To watch a DribbleUp session on a TV, start the session in the DribbleUp app on a compatible phone or tablet, then cast it—Chromecast is DribbleUp’s recommended method. Keep the mobile device in place: its camera still tracks your training while the TV shows the session.
What you need before connecting
- A DribbleUp training product and the DribbleUp app on a compatible phone or tablet.
- A TV or receiver that supports your chosen connection method.
- A stable place to position the phone or tablet so its camera can see you and the training product.
- An active All-Access Membership for most live and on-demand sessions.
DribbleUp recommends about 6 feet (2 meters) of open training space. A dedicated device stand is optional; a stable surface, tripod, or stack of books can also hold the phone or tablet in position.

Choose another connection method if needed
| Method | What it requires | Key consideration |
|---|---|---|
| Chromecast | A Chromecast receiver or compatible TV and the DribbleUp app on a mobile device | Recommended by DribbleUp; begin casting from inside an active session. |
| AirPlay mirroring | An iPhone or iPad and Apple TV or an AirPlay 2-compatible TV | The mobile device and TV should be on the same Wi-Fi network. |
| HDMI | An HDMI cable and a compatible adapter for the mobile device | Android USB-C video output varies by device; check the manufacturer’s specifications. |
Mirror with AirPlay
Use an iPhone or iPad to mirror the app to an Apple TV or AirPlay 2-compatible television. Connect both devices to the same Wi-Fi network, enable AirPlay on the TV or receiver, and start screen mirroring from the mobile device. Some smart TVs may not appear when they use Ethernet-only networking.
Connect with an HDMI adapter
- Connect the HDMI cable to the TV and the compatible adapter.
- Attach the adapter to the phone or tablet.
- Use the TV remote to select the HDMI input connected to the cable.
- Open the DribbleUp app and start the session, keeping the mobile device camera positioned for tracking.
For Apple devices, DribbleUp recommends an Apple-certified adapter. Not every Android USB-C device supports video output, so confirm that capability in the device maker’s specifications before buying or troubleshooting an adapter.

Can you use the DribbleUp app directly on a smart TV?
DribbleUp’s connection guidance lists LG Smart TVs from 2019 onward and Samsung Smart TVs from 2018 onward; it specifies iOS support for Samsung. These model-year ranges do not guarantee that every TV, operating system, or setup is compatible, so check the exact model and casting arrangement.

Fix common connection problems
- Chromecast does not appear: Make sure the receiver and phone or tablet are available on the network, then retry from an active session using the cast icon.
- AirPlay cannot find the TV: Confirm both devices share Wi-Fi and AirPlay is enabled. Restart screen mirroring or the devices; check for TV firmware and iOS updates. An Ethernet-only TV connection may prevent discovery.
- HDMI shows no picture: Reseat the adapter and cable, select the TV input that matches the connection, and verify the phone or tablet supports video output. If possible, try another compatible cable or adapter.
- Android USB-C video output fails: Check the device manufacturer’s specifications; USB-C does not guarantee video output.
- The screen is black over HDMI on iOS: Some apps restrict HDMI output because of DRM. DribbleUp suggests locking and unlocking the phone while it is connected, but this may not resolve every restriction.
Keep tracking reliable while the TV displays the session
Position the phone or tablet on a stable stand or surface with the camera aimed so it can see you and the training product. Leave enough room to move—DribbleUp’s guidance is about 6 feet (2 meters) of open space—and avoid placing the device where movement or equipment can block the camera. The TV can make instructions easier to see, but the mobile device remains part of the training setup.
