. annual shared-hosting plans, a cPanel workflow, or its separate DigitalOcean-powered cloud option. Neither is a universal winner: compare equivalent plans, checkout totals, and renewal prices before choosing.
How the two hosting lineups differ
Both companies offer web hosting and WordPress hosting, but their catalogues are not identical. GoDaddy lists shared hosting, managed WordPress, VPS, and support for Node.js and custom apps. Name.com separates shared web hosting, managed WordPress, DigitalOcean-powered cloud hosting, a one-page website product, and a Wix website builder. Its cloud option is a developer-oriented alternative, not a like-for-like shared-hosting plan.

For a basic website or a typical WordPress site, compare equivalent shared or managed WordPress plans. Consider Name.com’s cloud product only if you specifically want a cloud-infrastructure route; the overview does not establish its detailed infrastructure responsibilities or support boundaries.

GoDaddy: shared hosting and managed WordPress
The GoDaddy hosting page reviewed displayed European storefront pricing. Its Economy shared plan was shown at €2.19 per month for the first one-year term, against a displayed reference price of €10.99 per month. The listed plan included one website, 25 GB NVMe storage, cPanel, Node.js, a free domain, free email, and one year of free SSL. GoDaddy also lists a 30-day money-back guarantee for its web-hosting plans. These are page-displayed terms for that regional offer; check your own storefront and checkout for current pricing and conditions.
#1 Best Overall
The same page showed managed WordPress Basic at €2.79 per month for the first one-year term, with 10 GB NVMe storage, a WordPress control panel, SSL with no renewal fees, site security, a CDN, and migration tools.
Name.com: three U.S. shared-hosting tiers
Name.com’s U.S. shared-hosting page displays monthly equivalents for plans billed annually. Its sale pricing applies only to the first billing cycle; the plan renews at the standard price. The page also says new customers buying a yearly hosting plan receive credit for one free domain name.
Rank #2
| Plan | Displayed price | Websites | Email accounts | Disk space | MySQL databases | SSL |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Personal | $6/month, billed annually | 1 | 100 | 10 GB | 10 | Free Let’s Encrypt SSL |
| Premium | $8/month, billed annually | 25 | Unlimited | 100 GB | 50 | Free SSL |
| Business | $13/month, billed annually | Unlimited | Unlimited | Unlimited | Unlimited | Free SSL |
These Name.com figures are U.S.-dollar prices shown on its plan page in 2026, not a matched quote against GoDaddy’s European euro offer. The available pages do not establish comparable renewal totals for both providers, so check the billing term, taxes, checkout total, and renewal amount for your location before deciding on price.
Backups, storage, uptime, and support
GoDaddy lists NVMe storage and automatic daily backups on the shown hosting plans. It also states that its web-hosting plans include unmetered bandwidth, data centers in North America and Europe, and a 99.9% uptime guarantee. GoDaddy describes support as available 24/7 by chat, phone, or email. These are provider-published features and claims, not independent measurements.
Rank #3
Name.com says all hosting packages include free SSL and automated backups, and specifies that shared-hosting backups run every 48 hours. Its page also states a 99.9% uptime guarantee. HostAdvice reports Name.com support through chat, tickets, and email; check the current support options for your region and whether assistance covers migrations or application troubleshooting.
On backup cadence and storage technology, GoDaddy’s listed daily backups and NVMe are useful advantages to weigh. Confirm the selected plan’s backup inclusion and restore limits with either provider; the cited plan pages do not establish equivalent restoration terms.

What one WordPress performance test found
HostAdvice’s 2026 comparison reports results from one tested content-built WordPress site. GoDaddy recorded a 100% GTmetrix performance grade, 412 ms Largest Contentful Paint (LCP), 113 ms Time to First Byte (TTFB), and 526 ms fully loaded time. Name.com recorded 83%, 682 ms LCP, 82 ms TTFB, and 4.6 seconds fully loaded time.
The result is not a clean sweep across every measure: Name.com had the lower reported TTFB, while GoDaddy had the faster LCP and fully loaded time in this test. A single reviewer setup cannot establish how every plan, region, configuration, or site will perform. Treat the result as a useful data point, not a guarantee.

| If your priority is… | Evidence points toward… | Check before buying |
|---|---|---|
| Daily backups and NVMe storage | GoDaddy’s listed plans | Selected-plan inclusions and restore limits |
| A basic shared plan with listed U.S. annual pricing | Name.com | Checkout total, renewal price, billing length, taxes, and storage |
| WordPress performance | GoDaddy in HostAdvice’s one-site test | Current plan and independent results on comparable configurations |
| A cPanel shared-hosting workflow | Name.com’s standard web hosting; GoDaddy’s Economy listing also includes cPanel | That the specific plan and storefront still include cPanel |
| Developer-oriented cloud hosting | Name.com’s DigitalOcean-powered option | Droplet configuration, region, infrastructure responsibilities, and support boundary |
| Multiple support channels | Both list several channels, though the evidence differs by source | Current regional hours and whether support covers your issue |
Choose GoDaddy if its listed feature set and the single-test performance edge matter most to you. Choose Name.com if its shared-hosting allowances and cPanel setup fit your needs, or if you specifically want its DigitalOcean-powered cloud route. For either provider, decide on a plan only after checking the current offer and renewal terms for your country.
