If your A&E activation code fails, first make sure you’re entering it on the page meant for TV-provider activation: aetv.com/activate. A&E uses a separate page, aetv.com/register, for creating or syncing a profile. If the code is correct but sign-in keeps looping, check the browser handoff, your TV package, and provider credentials.
1. Enter the code on the right A&E page
Use aetv.com/activate when connecting your TV provider to the A&E app. Use aetv.com/register when creating or syncing an A&E profile across devices. These pages serve different purposes, so switching between them can resolve a code error that appears to be an invalid-code problem. Follow the instructions shown on your TV or streaming device and enter the code on the matching page.

2. Retry provider sign-in in a regular browser window
Open the activation page in a standard browser window rather than Chrome Incognito. A&E lists Chrome, Firefox, Microsoft Edge, and Safari as supported browsers for its website. If you’re using another browser, try one of those before troubleshooting further. See A&E’s supported-browser instructions.

3. Allow cookies, pop-ups, and redirects
Provider sign-in may temporarily send you to your TV provider and back to A&E. If the browser blocks that handoff, the page may reload, stall, or ask you to sign in again. A&E says Chrome users should allow cookies for play.aetv.com and permit pop-ups and redirects so the site can check provider authorization. Review your browser’s site settings and retry the sign-in. 4. Check tracking protection and cross-site cookie settings
Privacy protections can block the cross-site activity required for a provider login. Browser setting names and menus can vary by version, but A&E documents these adjustments:
- Firefox: Turn off Enhanced Tracking Protection for the A&E site.
- Microsoft Edge: Allow cross-site cookies and use Basic or Balanced tracking prevention.
- Safari: Enable cookies and cross-site tracking. On iPhone or iPad, go to Settings > Safari > Privacy & Security and review Prevent Cross-Site Tracking.
After changing the relevant setting, restart the provider sign-in from the A&E activation page. A&E’s browser instructions describe the supported-browser settings.

5. Confirm your TV package and refresh provider credentials
Make sure your subscription includes A&E
Locked episodes require a TV package that includes A&E. Internet-only or phone-only service does not qualify. To check whether your provider is supported, open a locked episode and review the provider sign-in list. If A&E isn’t included in your TV lineup, activation cannot unlock those episodes. Reconnect with an updated provider password
If your TV package qualifies but A&E reports an authentication error or repeatedly asks you to re-authenticate, change your password on your TV provider’s website. Then return to A&E and sign in again using the updated credentials. A&E recommends this when provider authentication continues to fail. See A&E’s activation-code troubleshooting guidance.

When the issue is Live TV availability, not activation
A successful provider sign-in does not guarantee Live TV is available on every device or in every location. A&E says Live TV is available in the U.S. on iPhone, iPad, Apple TV, Roku, Android TV, and Fire TV, and on the web at play.aetv.com/live after provider sign-in. Live TV is not available in the A&E app for Samsung TVs or outside the U.S. These limits apply to Live TV; they do not establish that every on-demand feature has the same restrictions.
