Bluehost’s AI Website Builder creates a WordPress site from a short description of your business. You then edit the result by hand or by asking the built-in AI chat. You can start with a 14-day trial to build and preview, or buy the Get Online plan directly so you can publish from day one. If you plan to sell products, one checkbox sends you to a separate AI Store setup instead.
This guide follows Bluehost’s own documentation. It hasn’t been hands-on tested, so claims about speed, ease and output quality are Bluehost’s description, not measured results.
Who the builder is for
Bluehost positions the builder for small businesses, solopreneurs, entrepreneurs and anyone who wants a WordPress site without coding or prior WordPress experience. Per its guide, the AI uses your answers about the business to produce a starter design and starter content.
Pick your route first
Two decisions shape everything that follows.
Ordinary site or online store?
- AI Website Builder (Get Online): for non-commerce sites such as blogs, portfolios, business sites and informational sites.
- AI Store (Sell Online): for ecommerce. Choose this if you need product selling, order management and store configuration.
Trial or direct-to-paid?
| Question | 14-day trial | Direct-to-paid Get Online |
|---|---|---|
| Build and preview before paying? | Yes | Not applicable; you pay at the start |
| Can you publish? | Not until you upgrade to Get Online | Yes, from the start |
| Prices and renewal | Confirm at checkout when upgrading | Prices shown are for reference; Bluehost advises checking renewal rates |
Bluehost refers readers to its product page for the latest plan details and prices. Don’t treat an introductory rate as your ongoing cost.

- Open the builder. Use the Build menu on Bluehost’s site or go to the AI Website Builder page directly.
- Describe your business. Write a short description of the business, brand or project. Bluehost recommends this prompt as the way to tell the system what to create.
- Add references (optional). You can upload up to three images and give one reference-site URL. Bluehost says the URL is used to match visual style and structure, not to copy content.
- Decide whether you’re selling. Ticking “I want to sell products online” routes you to AI Store setup. Leaving it unticked continues with the standard builder.
- Click Get Started and create or sign in to a Bluehost account. Documented sign-in options are email, Google, Apple and GitHub.
- Review the generated site. Bluehost says the AI generates the site, after which you can customize it, view its source code or upgrade your plan.
- Preview, then publish. On the trial, upgrade to Get Online before publishing. With a direct-to-paid purchase, publishing is available immediately.
Customizing the generated site
You have two ways to make changes: a drag-and-drop editor for manual edits, or the AI chat box, where you describe the change you want. Each AI chat request uses one credit. Bluehost says monthly credits reset with your billing cycle and don’t roll over, and its documentation lists different allowances for trial and paid plans. Check the current allowance for your plan, since it can change.
Bluehost’s dashboard walkthrough also covers preview mode, code view, edit and design tools, and shortcuts to WordPress admin, form submissions and posts.
Limits on WordPress control
This is a managed WordPress experience, and some admin controls are restricted. According to Bluehost, you can’t install, deactivate or delete plugins, and you can’t install or switch themes. If you need unrestricted plugin or theme work, such as a specific page-builder or custom theme, this builder may not fit.
Publishing: upgrading a trial
- Log in to the Bluehost Portal.
- Choose to upgrade and select a billing term at checkout.
- Complete payment.
- Click Publish.
Bluehost says an expired trial can still be upgraded, so a lapsed trial doesn’t automatically mean starting over. Its FAQ also covers “What happens at the end of the free trial?”; read that answer before the 14 days run out.

What to check at checkout
Bluehost’s guide describes paid plans as including Yoast SEO Premium, plus hosting, a domain, security, backups, CDN and support. These are vendor statements and inclusions can vary by plan and over time, so confirm each of these on your actual checkout page before paying:
